Thanks again for your help. Now I can't wait to use the 500 mesh!@ Jimi D. : THAT'S what I call vapeing. Really glad it is working for you...![]()

Thanks BJ43. You're very helpful !
Very interesting!
Thankyou very much for this info, will make sure to have 500# mesh when I get my hands on a real genny.
A question.
I have an rta (which was designed for FB wicks) with 2 holes, very small (will try and enlarge them) so I have to make an U-wick for mesh.
Currently got 325 for this, but is 400 and/or 500# mesh more difficult to bend?
Just a little, and it's doable, or pretty difficult?
Actually less difficult, the wire in the 400/500 is thinner than on the 325 and bends easier. Cut it on the bias, roll and bend it on a paperclip
Scuba recommends bias in most of his videos for U wicks the first time I heard it was from him. I do not us SS U wicks, kind of think it is crazy to have two ends fighting against the middle but I don't want to get into all that testing now. I will let others give their best setup. I gave them up a long time ago. However, Scuba's vid showed no bias-cut, and mine rolled really well just squared.

Emonty, Is that a mechanical mod your'e using with that setup? I like that!I made a new setup with 28 AWG A1 Kanthal, #500 mesh 90 mm in a 3.5 mm wick hole on my Zen TI standard, unbelievable performance:
Amperage: 5.7
Ohm: 0.7
Wattage: 22.8
running it with Panasonic IMR's that can handle 10A so perfectly save.
Flavor is stellar, throat hit is perfect, true one second hits
The vapor is dangerous when driving a car and if you do: open the windows!!!
Thanks man. That's next on my list..yes, 100% mechanical, no wires, no soldering.
BJ, can you bend these Thick Wicks without kinking them? That was the point of the bias as they pinched off the flow. Seems that when it is a dense mass instead of a tube it doesn't matter. Getting the coil to sit right without long flying ends on a U-shaped wick is another issue...
The kerosine lamp test with the three wicks shows no difference in the wicking between oxidized and not oxidize, if there is a difference it cant be seen with the naked eye. All flames the same size and time to consume 3ml of kerosine within seconds of each other. My conclusion is do it any of the three ways, whichever suits you.
