So, before finding the 500 mesh and thick wick method, did anybody here ever run the double wick; the little wick tucked inside the bigger wick?
Did a burn test on the kerosine lamp with one and it actually wicked the same as long as you wrap it tight what difference could it make if the mesh is in two pieces. If you make the small one loose in the large one it wicks less, but you get the same effect as a large center hole where thermal rising pumps juice up.

Yeah, that makes complete sense, but I figured since this thread was made in the interest of determining the effectiveness of wicks through trial and observation, it would only make sense to see if you (or anybody else) actually tested that method to see how it worked.

I got 2 pieces of mesh with my chinnese clone did, dud, whatever and cant do a thick wick without combining the two. As for yesterday I have 1 less layer of skin on my left thumb. Couldn't get the combined two meshed tightly enough...

That's all I had to work with too. Using both definitely improved things, but I sure hope I can get it better when I can afford some more mesh.

I tried rolling with my fingers for a while. Progress was very slow. Then I used a small board to roll my mesh on a wooden cutting board... pressure on the forward roll (if that doesn't work, turn the mesh around, or use pressure on the back roll). Had it rolled a little too tight in about a minute.

Just received from The Mesh Company my order for 200mm x 300mm of #500.
Two samples were included, 200mm x 300mm of #200. The thickness is super fine. Feels like silk
and a 135mm x 125mm of #1400. I think it's #1400. It's not marked liked the other 2 sheets. The thickness is super THICK. I thought several sheets were stuck together but I can't separate it so it must be one sheet.

A letter from Chris Platt was included saying that they are currently working on new materials that can be used by the e-cig market.
These materials are designed to be cheaper, and just as good for the very fine filtration job that they require.

But we need your help!

This sheet is #200 x #1400 mesh, with an 11-13 micron aperture.
Is this something that is suitable for e-cig wicking?
It is a very rare material, but we have an abundant stock of it from a recent acquisition.
