It's been my sad experience to find that some of the Supplier's Websites are simply un-readable. To those who use the color Black for your site's background, that may be thought to be the coolest new thing, but it renders your site unreadable, and I would think that's not too good for business.

The latest ecig site I was referred to was just today, and it uses a dark blue font on a black background, rendering it just too much trouble to try to read. I don't bookmark these site or return to them for my ecig supplies, and that's not good for either of us.

somewhere out there......
yes white or grey background is much easier for the eyes. black backgrounds can confuse the reader especially those who wear glasses or may be partial or totally color blind. Either grey background with white lettering or white background with black/grey lettering.

Black back ground with white lettering will still be hazy to read as well.

On pages that are difficult to read due to lack of contrast between foreground and background colors I'll press "Ctrl + A", or whatever key is used to "select all" on a Mac, to highlight the entire page. This will change the foreground and background colors to something you can read.

Can't help those who are having trouble with the fly-out menus, though.

Black Background + Dark Blue text is just wrong... why would anyone do that? On the other hand, Black Background with White Text should be fine. I have horrid vision and I can read the stuff on LitecigUSA just fine. Then again, I use the PC mostly in dark areas. My workplace is VERY low light, and at home at night I usually keep the lights off. Easier on my eyes...

As for the laptop and pop out menu issue, the only things I can suggest are:
1) Use a mouse
or
2) Get a tablet style laptop or an iPad (sorry I love Apple, but I refuse to agree that iPads are laptops...)

I have been using computers longer than most, and I completely disagree.
A bright background is WAY more eye straining.

The contrast may be the issue, or content colors.

YELLOW BACKGROUNDS ARE THE WORST!
(...and people who crank the brightness up all the way on their monitor usually have these issues more than others.)

WTF if it's hard to read I press the back button and never visit that site again. e-cig site or any other web site for that matter

Damn I guess you must be 60+ or so to make that kind of a statement cause when I first started using computers "live on the air" there wasn't even a WWW just e-mail and news feeds.

Am I the only person that light text on a dark background effects negatively?
If I have to read more than a minute like that, I have ghost images of the text and little stars in my periphery for several minutes.
actually i had to switch even the forum skin here to black and blue so i could read it for longer than 5 min - a light background for me and it dominates everything but then again i'm used to low light 90% of the time and can't go outside w/o sunglasses w/o a major headache. and i've been like that most of my life.

i do agree it's kind of silly to put dark blue on black - it's like putting yellow on white - u need the contrast.
