What a great thread UncleChuck! Not too long ago I asked a question on a thread because I was seriously interested in learning more! What I got was a rude response that made me feel unwilling to ask further questions. We are here because we value learning and having support from a great community! The responses on this thread have reminded me of why I joined ECF! There are wonderful people here!

I monitor other forums unrelated to vaping and I would not dare post on those as the inane, vicous,
and immature responses at times really shock me.
This is a comfortable atmosphere with a lot of great folks, but, here's the "but monkey" I too have seen some of the snide and snarky stuff sneak in here and I hate to see it.

Being a veteran of gaming forums I will say even the snide and snark here is very tame to other places. I haven't seen anyone threaten to show up at someone's house and set it on fire so there's that.

I discovered reddit a couple of weeks ago....

...holy moley!!! I now appreciate this site and many others that I frequent a million times more. Seriously you guys are amazing; black and white difference between ECF and other sites. That said I do see those posts you guys are talking about. I usually just ignore and move on.

Ed and I were just having this discussion this morning..we've clearly gone different ways with what we both consider to be a satisfying vape and ribbing each other about our gear warm heartedly as couples are prone to do.:p

and commented that no matter what vape it is a eGo to a God Box we're all vapers and it's a SUBJECTIVE thing.

none better than the other..but a satifying vape to the individual (so that they don't smoke). That's what's important.

I agree.

I think it's a good thing and a bad thing, and a difficult balance.

I am very happy that vaping has spread so widely, and is growing at an incredibly fast pace.

But a necessary consequence of that is a change in the community. A bigger audience means more diversity. If you were here in the "blue foam" days, ECF is an extremely different place now. But it should be; it's serving the vaping community, and the community is changing. Used to be a somewhat technical crowd, now it's mainstream. How many other forums handle a population in the age range of 18-99+? (and a few in the 18- bracket who sneak in!)

Yes, there are some people here who are rude, argumentative, or who just like to put people down. And sometimes it seems that they're the ones posting the most. (mea culpa) But when the door is open for all (as it should be!) you will get all kinds of people, of all ages, and some of them are going to be people you really don't like. It's not that different than real life; at least you don't have to work for them!

I do wish that some folks here were nicer, or at least more respectful. But there's a lot of very great folks around here; I try to enjoy that, ignore the ones that rile me, and try to not piss other people off too frequently.

Totally agree, people are just narrow minded. I love all vapes from cigalikes to mech's to regulated mods from rta's to clearos to rda's, and as a matter of fact I use them all lol. My cigalikes handle my cravings just fine, which is another thing, I think people forget the whole point of vaping all too often which is to quit smoking, if it works it works.

Drama sells. Message boards are fuelled by negativity and criticism. This is nothing new. As much as this forum may be different, it's still a forum. And like most people said, as popularity of vaping grows, so does the peanut gallery.

The thing I like best about these types of threads, are reading posts from people that pretty much only post in these types of threads. They'll give a long opinion about the trolls on the Internet, but are silent in most other threads. Again, peanut gallery. It's similiar to YouTube. The most heated controversial comments always get the most attention. People love drama. It is what it is.

Oh wow, the "Blue Foam Days", I love that!
Can I use it?
:)

I'd like to think things were simpler back then, but that would not really be accurate.
But we did walk uphill in the snow both ways to vape.

It's different now. Back in the "Blue Foam" days, commercial e-cigs really sucked, and ECF was the frontier; people trying all kinds of stuff, and every once in a long while the release of some new vaping thing to ooh and aah over. If you wanted a good vape, you made it yourself. Not to mention, these were the formative years for juice vendors.

I do miss those days; back then ECF was the place to find stuff, nowadays all you need is the yellow pages. (I'm assuming the yellow pages still exist, and that at least some of you have seen The Shawshank Redemption!)

It's a byproduct of ECF's popularity. I'm sure there's no higher ratio of antagonists but as user numbers increase, the number of antagonists increases. It's a cancer every huge forum must endure. 5 years ago we shouted down and quickly banned the people that only came to boards to stir up drama. Problem is the most obnoxious voices always seem to be the loudest. Mods tire of trying to regulate an increasing number of these hot-headed know-it-alls and out-and-out trolls and inevitably lower what is a bannable offence. I share and appreciate the OP's sentiment but asking jerks to not be jerks generally yields poor results and likely makes you a target for said jerks.

The ECF mods do a great job of keeping the true scum out and I wouldn't ask them to double their workload to control the questionables. All you can realistically do is ignore these people and another reason why I think more forum software needs an "ignore" function. Nothing annoys a troll more than being ignored.

I have one person ignored. If I had not ignored this so and so, I would have been banned from ECF for life. Ms. Robino1 would have long ago run out of patience with me.
