Just got the wife a 501 pass-through this weekend. They have a 1CR10440 battery inline with the pass-through. On one the battery got hot, quite hot even to touch, when it was on the USB on the computer. It quit working after what appeared to be thermal runaway. Does anybody know why there is a battery inline on the pass-through? The 901's I have don't have a battery on them like this and I was wondering why there is one on the 510's.

So what's the point of having a battery? Is there another product that would work as well for the 510 that does not have a battery? I've only been vaping for about 6 weeks so a lot of this is still new to me so please excuse any dumb questions. I did look through the threads and couldn't find anything relating to this problem.
Thanks for the help.

My 510 passthrough works fine on a USB wall adaptor and with an USB adapter in the car. It also works plugged into my laptop. I think the battery in the passthrough powers the atty and whatever the passthrough is plugged into only recharges the battery. Before I began using the passthrough I charged the battery for a few hours. I have no complaints so far.

Try Puresmoker pt's, I have their 801 pt with a 510 adapter on the way, I'm sure it will be every bit as awesome as their 801 pt. I have 3 other pt, they don't even compare to Puresmoker's. They are 39.95 plus shipping about twice that of other pt's, but worth every penny. No battery needed, just a usb connection, plug in and vape. Good Luck

So I plugged the PT into the wall charger and left it there until a few minutes ago. It's a miracle, good as new!!! :D

Since I have no clue about batteries and such, it seems strange that when you plug an IPod into the USB it charges itself while playing or just sitting there. Different battery types I guess.

Will this PT end up producing less vape as the battery gets low like a regular ecig battery? I really hadn't noticed.

One more thing to remember to charge.

I'll have to contradict my earlier post on this thread. After four days of working admirably my 510 passthrough has apparently committed suicide. It no longer works in any decent fashion no matter what I plug it into. I'm currently letting the passthrough battery charge for a few hours hoping that gives it a second wind.

UPDATE: The problem is with the PT switch. Most times the switch won't work, sometimes it provides some vapor, occasionally it provides great vapor. I'll contact the supplier about the problem.

I want to scream.. My passthrough was great and never needed to charge the battery with constant vaping for a month.. Then it died so I bought a recharger and 4 extra batteries.. I've had the batteries charging for the past 24 hours, tried to contect 2 differant ones to my passthrough.. One didn't work and the other died in less than 5 minutes... I'm confused as to how to plug this in (yeah I'm stupid), and don't know why these aren't charging...

I just orderd a manual pass-through from RMV for my 510, is it different from the battery inline pass-throughs that have been discussed in this thread?

I can't wait to find out the answer to this one.. I'm still recharging these batteries and nothing is happening.. I wish someone tech savy would pop into this thread.. Would love to know if the problem is the batteries or the charger.. And also if this passthrough is good or not that you've purchsed.. Plus, what's "RMV"??? The only thing I can come up with is that without the battery, maybe once you unplug it, it won't work since with the battery you can keep a charge for awhile???? To me that wouldn't matter since I either hook it up to the usb port or the car, or the outlet anyway...

The design of the 510 passthrough, with the battery is dumb.
All it does, is make it useless. IT limits the battery power.
Instead of getting close to 5 volts, directly from the USB, like u should, u get the same as a regular battery. I ordered one from psmoker too. Its on its way.
Cant wait to see how it does.

Oh!!!! I'm going to have to buy one of these non-battery ones... This is driving me insane!!!!

Someone, somewhere, said that the 510 atomizer doesn't take well to 5 volts. Yes/no? I assumed the inline battery was to keep the atomizer powered at 3.7 volts. Any advice would be appreciated. Does the PC usb port provide 5 volts? And someone said the PC usb port only provides 100 milliamps. Not electrical savvy, so anyone who knows, please chime in.
