All wicks in all tanks end up darkening the juice, you notice it less in small tanks because you replace the juice more often. Backwash of gunk just happens, there is no way around it. Just one of the things we have to live with in any tank. Using a metal tank helps if seeing it bothers you.

We discussed this in detail on another thread. We determined heat has more to do w/ darkening of juice above anything else. I found that not chain vaping will allow the juice to stay clear much longer.

Question on 500 wicks; since they take longer to heat up does that mean longer draws w/ 32g kanthal? I'm assuming 'emonty's 28g is the reason why he takes shorter draws as you pointed out.

Has anyone tried a 500 wick w/ a twisted coil? I don't remember seeing it mentioned yet.

@Emonty; Looking at Tom's chart your 1ohm 28g the wire is 50% thicker and your 1 ohm would have the same amount of wraps as my 2.4 ohm 32g (based on the ohms per inch) with the advantage of the thicker wire giving even more heating area. Have to try it, have some 28g on order.

Don't order too much, I am afraid that they will last a very long time :2cool:

There may be a few places on your body you could stick it to keep it warm. Cyrus can probably help with which place has the most temp on the human body.

Joking aside, Emonty seems to get instant volume vaper on his 28g very low ohm high wattage.

male or female?

oh damn, sorry wrong forum

Put two vertical wicks in a vivi tank, 400 mesh on the left and 500 mesh on the right, both 70mm. The coil is 32g A1 wrapped in a figure 8 around both wicks so both wicks are on the same coil. not two wicks, two coils. This coil metered out at 3.2 ohms. At 5.5 volt in this static test the coil on the left the 400 started getting red and it seems it does not wick as well as the 500 on the right. This is a static test and when I vape it, the suction and cooling from the draw helps the 400 keep up. It vapes excellent.and I will go for two 500s on the next build. Clic on pic for video.

Just read through the entire thread and ordered some 500 mesh before I was halfway through.

This is really awesome stuff, thanks BJ for the throughout and meticulous information you have provided and all others that have added their 2cents along the way.

I have been using a solid 50mm 325 wick on my NGP for 7 months which gave me good vapor and great flavor. My Zenesis took me a few months to get right, a dual mesh setup kept me from selling it but I feel it can do better. Can't wait until the mesh arrives, thread has been subscribed and I will report back when it does!

I'm running a Nova exactly-so - as he suggested: oxidizing/treating only the area around the coil. Tastes wonderful-er than it did before.

Also, completed the same exact mod on my Thor (clone Vivi Vision Version Two). Still can't quite figure a simple fix the the overly hard draw on it, but it's totally fiberglass and "silica" free, now.

I still don't care much for the as-is atty "heads".. The Vivi Tank is a ton easier to work with, and it and the Nova are sorta' a cointoss for which vapes or tastes better.

PoppaVic in regard to the Thor's draw I have used a 510 adapter for the connection to the Thor instead of or above the Ego fitting and it loosens the draw up.

Hey guys.

Still not happy with my 60mm four wrap 32g setup

I did receive some 28g today but am too tired to start to have to mess with it.

On a side note, I'm still getting popping happening on the wick. What do you think that's from? Just curious.

Try 6/7 wraps at 4.5 to 5.5v, if you want a lot of vaper you need a lot of heating area. I wouldn't be happy with 4 wraps of 32g on a 60mm either. Like a lawnmower engine in a Cadillac, big wick lot of fuel nothing to vape it on.. I don't measure in wraps it really means nothing, with 32g you need 2 1/4 t0 2 1/2 inches of wire wrapped around these wicks. With 32 that will give from 2.4 to 2.8 ohms and with 28 that same length of wire will give you 1 ohm. Adjust voltage to your sweet spot.

I guess what I'm asking is do I need more or less?

I'm not sure I could get two inches wrapped around it with the space I have to work with.

Oh, and I'm not using a vv device. Genesis mostly.

OB, with 32AWG you need about 3 wraps to get you to 1.5ohm, make sure your using an IMR Batt of course.

poland, and the brassy lands of google
BJ, I see you have two ideas that need to come together. :)

The part about using 28G to heat the wick enough to produce vapor, sure the heat will be there, but airflow can't get into the wick so the heat doesn't get used efficiently.

Now with the dual wick figure eight wrap, if you drilled the second hole quite close to the first, the wicks would be parallel to each other with just the wire crossing in between and airflow can get to everywhere there is coil. With some careful math from TC's chart you can choose which gauge doubles the length/ ohms ratio to get 6-8 wraps on each to get it how you liked with 32G.

Do you see what I mean here?
