First I've seen of this thread as well. Here, I'll contribute. RIA 1911 VZ edition. Love this gun and can't beat it for the price.

I honestly didn't care for it. It was a buddy's gun, and the trigger was rough, but it was also brand new. I wouldn't buy one, but not for any reason that should dissuade you. I just don't care for the DA/SA of Sig pistols. I've shot plenty of them, and can shoot them fine, I just prefer to have the same trigger pull every time. So my tastes pretty much dictate that I shoot and train either with a traditional SAO pistol, carried in condition 1, or a striker fired polymer. (Of course there's room for exception in the case of the P7, which is one of the best ambidextrous, concealed carry pistols. Learning the manual of arms for that platform is well worth the time)
Had I started shooting with the DA/SA Sigs, I might feel different. Their SRT trigger is nice. Throwing one into my rotation wouldn't do me any good at this point as I'm so used to putting the gun off safe, and shooting. Worrying about decocking just wouldn't work for me.

I think the better Sig option is to get one of their pistols, and matching .22 slide assemblies for it. I usually carry a full size pistol, and the ability to shoot that same gun in .22 makes sense.

Thanks for the detailed feedback and advice.

I'll have to look at some other options to be sure that I'm making an informed choice. Tbh, the things about the P250 that appeal to me the most are the modular design, and the price. For around what a standard Glock model costs, you can get a P250 "2 Sum" pack from Sig, and have a pistol that you can use in either full sized or compact configuration.

I bought this pistol for $650 I believe. Probably ran about 500 rnds through it so far and it eat whatever it's fed.

Not bad, for a 1911.

I've been considering a Ruger 1911, but it's not near the top of the list. A sweet 9mm is probably my next pistol... leaning toward a Sig Sauer P2022 with the threaded barrel. I'd go for a truly full sized model, but my state's laws are currently f'ed up and the issue is in court, so I'm limited to mags that're 15 rnds or less. Apparently, as a law abiding, tax paying citizen, I can't be "trusted" with anything more. :glare:

I will absolutely own a ruger sr1911 at some point. Everybody that I know that owns one loves it and wouldn't trade it for the world. The fit and finish on them is very nice, not to mention the very reasonable pricing

Yep, I've heard very good things from the Ruger owners as well. Another big advantage to Ruger's products is that they're one of the few American pistol manufacturers who've invested in the extensive, massive machinery needed to cold-hammer forge their barrels, in the Steyr method; which is superior to button rifling.

Well, the wife was in a fantastic mood the other day and was ready to spend all kinds of money on whatever I wanted. My local shop had an sr1911 in stock and right before I decided to purchase it, my wife suggested I build an AR. Boy she hasn't a clue what she's got herself into. So I grabbed a stripped lower and plan to do a 7.5 pistol build.

An old Mitchell Arms 1911 that was given to me cuz the guy didnt want to mess with fixing it. I broke my amateur gunsmithing teeth repairing it and it shoots like a dream now.

No kidding, I just noticed it myself. There are some beauties in here for sure. My budget & buying a house recently has slowed the growth of the collection considerably but I've got a little of everything I need. Currently I'm looking at a Sig P229 in .40SW for my next purchase & to replace my current daily carry, the LCP. After that one I've been looking at AR's. I want a complete carbine to start with & will probably start building one from scratch after that, more than likely a full length.

Love my p229..

I was going to go with the P226 until the last time I stopped to check out the wares at the sporting goods shop. They didn't have much for Sigs but they did have a P229 in 9mm in stock. 3 seconds in my hand & I was in love. I've never been a dedicated fan of any brand before - in fact I only have 2 from the same manufacturer, my LCP & aught 6 - but I have a feeling that's going to change when I pull the financial trigger on the 229.

My S&W mod 5906 is currently my favorite, it's just too heavy for a daily carry - that's a ton of SS. 9mm is my favorite caliber to shoot because of that one, but .40SW is one of the few cals I've never fired. I like .45 but the extra capacity in .40 sounds nice for a carry gun. I've heard it's pretty snappy though. Can't imagine much more than a .380 coming out of my LCP - it's a nice CCW, but there's no weight to it & barely a grip even with the extension.
