Hey forum folks. I got lucky enough to win beyond vape's monthly prize and chose the neptune V1 hybrid mech mod. It will be making its way to me soon but in the mean time I need to get all the various goodies to make use of it. I need some recommendations for battery, battery charger, and dual coil build for the 3post rda that is built into it as this is my first rda and mech mod.

Thanks in advance

Batteries:
Sony vtc4 and Orbtonics are 30A
Samsung 25r are 20A. All good batteries, but 30A are necessary if you want to build below 0.4ohm, accounting for a good safety margin and degrading of batteries through age.

Charger:
Efest or Nitecore are good ones.

Ohm meter: I recommend USA Ohmmeter

Kanthal: 24, 26 and 28 gauge

Wick: organic cotton, Japanese organic cotton or rayon

Other tools: drill bits to wrap coils on, ceramic tweezers, wire cutters, good scissors

Congrats on winning :)

Congrats Jax!

You might also want to look up the user Baditude and read through his blogs regarding Ohm's Law and battery safety. I don't have a mech mod, but I do build some toppers below an ohm, so I'm always keeping an eye open for Maximum CONTINUOUS Discharge (not max PULSE) ratings on batteries. Even then, I typically treat my batteries as rated half of that and build to no more than 50-70% of that half. (Others may not, but I like my face ;) )

Use the steam engine calculator.
Try 28 gauge kanthal;
my guess is the topper will be a dripper? either that or it's a genesis.

Current might be a more intuitive way of thinking about it.
gauge ----- current (Amps) for 200mW/mm2
34 ----- 1.2
32 ----- 1.7
30 ----- 2.4
28 ----- 3
26 ----- 5
24 ----- 7
22 ----- 10
20 ----- 13
Kanthal A1
gauge ----- watt per ohm (per coil) for 200mW/mm2
34 ----- 1.4
32 ----- 3
30 ----- 6
28 ----- 10
26 ----- 23
24 ----- 45
22 ----- 91
20 ----- 182

All good suggestions besides saying a 30A battery is necessary for a .4 build. On a freshy thats barely pushing 10amps. Samsung 25r and LG HE2s are safe with plenty of wiggle room down to .3, not including the pulse(LGs over a minute, no clue on Samys). Of course more wiggle room never hurts.

Mechs can be dangerous, but aslong as you get a meter and a vape calc app you will be fine. 1 thing I havent seen mentioned is how nobody said NO MATTER WHAT DO NOT PUT ANY SUBTANK ON A HYBRID MECH. I dont know this mod and I know Hybrid means a couple different things with mechs, but to stay on the safe side when you see Hybrid, stay away from tanks. That is the main cause of recent accidents.

Read a little and youll be fine. Mechs arent pipe bombs like people make you think and regulated mods arent 100% safe like people like you to think.

That screwed up the original quote ends after the 1st paragraph
