I spent a little time at FW's website and checked which of my flavors have "all flavors are diactyly free!" removed from their respective order page:

Absinthe
Banana
Blackberry
Blueberry
Butter Pecan
Butter Toffee
Butterscotch
Captain Crunch
Cheesecake
Cinnamon Churro
Cinnamon Roll
Dutch Apple Pie
Eggnog
English Toffee
Graham Cracker
Grape
Hazelnut
Mango
Maple Pecan
Orange Dream Bar
Pralines & Cream
Strawberry
Sugar Cookie
Sweet Cream
Teaberry
Vanilla Bean Ice Cream
Vanilla Butternut
Watermelon

Some make sense that the removal corresponds to concern but some don't

Strawberry has it removed but Strawberry Kiwi doesn't
I don't see how Absinthe, Grape, Strawberry, Mango, Blueberry, Blackberry, Teaberry, Banana and a few others could be related to butter, vanilla or custard

Some others such as Whipped Cream, that I'd expect to be related still state "D Free!" on their pages

Apparently checking the page for the claim isn't a reliable method to find what they're concerned about.

bummer

thing is: if they are putting out flavors with the explicit purpose of marketing them to vapers, then flavors with D should be REMOVED, not simply "unlabeled"... at the very least there should be a big warning: "This flavor is NOT safe for inhalation"

here is an idea for one of the app builder people, guys, however its done lol. someone should build an app that you punch in a flavor it tells you if it does or doesnt contain A,B,C or whatever . with everything everyone has contributed and continues to do so you could probably come up with a fairly up to date app and keep it that way. maybe even where you could keep a saved list of flavors and as updates come it alerts you of the change. would be cool anyways

Unless someone beats me to it, I already have something like that in the works :). It's not an app, but a website, which is mobile friendly and scales accordingly. It's been a project I've had in the works for a while just to provide information to the vaping community, though I've been so busy as of late, I've not had the time to get the ball rolling. It's definitely something that would keep everyone up to date should someone prefer to go the app route.

Awesome heck ya. That's kinda more like I'm thinking. Let us know when it's ready.

I'd been thinking about establishing a FB page, for updates etc, about dangerous products and the like. There is a big vape scene on FB, a lot of whom don't frequent ECF.

I'd like to clarify my thoughts on the matter. I don't think that most companies like Flavor West are actually manufacturing by mixing individually sourced, pure chemicals. That is a difficult and expensive endeavor, that would seem to be above such a company's 'pay grade'. I think that they manufacture blends of other pre-made blends of chemicals from flavor companies that are higher up the chain, such as these:

I admit that I could be wrong, but it's hard to say, as secrecy is highly prized in such an industry. If they are using such 'flavors' from bigger companies, then they may not know what, exactly, is in their own flavor blends, as that is proprietary information protected by the business that is supplying them.

It makes perfect sense to me that most smaller flavoring companies probably do not engineer their flavors absolutely from scratch, as that would essentially be reinventing the wheel. They probably source simple flavors from bigger companies who have already done the R&D, and put their own spin on them by blending different ones together. If so, then these 'raw materials' would actually be mixtures of dozens of chemicals, and protected as intellectual property.

The fact is, we can't find where everything is sourced, and I'm okay with that.

With that said, if a company is going to sell a product for a particular purpose, in this case inhalation, then they need to test said product for known toxins that affect for what it's being sold. A company claiming that they purchase their ingredients from a variety of safe companies matters little.

Once a company has their finished product (whether liquefying powder from China or macerated plums in wine from BFE), they need to take responsibility and test it. It doesn't matter what proprietary laws are in effect. A company cannot deem something as safe when there is no factual evidence to support a claim.

Edit: I'm not harping on you Lucent. Your post just happened to acknowledge the flavor sourcing.

We're drowning in it

Little tiny rural town; new "vape shop"; go in start talking; what about the diacetyl issue?; oh, that's not an issue because we use PG...and PG neutralizes diacetyl.

:nah:

Hahahahahaha Just Wowers!!! Pg is amazing. So many uses. It cures athletes foot and prostrate cancer, too.

I just wrote a popular flavor company that was being discussed on here about the fact it does no good to say just Diacetyl free. We need to know its free of these 3. If anyone has a relationship or established dialog with someone important at these flavor companies you need to let them know we don't want Any of these in Any amount. It sounds like its something not too complicated to work around, they just need to be aware and do it. I dont pay much attention to "we dont support our products for eliquids" thats just something they say obviously when we question their products. they know the market, and know its going to get bigger and thats its worth their time. Hopefully before too long we wont have to worry about this and get back to making great flavor combinations without worrying about what we are vaping. I sure as hell am not going to vape at my own risk considering the amount I vape.. I will only be buying flavors that I know for sure do not contain any of these.

if mixed properly with select flash-based internet video sites it has also been shown to effectively curtail both the development and protraction of blueballs

If ur serious about cutting acetoin 100%, there are a lot of things you won't be vaping.
