Long story short...I bought 3 Kgo knockoff starter kits for friends last Christmas (total= $60). They then turned around and gifted me a Provari. It basically just sat in the corner so I gifted it, with their permission, to a young man I've been mentoring for 12 yrs...from living on the streets to owning a multi $$ biz, I'm VERY proud of him and we are almost like father and son. The one demon he had problems with- yep, smoking. He's now analog free going on 6 months...also a major donor not only to the non profit vape prog I run but also the charity I volunteer at so I believe that particular Provari has good "karma" and once he's finished with it he'll gift it to someone else

VERY, VERY cool story :toast: I have seen your posts many times through out the new members forum. If I didn't already like you, that just put me over the edge!!

Kudos! You rock!!

Well...I'm going to be a lonely camper here...but from what the OP originally said...I think the eGo T Mod is pretty close to unbeatable if budgetary concerns and durablilty/reliability are concerns. Solid metal build, good size and feel, great performance, voltage choice, and completely rebuildable. What is not to love? To be honest....while the Provari is snazzy, I know it's not for me. Would be wasted. I know that for the juice I like (a DIY menthol I "designed" for voltages between 3.3 and 3.7) I like to vape in that mid-range level. I prefer single coil...the dual coils get too hot for me..both the vape and to the touch. I like the eGo Mega single coil cartomizers...1.7 or 2 ohm (although I have some 3 ohm for the occasional VV vape on my Twist or my kGo VV). Anyway....

I wanted something that would LAST....long charge. Be regulated voltage when I wanted a steady reliable consistent 3.4volt vape...or I could "pump it up" if I felt like it on unregulated voltage at 4.2v for more oomph. I wanted a solid build. I wanted to be able to replace any parts that stopped working right or got damaged. I didn't want a lot of extra fru-fru stuff on there that could mess up (LED screens, etc.). I didn't want too big, and I wanted something that was attractive. I wanted something I could use any type delivery system I wanted...atomizers, tanks, various cartomizers, etc. I wanted something compatible with all the accessories I had for the eGo anyway. So the eGo T Mod was logical for me. FOR ME: Who needs a Provari? This thing is what fits the bill on all counts for my wants and needs. I have a LavaTube. Twist. kGo VV. All have good points...but also have issues. Mine are languishing mostly neglected now.

With my eGo T Mod...if the switch goes wonky (like my LT did) I can replace it inexpensively. If the tube get banged up ...or I just want to change colors...I can get another tube. The batteries are 18650 and the device can take as big as you want with the mAh and can afford it. I'm using the batteries that came with my LT and the 2200 Joyetech battery that came with the eGo Mod. That gave me 3 batteries..with mAh's ranging from 1600 to 2200. Oh yeah..did I mention the eGo T Mod is JOYETECH? Yeah. And it's been remodeled and improved since it was released earlier this year. It's a sweet rig. Best vape evah for me! (well...I also do like the Madvapes Gripper...but that is for stealth!! Lovely device!)

I like the word "enables me to do this stuff". Allow sounds like you need her permission. My hubby enables me to explore my options in this endeavor to give up cigarettes. :toast: to Mrs. vapoor eyes er!!!

I have 2 Provari's, one for me and one for my wife, but only I am using it on a daily basis. She prefers to use the Vector Variable Volt because it is cheaper, and in her clumsiness, may damage or even lose the Provari. With that said, I also have Silver Bullets and Ego Twists. The twists are still in the plastic that they were shipped with. The Silver Bullet is an awesome device and works really well with 1.8ohm heads on the Vivi's and 2.0ohm cartos in the tanks.

VV is nice, but is definitely not needed to get started. Buy yourself a Silver Bullet and keep with what I mentioned in the last paragraph. Or, if you're like me and have the disposable cash at hand, buy a Provari or a Darwin from the start. Also buy yourself at least one backup device...it can be two twist batteries or anything else you choose. I started vaping a month ago and bought all my devices at once because I was motivated to do whatever I had to to put analogs down for good.

As for the Vector Variable Volt (Lavatube's)....I'd stay away from them. They seem like they're poorly made and won't last the duration like a Silver Bullet or Provari would. VVV was 70 bucks. Silver Bullet was 85 bucks. Silver Bullet feels like it will last through a F5 tornado. VVV feels as if it will crumble if I sneeze too hard. You can also, if you choose, add a sleeve and kick to the SB to bring the total voltage up to 6.

Good luck and lets get vaping!!!!

I have been searching for over 2 weeks for an affordable, decently reliable, decently durable pv mod. The Lambo 2.0 I have heard has issues with the voltage slowly lowering, and with airy draws. The Young June lavatube has the pwm so the 3.0v setting is more like 4.5, so no normal stuff on it only higher ohms, the Provari is 250 dollars so I cant exactly carry that around with me, I am seriously about to say f mods alltogether and just smoke regular cigs. Can somebody please help me find a decently affordable vv mod that isnt total crap in one way or another, or have big voltage regulation issues, gives you 1.5v more than you set it for, and does not cost 250 dollars? Im getting really frustrated after 2 weeks of searching and talking to people on forums, in live chat, reading reviews and watching them. Its just getting to be too much.
Something USA made would be best, for accurate voltage.

The Lambo from vaporheads.net is very nice. I own both the mini and full sized ones. They are made by J-Lin and don't have the goofy voltage issues with most China made mods. And they are reasonable...$60'ish with shipping.

If you don't want to spend that much, do a search for the Vision Spinner. Very much like the Joye Twist in functionality. Joye is currently having some issues so I don't recommend the Twist right now. I haven't heard anything bad about the Spinner.

Ill throw in another vote on an Ego Twist...

I just picked up the Starter Twist Kit.... for $90 shipped.
I got...

2 650mah batteries (vv upto 4.8)
2 Ego ce5 Clearomizers
10 replacement atomizer heads
usb charger
usb wall charger
carry case that holds 2 fully assembled twist+ce5 ecigs.

It is a really good deal. It is definately something I take with me when I go out.
The case is a tad big...but it isnt that bad considering its all in 1 place.

The twist has been really nice so far. It may lose voltage here or there.
It doesnt have all the bells/whistles as other mods... but its arouund $25 per battery.

I have used it on the Ego ce5 clearomizer, ego LR tank atty, 510 LR tank atty, and a regular 510 drip atty.
All have been good vapes. I just adjust my voltage to whatever ohm I am at on the multimeter.

Its a very small unit, its rugged and made well (ive dropped it twice on my driveway).
Joytech/Ego are a known product and work well.

For the price....you cannot go wrong really.
I plan on getting a Provari for Christmas, but the Twist will probably remain my away from home battery of choice.

Good luck!

Sorry to burst your bubble but the Kgo comes off the charger @ 4.2 volts...as soon as a carto is hooked up and the batt is activated the voltage immediately drops to 3.7.

There's this myth going around that more voltage is better for everything. This simply is untrue. When you get a variable voltage PV you'll find that you aren't pushing the limits all the time in most cases. I started with a 4.2v PV (The KGO) and when I got a Twist I went DOWN to 3.8v where most of my juice and atomizers I had grown to love worked best.

When I got a pair of eGo C Twists (get genuine JoyEtech from Altsmoke is the cheapest right now AFAIK) I took both of them and did a double vape (two ecigs, one vape, simultaneously). I choked HARD from it. What does this tell us? The answer is: more vapor isn't the answer. BETTER vapor is the answer.

The eGo C Twist is all anyone really needs. Everyone should have one, and it's a great place to start. When/if you decide you want to get an APV later you will do so because you want it, not because you need it. The small size and great power of the eGo C Twist will always be a powerful weapon in your arsenal for backup and portability. You will never outgrow it. Plus it's kind of hard to stealth vape with a flashlight sized tube mod APV.

If you want to learn more about e-cigs click on the link in my signature and read what you want to know out of The Vaper's Handbook. I wrote it for you. Keep your hair on your head. Learn fast from 8 months of research compiled in an easy to read, easy to reference, no BS guide for free.

Be careful about Propylene Glycol (PG) allergy though. It is the main ingredient in most ejuices. Your best move to test this at first without paying through the teeth is to get a disposable (don't pay more than $8, also ApolloEcigs is giving them away for $2 shipping on their site). If you find you are allergic to PG then you're learning curve is going to be a lot higher. If that happens give me a PM and I'll help you find your way. BTW: don't judge the disposable too harshly, they're cheap and ineffective for the most part. It's just a sample. The real deal works and works well. Patches, Gum, Lozenges, Inhalers all have a failure rate of 98.4% after a year. Remember that. I would guess e-cigs have a 90% success rate (but that's just speculation on my part and no test that I know of exists to prove it).

The second option is the Silver Bullet. US made, stylish and you can go 3.7 OR 6Volt.
The kit is about $125.

Using the SB at 6 volts requires stacking batteries, which if you don't know what you are doing, can be dangerous. However, the SB can be kicked, which will make it VW, the difference being with VV's you still have to match your ohms to get the wattage you find as your sweet spot, where with the kick once you find your sweet spot on it, it doesn't matter then if you use a 2.4 or a 3.0 ohm delivery it will stay at the wattage you set.

Stacking is just not safe overall. If you do I would tap a hole in the bottom of the SB as most seem to do this.

Excellent recommendation, excellent kit, and 6 month warranty on it to boot. Thats 1/2 the Provari warranty for 1/2 the price, thats about right. :) thanks for the link!!!
