I got my passthrough from RMV. I loved using it all last night but this morning I'm getting mini shocks from it and it's very uncomfortable. Yes, my hands are DRY and I'm NOT touching the gold bands. My dry fingers are very carefully only touching the black.

Wait, I'm going to try something before I send this.

Okay, so I tried unplugging it and using it that way. It's vaping and I'm not getting shocked. Do the shocks I got mean it was overcharged? Do I have to periodically plug and unplug it while I use it? That's just strange and makes me think, "is this much different than switching batteries back and forth from my PCC to my e-cig I'm using?"

Anyway, unplugging it solved my shock problem, so far... I think.

I just got a USB (manual switch) PT for my Joye510. I charged the battery for over 8 hours. When I first tried it, nothing. So, I unplugged it from the computer and measured the voltage from the battery. It checked OK. Then, I put the battery back in, plugged it back into the computer and measured the voltage from the tip of the piece that screws into the atty. It appeared that the switch was working intermittently, but when it made contact, the voltage was the same reading as it was on the battery alone (makes sense). I tried vaping with it again, and although it worked, the vapor level was very low compared with the batteries that come with the 510.

I read somewhere here where one user removed the battery and soldered a wire to bridge where the battery would have been. He/she reported greatly increased vapor production after this mod.

I, too, am wondering if the higher voltage directly off a USB connection (5V? -- I haven't measured it yet) would be harmful to the 510's atty. Does anyone have any experience using higher voltage on 510 atty's? How do they hold up?

I just got my 510 pass from totallywicked today and charged it for 8 hours while using, unplugged it and still working great... I find that its giving the same vape from the regular batts... I don't see why they need the battery, cause the batt fully charged is 5v and the usb ports run 5v..... But I also did get the mega power batt that I think other people in the forums would appreciate as well as the 54mg liquid thats coming out should give a better yet stronger throat hit in my opinion....

Hello everyone,

I just ordered one, I'm waiting for it :)

USB port provides ~5Volts at 100 mA.

Elapid said the inline battery was a 1CR10440 but I can't find it anywhere on google :(

However eastmall has spare bats for the 510 PT, they claim to be 3.7Volts 360mAh

The question is... is it wired in series or parallel? as far as I remember (please correct me if i'm wrong) in series the voltage is added and the current stays the same, in parallel the voltage stays the same and the current is added?

so,
parallel = 5v 460mA ??
series = 8.7v 100mA ??

All the battery connections that I have seen uses same bats... now sure how it is done when you have different types...

Another question... what's the V and current of the normal 510 manual battery??

with the PT's that have the inline battery it just gives the 3.7v nominal voltage to the atty. The battery just supplies the current that is needed for the atty to operate effectively. Now the PT's that don't have a battery are direct wired and give 5 volts to your atty but those you need to plug into a USB hub or AC/USB adapter or some other device that is capable of supplying the current needed for the atty, which is approx 1.56 amps at 5 volts.

I have a usb PT , the circuit board says janty kissbox , the bat is a 320mAh . I took the battery out and the back cover off , then I used a wire to jump the + in to the the + out and the same with the - to - .

The PT went from being ok to now it crush's me with vapor , the passthrough and the lipton PTB , plus some razor blade action to the cart for added air flow and I'm in vapor dream land .

Just a question, for those who have one of this PT, does it have and integrated circuit of some kind in the battery box?

I have been researching a little and the specifications for usb says that you can get up to 500mA of the usb bus, however it seems that the manufacturers doesn't implement any fuse or similar to limit this, so if your device sucks more than 500mA it will fry the board...

Also if the battery is wired in parallel (for charging) it must have some kind of integrated circuit to monitor and control the currency, otherwise the battery will over charge (and maybe explode) :p

Anyways I think it's not a good idea to bypass the battery, at least that you are using an active usb hub (connected to the power outlet) in the middle....

rfw2003, are you sure the 510 attys needs 5v and 1.56A? I don't think the normal batteries of the 510 have that capacity...

I tested a fully charged battery with the meter and it showed 4 volts, I supposed that with some use it will go down to ~3.7 and stay there for a while.

If you apply 5 volts to the atty it sure will provide lots of vapor, but I don't think that will be good for the atty, I'm almost sure you will have to replace it more frequent.... or maybe not, maybe they are strong enough to work at 5volts for a month or so and the reason the batteries are close to 4 is size related...

I'll do more tests and let you know :)

it's not that they need 5 volts to operate properly, but they do perform better at that voltage IMHO. The stock batteries are nominal at 3.7 volts but at full charge they are approx 4.2 volts. Now according to Ohm's law at 5 volts they will draw approx 1.56amps of current, and at 4.2 volts they will draw approx 1.31 amps of current. Now to clarify for you what you were seeing earlier you were confusing the batteries lasting capability which is MAH as compared to what it can supply in current. MAH or milieamp hours is how much it can supply over a 1 hour period so a battery that has 360 mah can only supply 360ma over 1hour of time or .36amps constant for 1 hour.

rfw2003,

Thanks for your explanation, I measured my battery and it was 3.89V, and the atty resistance 2.9Ohms, so the currency should be around 1.34A

But hooked directly to the usb, it will be 5/3 = 1.7A I think that will be too much for the usb port...

Yes it would be a bit much for a direct connection to most computers USB ports. I suggest a USB hub or a AC to USB adapter such as the IQ one that can output 2 amps of current.

Yes, I think the perfect gadget for me will be a PT that I can hook to the car 12V DC output or the wall AC output, not so much to a usb port, since if I'm using a computer for sure I'll have an AC outlet close...

I'll wait for my PT to be here and use it until the inline battery dies and then I will try to mod it into what I'm really looking for... Is it possible to buy the female 510 battery plug alone?

I purchased my PT from MadVapes, have it hooked up to an AC USB hubs and it work great. Have used it heavy day and night for the last two weeks with no problems. Today I put on an adaptor and a GreenCig carto and am loving it. I don't think I'll go back to the 510 atty again. One day I'll get the 901 PT that doesn't have the in line battery but for now this is working well for me.

May peace and joy fill your life, today and everyday!

This is the first time I ever heard of MadVapes.. Looked at the site and it is definately sweet with great prices.. Thank You for mentioning them...

As far as my passthrough, it was working great and I kept it plugged in 24/7, then all of a sudden it went dead and tried a number of new batterys.. Dead.. Completely... I thought I put it somewhere but must have threw it out in a moment of anger... My ideal would be one without a battery (I always seem to have trouble with batterys), but I cannot pay $69.99 for one... 8-o
