I did not want to hi jack the other thread but I do have a question that is simular to the last time this was asked. I am getting my wife a provari as soon as taxes hit. I have two KFL that I love. She likes the flavor from them, but hates how heavy they are. I have seen the Taifun GS and it looks to be smaller and have the same function. Is this lighter than the kayfun? Does it set up kinda the same? She loves dripping and i set up her coils and wicks all the time for her. I just want her to have something nice that she will like. Any women out there have an opinion on this? or even a husband/BF that has gotten one for their wife/GF? This will be a surprise gift for her if I get it. Thanks for your help.

You can get a nano kit for the Kayfun that shortens it quite a bit. Not sure if that would be small enough for her?

Thanks for that suggestion. I just went and googled that. I had not seen one of those before. Huh? May have to look into that a little bit more. Looks a little expensive though. Just meaning to add that to an already expensive device, but not saying it is out of the question. For that matter I might even like it. lol

Don't know if you have any experience with builds involving no-resistance wire, but you may want to look into the sophia by leo. It's an RBA that fits into a carto tank. Many people on here love them and it is up next on my "must have" list. My primary toppers at the moment are a Russian 91 and a 22 mm xl ibtanked - the Russian is a good deal heavier than the ibtanked.

Since you said you're concerned about weight, that's not going to help very much. Almost all the weight is in the base & top cap - those rings that make up the body don't weigh very much at all.

The Sofia might be a good choice, but a bit more complicated to build.

i have not done anything with cartos. not even sure if i want to get into something else. i need to slow down this buying thing i have going on. Cartos would just mean more stuff to buy. She has held the kayfun with out a battery and said it was really heavy and i agree it is. I was just thinking the smaller size of the gs would make it weigh less.

With the sophia you don't need cartos. The sophia is used instead of a carto in the tank. As with any other RBA, all you would need to buy are wicking material and wire. Here's a thread on it if you're interested.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Sophia byLeo. I also got the Dbase tank but I like the bigger tanks. You might want to look at the Slim Tank Pro byLeo that looks so sweet on the ProVari. It's a smaller, sleeker tank and I'm getting it the next time.

Did you start building your wire setups or are you still using those ones from Stormy? I've looked at a Sofia a number of times, but the build... it doesn't look difficult, but it does look like more of a PITA than it's worth.

Did you order yours from somewhere in the US? If so, where?

Nope. Ordered direct from byLeo. It took awhile but worth the wait! I think they just recently changed couriers so it should be a lot faster now. I ordered right around Christmas so mine took even longer, like almost 3 weeks.

I ordered 10 prebuilts so I haven't had to wrap my own coil yet. I did a silica to cotton swap out and it was very easy. Well, I had to do it twice because for some reason the first time, I decided to basically shove nearly a whole cotton ball in it and that didn't work out too well.

Didn't realize it needed such a small amount of cotton! Lesson learned.

Lol. Even with the KFL's I tell first timers, pull out how much cotton you think you need, then get rid of half of it... then a bit more... and you probably still have just a tad too much :D

... She loves dripping ...

Easy answer, THE Dripper PRO from By Leo. Looks great on a ProVari, great VTF w/amazingly clean flavor from a cotton micro coil that easily rivals my KFL+ with a cotton micro coil. You can just use factory coils/cups that are a simple change out, or they can be stripped of the silica wick, compressed into a micro coil and rewicked with cotton. But it's also way easier to build a NR-R-NR micro coil from scratch for a Dripper Pro or Sophia than those who don't have them might guess they are. It's especially easy with ready wires from Stormy's/etc naturally. But making your own NR-R-NR wires is also quite easy after you've made a few (twist, crimp or weld), and that only adds a minute or so to a scratch build.
