OK, fully discharged and attempted to charge but only an Amber light which indicates a battery fault. Looks exactly the same as the rechargeable but not able to be recharged. So the disposable is not a good bargain in my opinion. Better off buying the kit with a couple of cartridges and a USB Adapter.

I'm a little surprised at the lack of sympathy here for the horrific burns this person suffered. The media reported this irresponsibly, sure. But anyone can make a mistake. I absent minded put a battery in my pocket before now, and it shorted. A mistake I will never repeat. It got very hot very quickly. But this does not indicate stupidity. Naivity, absent mindedness, maybe.
I think people laying into someone who hurt himself so badly should be ashamed of themselves. They shame the whole community.
A little humanity never hurt anyone.
Of course you are right. The kid is suffering and deserves sympathy for that. In the mean time it should be the media's job to inform the public about avoidable hazards. Instead of giving useful advice they pander and manipulate and use the kid to scare people instead of inform them. The kid should have admitted he did something stupid. So vapers are always on the defense. It's harder to be generous when there are vultures at every turn. Never the less, all these accidents are all about young men being careless or taking risks, usually both.

Point is : Would he have gotten his 15 minutes of fame with the media, if the very same would have been a spare for a flash light ?

He did something stupid with a battery, not with a mod.

To that point, I do feel sorry that he got hurt. None of us are immune against stupidity.

But :

Letting himself get paraded by interest mongers who use his misfortune to discredit vaping is heaping idiocy on top of stupidity. Hope he gets something out of it, like he plays the patsy, they foot his medical bills. As shady that would be, but the shirt's always closer than the coat...

If not, he hurt himself and on top of that gets abused by ANTZ to further their own agenda.

Then I feel double sorry for him and doubly despise these ANTZ...

I have the same amount of sympathy for him as I would someone who drinks alcohol, gets behind the wheel of a car and then crashes it, injuring himself.

This happened in the UK. The NHS foots the bill for his treatment. This story wouldn't have been reported unless he (or someone close to him) went to the press about it.

What the :censored:?
Warned? He should be locked up to keep us safe from his stupidity .

Has society become so stupid and lazy that grown adults roll around on autopilot?

Any adult that doesn't know that any loose battery in your pocket is asking for trouble should be ashamed of themselves, and should stay off the street.

Astronomical level of stupidity.

It's Darwin thinning the heard of the dangerously dumb.
I haven't read the link (dont have time) posted but do have one question.
Folks here saying this individual was stupid- by any chance was this a new vaper who wouldn't have had a clue about any of these protective measures regarding battery safety?

Some guy put a loose battery in a pocket full of metal. Probably keys or spare change.
The vape had nothing to do with it.
The battery wasn't in a PV.

This can happen with any battery.
It doesn't take a science class to know this, just some common sense.

The guy had polyester pants on, which caught on fire.

Here's a tip:

If you short a loose lion battery in your pocket with spare change, and melt your polyester pants onto your nuts, the entire internet is going to troll you.

Too bad that's a bit on the long side for a sig line.

I'd rock it.

Funny too... mention McDonald's coffee, where someone else caused severe, permanent injuries to a lady... and apparently every idiot blames the lady.

But some genius burns his pants to his nuts and I'm supposed to be sympathetic and sensitive.

But check it out- it wasn't until I began vaping that putting batteries in a pocket was a big no no. Reading your post one would think this is something everyone should know. Sure we can argue common sense but how often do we read/hear about a Duracell catching fire in a pocket? We don't. All accidents of this type (in the almost 3 yrs I've been at this) are all related directly or indirectly to vaping in some form or fashion.

The only reason we hear about it now is the govt trying to ban vaping.
Just like the reason you hear about all the shootings on the news, just something else for the govt to take from responsible people.
Here's a fact...more cell phones batteries explode than flashlight batteries. Either it's a fact or flashlight explosions don't get reported.
18650 batteries are not just made for mods, they have other uses, flashlights being one.

Do you even Ninja Bro?

I may or may not have at one time. Now I'm too old, too cranky, too piddly a__ country boy,
and too at peace.

All well and good learning escapism, learning to dislocate your joints, yourself, until you
do it without realizing it. "Oh, look shoulder/hip out of joint, yay that'll be a hoot to pop
back in later."

Reminded of the scene in Rambo 4.

"Remember how you taught me to ignore pain, sir?"

"Yeah, how's that work?"

"It doesn't, now come on!"

We only burn so bright until the moon outshines us.

Nicad batteries exploded all the time.

Nimh batteries explode.

Alkaline batteries explode.

Lead acid batteries explode.

Cylindrical and other metal cased lithium batteries have the potential to explode.

Lipo pouch style batteries only vent.

It happens all the time.

Cell phones, laptops, tablets, etc have all been recalled for this.

The reason we see it all the time here is because we're under attack and people focus on it and you're a member of the community.

Can agree and back up about shootings, violent crimes. Table 3

Check it out, burglary is way, way down. Theft is usually a major factor in violent action, either in defending against, or making egress from the scene. But yet we're told we need to surrender our guns for our own safety.

We're told only soldiers need guns. We're told there is a bogey man around every street corner, rock, five and dime, blade of grass ... but it's all good, nanny government will keep you safe. You just have to fall in step, turn over your means to eat, protect yourself, enjoyment of plinking and kiss nanny government's ahem buttocks. Sorry, I'll go look crap up and see what i see.

Having seen, I see I'll keep any guns I have, thanks. Not that I fear crime. We live in the country. Coyotes, mountain lions, bears live in the country as well. At times people and critters just don't see eye to eye. Hate to do it but you just may have to. Guns also provide venison for feeding a family if need be, or at least a chance of getting venison. Sometimes all a person/family needs is a chance.

So yeah, the gov, the corporations (Big Tobacco, Big Pharma, Big Insurance) want us all scared poop less. It gives them control over us. "Vaping is scary ergo evil, you won't mind if we ban life saving technology if it's scary & evil." Never mind the fact vaping takes money away from all of them. They are all in the business of making money from money, dealers of death because to them money is all that matters. Nah, just forget that, "they know what's best for you".

So yeah, got a ninja's back like brown on wild rice.
