I agree a 1 ohm coil on a rba is not as hot as you would think . You picture ripping your lungs out but its not like that

I know. That's what I shoot for in my coil/wick builds. When I look at one of those "safe vaping charts" it looks like I'm in some dangerous territory but anything less than 1.5ohms I start over or loosen one of the posts and yank some excess coil though it to lower the ohms before vaping.

And I guess it's true that since I use cotton as my wick material it absorbs heat? (as long as the cotton makes contact with the coils...)

Agreed. This is especially true on the mechanical mods. I can't explain it. A 1.5 standard atty was perfectly fine on the Reo, but when I first started with RBA's I quickly realized that lower was better. I thought there was something wrong with my Grand cause I expected 1.5Ω to be good and it just wasn't enough. Then I started to read all these posts about genny users at 0.8~1.0Ω. Their only issue is making a wick that can keep up with that amount of heat. Luckily that isn't a problem for Reo users! Squonk often and keep that cotton wet.

Speaking of resistance...

I'm just getting into RBA's. I found a number of posts linking to a page that showed the equations for calculating resistance based on AWG and length of a coil. I made a couple of tables (one in decimal inches and the other in mm's). Do these values seem reasonable? It's easier for me to have a chart than having to dig up the equations while I have a desk full of parts and juice-soaked fingers.

I'm no math wiz, but something seems off about the first couple lines on the top chart.

According to this, 28, 30 and 32g KA-1 will ALL yield 1Ω at 2.2 inches, and they would all give you 1.1Ω at 2.4 inches. Those obviously can't be correct, but other than that it looks good.

Agreed. That had me scratching my head. I'll have to check the spreadsheet (it's at work) tomorrow.

Yeah, that's the chart I used to create the spreadsheet chart I made. But I need to recheck my numbers. They don't look right.

Finally got in my magnifier post today. And a back-up spring for my grands. Time to start building coils tomorrow!

Say hi to everyone in Tulsa for me. Used to live there (late 70's until about 2000).

Whilst the Reomizer was introduced when the selection of BF, RBA's was scarce with most being virtually unavailable or excessively expensive the Reomizer filled a needed niche. It allowed those who were familiar with RBA's an alternative to the unavailable, more expensive units and an entry level RBA for those who wanted to test the waters of RBA's.

As with most forms of technology, things change, and they change quickly. We have already seen a plethora of new BF, RTBA's with even more on the horizon. Availability of ERA'S and Hornets has greatly increased with only spot shortages due to short duration holidays.

A dripping ERA is already on the market with a BF, ERA surely close on it's heels. The A7 has proven itself to be a credible, well made alternative to the more expensive models and now with the low priced A7 Mini and the Surface those with a need for a RBA to fit an original Mini have a alternative to the higher priced Hornet.

The popularity and constant scarcity of the Chalice would certainly lead one to believe that we are on the cusp of seeing a lower priced clone being introduced.

Having built a business reputation based on an innovative, high quality and reliable mod coupled with unparalleled customer service there seems to be no legitimate reason to potentially tarnish that business model with less than acceptable products provided by a third-party vendor.

Working to achieve top tier status, and remaining there is a worthy goal of any company and one that few ever realize, there is no legitimate reason to allow outside influences jeopardize that hard work and earned customer loyalty.

Seems to me that after careful consideration a beneficial decision, concerning both the business model and in turn, customer satisfaction will do nothing but further enhance the Reo brand.

Then again, what to I know... I'm an idiot.

Sure the day after I send you a package with a shopping list:facepalm: It's all good cant wait to see what you come up with it should be good :D
