My vaping history: I began vaping in 4/2012 with Smokeless Image Volt cigalikes and their e-go clone X2 batteries. They got me off of cigarettes, but I quickly grew tired and frustrated by the short battery usage and limited juice attachments that Smokeless Image offered. Within 3 - 4 weeks, I began looking into mods. I focused on SI's sister company AltSmoke.

I received both a BB and Silver Bullet mechanical mod and began using cartotanks as my primary juice attachments and was quite pleased with my experience. Then a couple of months later I was able to experience a Kicked Silver Bullet that the owner of AltSmoke allowed me to try in their Columbus B&M. I could easily see how having the option to adjust my voltage could improve my flavors. I could have Kicked my own Silver Bullet, but I change flavors at least 3 - 4 times a day, and to have to pull my SB apart each time to adjust the Kick didn't sound like a practical option for me. I did a lot of research on ECF, and the most highly regarded APV was the Provari.

I received my first Provari in 8/2012. I can't say enough about the way this device is constructed and how it vapes. Since that time I have become a hobbyist and collected other VV mods, but none can compare. My intent was to leave the hefty and not so pocket-friendly Provari at home and find a more portable VV device to use outside the house. I went from a Smoktech VV Gripper (buttons fell into the mod after a few weeks use) to a Segelei V8 (higher quality build, but still Chinese-made electronics), and found that I was still grabbing for the Provari when I left home because I preferred the vape quality. I decided to not try to find another Chinese-made mod as they all use the same cheap 33.3 hz PWM chip.

For my 1 year smoke-free anniversary, I awarded myself with my second Provari, this time a Mini Provari. It is now my go-to mod when I leave the house, and I use both of my Provari's 90% of the time while home. I've had a Vapage VMod bottom feeder mod for a few months now, and although its a nice and different vaping experience, I still prefer my Provari's whether it is with my trusty and dependable cartotanks or my sometimes fussy and unpredictable RBAs. I've also since purchased the tiny mechanical Smoktech Gripper to use as a stealth mod for use in the cinema, and won a MVP in a raffle giveaway; great mod that I used a lot, but I payed it forward to a close friend who is currently using it to stop smoking. Aside from the wonderful feel of quality in holding a Provari, it's vaping experience is just indescribably better. It may be due to its Accuset chipset which keeps the voltage constant and precise from the beginning of the battery until it needs replaced, or its 800 hz PWM which makes the vape seem smoother to me.

I like supporting US companies that make an excellent product and don't mind paying a little more to be supporting American workers. I'm a fairly simple vapor who doesn't have a use for variable wattage, an OLED screen, a puff counter, a need to monitor my vaping habit on a computer program, and I don't find the one button design of the Provari to be an issue. Although I don't physically abuse my mods, I have confidence that if I drop my Provari on concrete or tile it will not hurt it. I have a sense of security of knowing that in the unlikely event that should either of my Provari's need repair, that Provape will be there for as long as I own my Provari's and that I will have them back good as new within a weeks time.

I think I fit the typical Provari owner. My priorities in choosing the ideal mod include dependability, predictability, consistancy, durabiltiy, repairability, and a superior vaping experience. The Provari excells in these categories and more. It's often difficult to put into words, and I often say that until you hold one, vape one, and own one, you won't understand.

The State of Confusion
I have 5 Puresmoker mechanical mods, super reliable and built like tanks, you cannot hurt one.

Well after vaping for 4 years and looking at all VV mods I went with Provari because of dependability, durability, etc., all as mentioned above!

It is the finest VV out there! And I have never owned another, why waste the money?

I mean I had the money to buy one, but I have been happy with my mechs...well I wanted a VV and I took the plunge!

I am sooo happy I never bought anything else as far as a VV mod!

Durability, well the inevitable happened today, I dropped it on concrete, I cannot find a mar or ding on it anywhere!

Of course it's all US made, so whats not to love!

Company is also top notch to deal with!

I am buying another w/ a Blue LED....:vapor:

I started with a disposable Blu over a month ago. I made that thing last almost a week. My second lasted 4 days, my third lasted a few hours. I needed something that would last a while, that was reliable, rugged, and had a warranty. I decided to skip right to the Provari. I considered a Lavatube V2 and I kept reading, "If you can afford it, go with the Provari."

I have a couple other hobbies that mirror my vaping view: shooting and music.

In pistol terms, I'd compare the mid priced apv's to anything from a Lorcin to a Taurus semi auto. The Provari to me is like a 1911. I would compare it to a Glock in terms of reliability, but Provari pricing puts it in a 1911 category for me. I still haven't found a "Glock" in the APV world.

In music terms, I play bass, so I'd compare the mid priced apv's to Squier basses. They go from the Bullet on up to Classic Vice Vibe, which rivals the Mexican made Fenders. A Provari would be an American Standard Fender.

The only thing different to me between vaping and shooting/music, is the huge second hand market. If you're willing to buy used you can spend mid-range money on a well-used reliable tool. Vaping hasn't been around that long. In the end, if you can hit the 10x ring all the time, it really doesn't matter what you're using. Just like a true musician can make any playable instrument sound good. Buy within your budget, or save up- it's your choice.

I really would like to try all those new mods from Innokin, iVape, Vamo, Volcano, but I've read a lot of problems/issues with them. I don't want to tinker with them if I need to-- I have my Ahab fountain pens for that. I want something to work even if I drop it on the concrete or a puddle. If it doesn't work, I want to send it in for service. I buy Craftsman, Snap-on, or Park tools whenever possible because of the warranty. Some are happy with Harbor Freight tools. It's your choice, not mine. Vape, have fun, blow big clouds!

Wow Guys! This is perfect.

Baditude thanks for taking the time to share your vape history with me. It really helps me understand the true advantages. :)

nomeX!!! A fellow bass player, right on! Considering that I own an Alembic and while I love my Fenders for nostalgic reasons, they don't come close to the quality and feel of the original Pbass or my Alembic. The comparisons are helpful.

Buy American (big bonus), High end components, warranty, reliability, quality vape? I pretty much want one now for sure! I think I will start with a Mini. It may be a bit more dainty for a lady ;)

And my oh my...it comes in purple!!!!! :D

You may find the mini is all you'll ever need. There's always the option of the extension sleeve that'll allow a 18490,
But the difference isn't all that significant and small is what the mini is all about, it's reason for being.

That's the reason I bought one, actually; a saw one in a local B&M and was impressed by large, first-rate engineering enclosed in such a tight, well made space. The best the vaping world had to offer all but disappeared into the palm of my hand.

And you are the gender allowed to carry a purse, arter all--and a spare 18350.

I started with a provari mini. Easy controls to adjust voltage and check atomizer. Still use carto tanks some, but lately have been really happy with kanger and kanger protank 2. I have been very happy with it. It goes everywhere with me. Super reliable. It has allowed me to quit smoking. I see a lot of people with other systems struggling with quitting the stinkies. I have no regrets on my purchase. I keep four AW 18350 batteries in my rotation with a Xtar VP-1 charger.

I started on the cheap stuff too - ego, ego twist, and a couple other things, when vaping took hold and I realized I want to stick with it I decided to just buy one device once. searching around the provari had the least amount of complaints an failures so I decided to only buy an APV once and be done with it.

still have my original one and works like new. was a year last month i believe and it has been beat around more then I like to admit.

i started with a 510 cigalike, quickly grew tired of constantly swapping batteries, next step was a diy madvapes 3.7v box mod which lasted about 2 weeks before deciding to try the vv box mod from them as well.... next was a vmax followed by a saber touch then on to provari which I'm quite happy with and don't plan on needing any other apv, maybe a mini, or another full size... can't quite decide lol.

for my decision to get one, I've always liked the ease of use on the menu from the first time i had read about provari so i finally took the plunge and found one on the classifieds for a good price and I'll gladly purchase a new one from provape when i get the extra funds rolling in.

Ah yes, the purse....small yet full of mystery!

I am looking at the kit and a Protank 2. I suppose that makes the most sense so I don't have to add on the whole battery and charger deal.

Do you happen to know if the pass-through gear works on a mini? I was a horrible "smoke while I drive" person and I have an hour to an hour and a half commute full of aggravation. O_O

BTW, also an IT geekette, ADDS and Infrastructure...love the gadgetry ;)

Today is my 60th day of Vaping. It is my 5th day with a Provari mini.

I started with an ego twist and a tiny BBC. It got me off cigarettes. Then I bought a second twist after a week.

Started reading this forum and decided to try carto tanks. Started on really cheap thin plastic ones. They really improved my experience. I bought better Pyrex carto tanks. I felt set. Was not ever going to drop big money on a big mod.

At about day 50 my twists were starting to lose their life. I went thru a couple of days short charging them just to keep Vaping. I thought of buying a fresh twist. 30+ bucks.

Then I thought ok, I need something more robust In a local B&M I got to handle a few mods including both Provaries. But because of the price I was leaning toward a Zmax or something.

I used to tease the Provari fans on here. I even teased that the watts from a Provari were somehow magic watts. Then Mr Baditude, and others pointed out that, well , maybe not magic but more precise watts than any other mod.

That sold me, but still, the price.

I was stuck.

Then I checked out Craigslist and found a used mini, at a great price. So I jumped. I got an almost new mini batteries ands charger for the price of a Chinese mod kit.

Well. The last 5 days have been great Vaping. I love the settings and being able to check the ohms of all my different cartos. I know other devices do the same.

I can't compare it to any other devices except the twists. And there is no comparison there. It's like comparing a Smart Car and a Ferrari.

I don't know if I will need or want to buy another mod. If I do, it's going to take something significantly better to get me to buy anything except another Provari.
