So, I scanned through this thread and did a search... I'm wondering if there are any pics of the Reomizer 2.0 with the chrome plating removed? Just curious what it looks like.

I have two brass=chrome removed by Robert waiting for me at UPS store (1 regular, 1 reamed down for Mini 1.0 and possibly some Mini Woodvil catchcups) so more pics to come this week. I'm going to love them even more after they build a little oxidation from air exposure so they match my "aged" brass catch cups.

I'll have to ask Alice if she's blowtorched one yet, or just do it myself. If it's a disaster i'll just palm it off on the wife - she knows no better!

These arent stainless so the blueing may not happen what likely will happen is the plating will start to peel off

it wood look nice on a woodvil catch cup

will it stain though?

Chrome won't take well to torching.

As far as "staining" just normal oxidation from air will age them but some juices speed up the process and turn the brass green but how often does one have juice on outside of atty tube or cap? (Robert leaves the chrome on inside of cap.)

I requested the brass primarily for Woodvils but the reamed for Mini is going to be really sharp on my Coppervein Mini 2.0.

How much extra did it cost to have Rob remove the chrome?

Brass..... my older sister lived in Seoul and Hong Kong for decades and spent a large amount of time shopping all over the near, middle, and far East. Needless to say whole family had hoards of brass items. Brass needs regular polishing to stay bright and shiny unless it's stored in certain antioxidizing impregnated cloths and airtight. Just about any metal can actually stain, even high grade Stainless Steel. (Aquired knowledge from outside sources AND personal experience) Best practice for Brass in use is daily wiping with damp cloth, then quick, light buff with dry cloth, to remove airborne or other contaminants and remove microscopic oxidation that begins the moment brass is exposed to air. Me...... I prefer some oxidation.

BTW..... common knowledge to not use brass for food consumption items or storage. Read labels on new garden hoses to see warnings about potential lead content in brass. But most of us are exposed to certain "acceptable" levels of lead throughout our daily living. Hard to get away from it totally in our modern world except a few remote places on earth.

i see that a lot of copper alloys, of which brass is one maybe making a comeback due to its hostility to germs and such. I have heard talk of them being used again in hospitals for this reason.

Silver if i recall exhibits the best properties but i cannot afford a silver RM2!

For Y2K we built up a significant mini home surgie center and pharmacy for us and neighborhood. One of the things we got was a little generator for making water based silver solution for wound dressings. Never used it. It is one of the few things I can lay my hands on in one minute. Some day going to play with it.

Yeah, me too. It sounds like too much work to sand the chrome and copper off. No wonder it costs so much. :(
Yes it is a pain and time consuming to do a good job Anything nice is though . If you had a 510 adapter and a drill you could do it yourself fairly easy the only hard part is getting the contoured sections around the drip tip . I tried sandblasting them but they dont come out as good

Still sounds like too much work and I'm sure it wouldn't look as good as if you did it. I'll stick with the chrome.

Hey I ordered it yesterday. Why don't I have it yet? :D
