This whole thing started with people claiming that nicotine ingestion will kill people. That is unlikely in the case of vaping juice and I'm not saying that because I think nicotine is completely safe. I've mentioned this in another thread... people often have a problem recognizing variables. Don't fall into the trap of a false dichotomy. There are more than two options here. It's not just:

1) Kid drinks nicotine and survives

or

2) Kid drinks nicotine and dies

...

I agree. Morbidity is Not the Only Measure of Harm.

... BTW - You do understand that Death is not the Only Possible Outcome of Ingestion a poisonous substance? Just because it doesn't kill you Doesn't Mean that it couldn't cause Liver or Kidney Damage. ...

Though admittedly, I wouldn't want my own kids to vape before they are 18

Oh boy. That statement blows you out of the water, IMHO. You have no problem supporting something you wouldn't support for YOUR OWN KIDS, but exposure to substances that we don't know are safe if it's someone else's child is okay.........????

I have a rational side that makes me wonder... exactly what is wrong if they did vape at say, age 13 if vaping was proven, beyond a reasonable doubt, to be safe? Speaking of 0 nicotine of course.

But it hasn't been proven.

And until that happens, you can't very well make a *rational* argument for it, because you have no facts with which to support a rational argument.

Approaching this hypothetical kids vaping scenario with rationality tells me that there would be absolutely nothing wrong with them vaping 0 nicotine juices

There is a huge difference between rationality and wishful thinking/hoping you're right.

There is really nothing rational about your thinking as you have laid it out here, at least, not in any way that would squeak past even the lowest level of scientific or medical reasoning, which isn't based on anecdotes or hunches.

As for reversing negativity toward vaping, I only do that as far as I can do with FACTS.

To do otherwise would put me in the position of one of the cardinal sins of debating.......namely, engaging in an intellectually dishonest argument.

Personally, I know of no truly responsible parent, in the face of lack of information and data, who would encourage their under-age child to vape or smoke. Children who have developed addictions need need to be evaluated and treated by qualified medical personnel. Children with addictions is not something you play around with.

Sorry, but i fully support age limits for alcohol, cigarettes, ejuice, and such. Children haven't developed the judgement to make choices like this yet. They haven't reached those developmental milestones.

If your under-age child has developed, or is in danger of developing, any kind of addiction or addictive *behavior*, whether it be food or inhaling or chewing or taking into their body of any stuff, please, get them the help they deserve.

Perhaps there are parents out there willing to sacrafice the possible well-being of their children for some political goal.......that would not be me, however. I feel no shame in having made this clear.

It didn't blow anything out of the water. Again we have a case of someone with too much zeal to understand what I'm saying. I did not say I support kids vaping 0 nic. I am asking what would be wrong about it IF it were proven safe. I'm not saying IT IS safe. This is an exercise in hypotheticals. Something even scientists do buddy.

But it hasn't been proven.

And until that happens, you can't very well make a *rational* argument for it, because you have no facts with which to support a rational argument.

I'm sorry, did I ever say it was proven? We can't rationally discuss a topic that is hypothetical? So I guess scientists don't come up with hypotheses before they experiment huh?

Again I'll call you out for that fallacious comment. Scientists don't base research on hunches? The first step in the scientific process is forming a question that then leads to a hypothesis. Those are based on nothing but visual evidence and maybe some ANECDOTAL evidence as well.

The Scientific Process

Please don't insult my intelligence because I have no problem insulting yours if that's where you want to take this. We both be immature if you want.

As for reversing negativity toward vaping, I only do that as far as I can do with FACTS.

To do otherwise would put me in the position of one of the cardinal sins of debating.......namely, engaging in an intellectually dishonest argument.

I only do it with facts too. Again, you are mistaking this exercise in the hypothetical as me acting as if it were fact. I made it clear multiple times in my comments with the phrase:

"IF VAPING WERE PROVEN TO BE ABSOLUTELY SAFE"

Personally, I know of no truly responsible parent, in the face of lack of information and data, who would encourage their under-age child to vape or smoke. Children who have developed addictions need need to be evaluated and treated by qualified medical personnel. Children with addictions is not something you play around with.

Begging the question, red herring, and dangerously close to being ad hominem.

Illogical response as I NEVER said I would encourage them to vape or smoke. The closest I got to doing that was if I found out my child was ALREADY addicted to analogs. And I think it should go without saying I would obviously take my child to the doctor. And sorry, I'm not an idiot. I know that a determined kid will be a determined kid no matter how much you tell them no or even if doctors do the same. Vaping > smoking so if my kid is addicted to analogs, I sure as heck would rather have them vape where at least they have the 0 nic option. If you don't think that's right, then why are YOU vaping? Go back to analogs. Plenty of information on this very forum about how much more dangerous analogs are.

Good for you that you have no shame. Completely irrelevant comment anyway.

@Zoid Cringe all you want. I'm already vomiting by the amount of gross misinterpretations done about me by you zealots.

And just so new readers to this thread don't take your guy's assumptions about me to heart since I'm a new member...

Here is what I said in my first post.

There's no black-and-white answer to this issue. But me personally? I think 0 nic juices shouldn't have restrictions... well at least when these things get better testing and regulations.

I have a feeling that even if it's not required to have an age limit for 0 nic juice, shop owners will voluntarily set one. Might not be 18, but I definitely don't think they will be selling to a 9 year old. But hey, what is that 9 year old doing in a vape shop without a parent anyway?

Where in there am I acting as if it's a fact that even 0 nic vaping is safe?

Now kindly pull head from .... before the mighty Jupiter himself delivers vengeance (I so want to use the Spartacus language here instead lol).

Geebus... repeating myself over and over is exhausting.

I DO NOT SUPPORT KIDS VAPING EVEN 0 NIC JUICES. I WILL ONLY CONSIDER THAT AFTER THOROUGH MEDICAL/SCIENTIFIC TESTING ON VAPING AND THE IMPLEMENTATION OF PROPER REGULATORY BODIES TO ENSURE QUALITY INGREDIENTS.

You're off to a Great Start iz2sick. I can see that you are going to Make a Lot of Friends around here.

:D

Can't please everyone. Especially the ones that are so stubborn in their stance, that they become judgmental of others.

And if people don't like me because of my opinions, then who needs friends like that? Meanwhile, I'll still go on respecting others despite differences of opinions.

But but... I love my kids even though I'm a horrible parent that has political reasons for being one.

LOL! I love my kids also but i couldn't help to think about a bunch of lawmaker sitting around in 1700s attire trying to think of a "solution" when one of them screams BAN CHILDREN! Answered by a resounding HERE HERE OLD CHAP :p

sometimes i have to much fun in my own mind....

Ha. Hey, you're talking with me. Does this mean we're friends? Because you know, I'd like to obtain one here and rub it in Zoid's face :p

Seriously though, I know what you mean. Sometimes I find myself bobbing my head to music only to realize that I don't have any music on.

If you don't think that's right, then why are YOU vaping? Go back to analogs.

Do you not grasp the distinction between an adult and and under-age child?

I'll call you out for that fallacious comment.

Completely irrelevant

Doing a quick bathroom read through "How to Argue on the Internet" ---- for some neat vocabulary words and latin phrases to fling around (incorrectly and recklessly I might add) doesn't get you any traction. ;)

Since you've entirely missed the basic premise of the argument at hand (adults versus underaged children vaping).

By the way, nobody here called you stupid, or insulted your intelligence....... it's not that kind of forum.

But disagreeing with you should not be taken as a personal attack.

You can certainly embarrass youself though, engaging in the antics and verbal somersaults, and then getting twisted up, angry and hurt in the process.

If you require agreement, you're going to have your feelings hurt on a forum with thousands and thousands of users, cuz there will be many who will not agree with you.

However, it is perfectly customary here to disagree ---- and still be friends.

Calling other members here names, like Zealots, etc. isn't really a very mature way to argue a point. NOBODY here will dislike you for your opinions, but if you start name callling, that is another matter entirely.

Just because you quote me out of context doesn't mean I am what you claim I am.

Accusatory yet again. I'm highly familiar with these terms thanks the numerous religious debates I have been in. And they were plenty relevant to the comment they were aimed at.

Nope. I already made it very clear that it is you who are misunderstanding. You even made a claim about my position that was completely falsified by my quoting of myself from my first post in this thread. Go back and read it.

Zealot is not calling you a name... well it isn't done in an insulting way. You do show zeal. So much so that you keep misquoting me and pushing your assumptions about my position onto me even though I have constantly told you were I stand.

You on the other hand making a comment about bad parenting in reference to yet another misquoted comment of mine insinuates something very personal. I did no such thing to you.

So let's talk about maturity again?

Hey iz2sick, don't worry about it.

We don't agree on everything, it's not a big deal. We all have diffferent communication styles, too. While I may not like your debating style that doesn't mean that I don't like YOU. :)

There are no hard feelings and everything is cool.

I can appreciate that you are passionate about your ideas and views. That's perfectly okay with me and I'm sure zoiDman feels the same way. We are all sort of on the same page trying to stay off the analogs and some of the other *details* are just a matter of personal preference.

You will see the same thing when people start debating what ecig/mod is the best. Or ejuice, etc. Fans, non fans, whatever, it's all good.

In the end, when all is said and done, we all have helped each other in different ways, and that's really all that is important. :)

Sidebar: This conversation got me thinking (first time for everything LOL)....so the FDA is discussing banning online sales of e-liquid due to possibility of underage kids buying? So I went out to search to see what the requirements are to buy analog cigarettes online and guess what? Not ONE of the sites I went to even had the popup to click that you are 18+, and I sure didnt easily find anything stating you even had to be 18? WTH?

Maybe they pop up during checkout? Seems odd.

At any rate, we all know this "click if you're 18" jazz doesn't work anyway lol.
