901 Adapter to KR808D

Hey hey, so I bought a Protege that came with an adapter for a 901.

My existing 901 adapter looks to be drilled out for using cartomizers with it, this new one does not.

How hard would it be to drill it out on my own since it was bought second hand?

Well, I'd recommend using a drill press, since its so dificult to drill a hole through a curved surface, but other than that its not to bad, just be very carefull.

Ya good idea. Too bad I don't have access to a drill press ... arg.

I'm thinking perhaps a small 901 to 808 adapter might be the safer route.

Back a long long long time ago (3 months) before the 901's came drilled, I'd simply pop the adapter out of the center cap and slice it on one side and into the center post with a dremel.
Bingo!! Cart adapter You're going for a nice clean, thin slice or it'll be a little airey.

I still have some of my adapters like that and they work fine.

Nice and easy. Much safer to make a small slice with a dremel with a cut off wheel than to try and drill on a curve with a hand drill.

Done right, this method can give a stiffer draw than on the PureSmoker adapter, much closer to a KR8 battery. One I modified has become the standard adapter on my PT. The only disadvantage is they are a little harder to clean.

So you mean to make a thin channel up the threads from the base to the top and over where the hole usually is?

Would someone be able to post a pic of it?

P.S. how do you pop out the adapter piece?

If it's in the stainless housing you can center punch the center out and that'll loosen the outer ring. Place it back togther, slice it and then re-install.

I agree on the performance. My V1 and Prodigy both run the dremel cut adpaters.
The V2 is really nice though. The draws comparable (at least on mine)..

Sorry if this sounds stupid, but with it dremel cut, it will still work with a 901 atty right?

How's the draw on those with the cut?

Yes, still works wonderfly with the 901. I did post some pictures of the mod back in December in the PureSmoker group.
