Maybe it's just me but the way that all this drama over the ceramic coils in the Vaporesso seem to coincide almost perfectly with the release of this Altus tank strikes me as odd.
The demonizing of all things ceramic while simultaneously (somewhat) releasing info on this new tank, which by the way was already in the hands of reviewers before any of us heard anything about it, seems a bit sketchy. Time will tell I guess but I still say something is odiferous.

Two more ceramic contesters:

Geekvape UBDC
Eleaf ECC

The latter might be compatible with the Target Tank.
I have not found a horizontal ceramic stick or tube with a coil around it yet that works satisfactorily.

The Geekvape UBDC uses a ceramic tube.

aeolusubdc-260x500.jpg

Parameter:
Resistance: 1.0Ω
Wattage range: 10-20w
Expected service life: 20 days
Free of cotton, Ultimo Biological Drainage Coil

Double life cycle than normal coil
Dry burn allowable, you can continue vaping after dry burning, no burnt smell
Can be installed and used directly without dumping out your juice
Full Ni-plated housing

It's rated at only 20W. :( What is the material used for the 2 side inserts that hold the ceramic? And why would they plate it with Nickel?!!! They don't specify the wire type, but at 1.0Ω, it's probably Kanthal.

The Eleaf ECC is another tube ceramic with the coil wrapped around it.

ECC%20Head_02.jpg

Parameter:
Heating wire: Nickel 200 (dual coils)
Resistance: 0.15Ω
Wick material: Ceramic
Compatible with: TC-Ni mode
From the looks of it, it's a very thin tube with a large juice flow hole through it. But at least it's a TC Head.

With all the ceramic controversy that has been stirred up, they should release MSDS Reports, but Performance of the tube ceramics is questionable, IMO. I don't think I'm interested in the Geekvape UBDC because of the Nickel Plating. The Eleaf ECC would fit in my Melo 2 Tank and Target Tank, so I'd be willing to try it once the ceramic is proven safe.

Only Resellers have the Altus, that I know of. But the Heating Coil (CVU) does not appear to be ceramic. It is semitransparent. You can see the Heating Element inside.

GUO will be releasing information about the CVU shortly.

Vaping Fagan just did a live review of the device, rip trippers has it in hand, Mike vapes has it in hand and is preparing a review as we speak. Seems like they did a good job of getting this device out to reviewers precisely when the hype began to break and the competition, at least ceramics wise was still reeling.

I knew they were going to get one, but I didn't know they had it already. What were your impressions?

It looked like a real pita to me. His first wicking attempt produced nasty dry hits which were live for all to see. His second wicking attempt was painful to watch and took a very long time and even then produced anemic amounts of vapor at 25 watts. We're talking ego fixed voltage 3.7 volt style vapor. It wasn't until he brought the device up to 75 watts that anything resembling respectable vapor was produced. I don't know about this one? I don't know... By the way, Wicking the device itself seem particularly cumbersome to me. I think I'll stick with my simple titanium coils for now and let this play out in someone else's pocket book.

Another strike against the device is that it didn't perform well on the DNA 200 again. Seems the DNA real time reading of the ohms and adjusting of the voltage create a bad scenario for this unit. The device worked better when he switched it over to another mod but a lot of people aren't going to like its incompatibility with the DNA 200. I'm sure you've heard that they are saying they're going to release the TC numbers which would make it usable on the DNA but as of yet they haven't

A lot of people are making videos, but not putting the cotton on the CVU correctly. I started watching Mark's video, but I was not going to waste my time watching him fumble his way through it. They proper way to use it has been covered already.

There is a video by GUO about how to do wick it and use it properly. That part appears to be rather painless to me.

That video also shows how to fill it.

In a live video with Eric Rubin of Origin Vape, he said that they art working on a Top-Fill Tank for the CVU.

The video is pretty long, but I found it worth the watch.

Eric did not state if he tried Ohms Lock on the DNA200 or not. Another thing that could be done that might help would be to turn off Preheat. I have not seen what anyone has done to come to the conclusion that the DNA200 is not a good match for the CVU. I wish I knew what all has been tried to come to that conclusion.

A TCR and/or TFR Spec should help a lot. But they are so afraid of releasing information over the possibility of Cloning that they might miss the boat on this one. :(

Yeah I saw the video with Eric of origin vape and I believe he was the other person I saw that said he was having trouble with it on the DNA 200. I also watched the creators video and yes he made it look easy but it needs to be easy 4 real vapers in the real world under real-world settings to be viable in my opinion. But yeah I completely agree that. Was the epitome of a clumsy attempt.

I agree with you completely that until we see the device in the hands of a very competent reviewer such as A p busardo we won't really know if there's a true incompatibility. It's so speculative at this point it almost makes my head spin. By the way how are things over at the beach?:)

I wish I was the MikeVapes of Origin Vape. I'd love to get devices from them as often as he does. Why they would send something (anything) to Mark is beyond me, especially something of this magnitude.

Nice pics

Looks like a fuse/resistor

Still a too much of a mishmash of materials in the connector part alone for me, someone else can vape that

Still in the hell no column

Actually you're a pretty good writer and have an unusual knack for pulling things into focus...Perhaps ramp up your own (reviewers) hype machine and put out the word that your accepting competent devices for legitimate reviews?
A lot of these new you tube reviewers are glorified Yes men IMO... They'll rarely give a poor review unless the whole pack does (kim-sun). Anyways, I wish you had one of these Altus tanks too. I'd love to hear your honest take on the device as a whole.

the video with the guy from originvapes was interesting but man i don't understand his whole part about the DNA 200

if the resistance of the heating element rises then the mod needs to put out more voltage to maintain the wattage. that is how it should be. maybe I didn't understand him right but if the mod didn't do that the wattage would just drop off more and more.

You're right and I don't really get it either. .unless the DNA is running an algorithm in which the devices materials and their properties weren't considered.?

I think this is the case more than anything else. All TC wires rise in resistance as the heat goes up. That's the way they are analyzed by a TC device to calculate the Temperature. I think that once the TCR/TFR Specs are released, the issue will be resolved.

Well were up to 3 units. I let my mom have my SS mod and moved over to my rx200 with a herk plus but all that tank will do is spit and gurgle. So I order a new rose gold for my mom but, while we waited for it my wife's SS mod's screen started gliching. It also was not reading the battery properly. So back that one goes.
I did get a triton 2 try the cCell in till. A new model arrives.
With all this crap I might wait for a target version 2

So, as an owner of two Vaporesso Target's I was a bit bummed when I heard the allegations of toxicity... Once I did I set aside my Target cCell tanks and have just been using my Subtanks. I've been following along here and on Reddit/etc since then but just wondering if there's been any updates or what you all think about the situation? I'm tempted to say "oh well, you only live once" and keep on vaping it (cause it's sooooo freaking good), but the other half of me says I shouldn't risk it till more new comes to light...
