Time for an update. I'm still waiting on the new batteries to get here. I have started using the pass-through less that I was. It's just not doing the job I had hoped for. If the stronger battery doesn't work I will be trying the

PS Manual USBpass (Dura/510)

At Puresmoker.com. It is more expensive but seems to be a real pass-through.

Hi I came across this photo of a 510 pass thru, and it looks like the USB wire is made to be plugged and unplugged to the battery. This looks great, I would love to have batteries where I could just plug them into the USB, as opposed to changing the battery everytime I use it. Has anyone purchased one like this and if so how is the performance compare to the older style?

Well, here's my final update on the 510 pass through. The eBay vendor skipped out and I never received the 500ma 10440 batteries. But I did find the Widows had some 600ma 10440 batteries. I received it yesterday in the mail and let it charge overnight.

I must say that it is an improvement over the 360ma battery that came with it. But, it still falls off too quickly for me. I am disappointed with the performance of this device. There is a design problem with this unit that needs to be addressed. There is a severe loss of power to the atomizer. The main culprit is more than likely the long length of very small wiring used in the units construction. There is probably too much voltage drop. I know that the stock 510 batteries contain a very much smaller, 180ma I believe, battery and use very small wiring but for only a short distance. The 600ma battery should be able to out perform the stock battery even without the small boost from the USB port.

The bottom line is that I do not recommend this device. It just isn't able to do the job of providing constant power for the atomizer. On payday I will be purchasing the PS Manual USBpass (Dura/510) from Pure Smoker.

I'm with ya all the way on this one. I upgraded the wiring and even removed the battery box to straight 5 volt plug. Still did not help as the switch shorted from the higher voltage. The battery box looks like it might be a good box mod if I can fit a switch inside but otherwise it is a complete waste except for the connector. A higher mah batt worked better but only for a short time, don't know if batts don't like being charged all the time or just have a very short lifespan.

I was amazed when I took apart one of my old stock batteries. The battery is tiny even compared to a AAA battery. And the wiring is some of the smallest I have ever seen. But it still kicks the pass through's .....

I have made a nicostick using a 14500 900ma battery and I really have a great performing 510 now. Nicowolf's plans are really simple and it really works well!

I haven't tried that one and no one else has posted that they have. That company makes their own version of the 510. It is very close in design to the Joye-510 but not exactly the same. We already know from posts about the "new" attys that have some trouble fitting the joye 510 cartridges. You could try one and let us know what you think?

Hello, I'm about to order a pass thru for the 510, however I'm noticing that on every picture there seems to be like a compartment at the middle of the cable... it seems to have like a cover, what is it for?? do I have to place a battery inside it?

If so, what kind of battery? normal AA? AAA? is it to give more amps to the 510? more volts? isn't the usb output enough??

From what I'd understand is that the normal pass thru reduces the 5v of the usb port to something like 3 or so, is it that the 510 needs more v's or amps?

The manual battery that came with my 510 would make it impossible for me to really have a workable e-smoking routine without my passthrough. I ordered my PT along with my 510 and have never looked back. The few times that I've had to go bat only for a day at work because I foolishly left my PT at home every 2 hours pretty much on the dot I was having to switch and recharge. That kind of sucked. With the PT I smoke all day at work on the PT and save the bat for the drive to work and the drive home. PERFECT!

Replacing products from china doesn't seem very realistic. They are not made to last forever. Anything they replace i am sure comes right out of there pocket. And most of the suppliers i think work out of the garage and have to have a full time job. So there not making hand over fist. I hope this changes but they would have to really charge what normal retail prices are which are 70-200% increase after shipping cost from china and i'm not seeing that from most of them. Back to the 510 batteries inless you use a passthru your kinda stuck with the small battery life. It's part of having such a powerful PV be so small. i deal with it i've become good to always have 3-4 batteries with me at work incase i'm stressed. and had home i have my PCC next to me charging a battery so i can switch batterys often since i vape 10 times more while gaming.

I'd hope that my suppliers would stand behind their products, and replace defective hardware. That's just me.

I will just keep mine and use the parts on a battery mod. I know the merchant I bought mine from didn't design or make the PT. It has a design problem and if I could get a refund from the manufacturer I would try to do so. It's not the merchants fault. Besides it didn't cost much.

I actually agree with you guys and don't want to in any circumstances hold the merchant responsible. I had considered just asking them how many complaints they get in order to make sure mine is like the others. Funny thing, though, I just used it for a while and it actually wasn't too bad. I just got it on Monday, so maybe it took a couple of days of total rest while charging to really come alive. I think this battery is a goofy idea, but one thing I can say is that my Kensington power pack will last a loooong time this way before it needs a charge.

Have you considered that this is like saying that if you bought a Sony TV from Best Buy, got it home, and it didn't work, you would not first take it back to Best Buy and ask them to exchange it for a working model?

Retailers deal with manufacturers, most consumers deal with a retailer. They exchange the defective product you were sold with a working one, and then they in turn address receiving faulty stock from the manufacturer.

If you do not let them know that you received bad product, then they don't know their manufacturer is sending them bad product, then no problem is solved. This is a poor choice.

There is a much higher investment with a TV. The unit isn't defective, it has a design problem. It works great for a short while, then performance drops. It would work if the circuit built into the battery box were designed differently. I have a battery in the PT that has 3 times the capacit of the battery in a stock batteryy unit. It should work well.
