Oswald, with something I read a few days back, you may just get your chance to get a Garand. There has been talk about lifting the ban that would allow the weapons we loaned to Korea back into the states. Granted they are going to be 50's era firearms but still classic styling and should fall under C&R status.

I knew about the ban but I didn't think Comrade Barry would allow "military grade weapons" 
back into the States. I was hoping they'd lift that. There are some nice Garands out there, but I just can't afford what they're asking for them. Having those come home would be awesome!
Edit: An M1 Carbine would be nice for the collection as well.

Hi everyone, we have amassed a small collection of guns (about 8 hunting rifles, 3 semis and planning to pick up maybe one more semi plus a revolver). We have them stored in a couple different places--small gun safe and locked rifle cases plus locks on each), and are now looking for something large to store everything in one place. Any recommendations on something big enough, fireproof, biometric and not ridiculously expensive?

Having replaced 3 safes, find something that fits your needs, then double it. Cheaper in the long run to grow into something then it is to add/replace it every few years. Also factor in your ammo and accy when looking.

Most reputable safe manufacturers make safes such that you can add in shelves and pockets later on after purchase. I use my pockets on the door to keep a few loaded firearms and the like accessible. The shelves are useful for smaller, less heavy items like pistols, PMs, legal document fire safes, etc... You can make a good safe better by bolting it to the floor. Short of that, put 3-4000 rds of 230gr 45ACP on the inside floor of the safe for some weight. Also, a pressure plate underneath the safe hooked up to a 100db siren is good "noise" security ie: lift the safe, it goes off.
As NWar pointed out the biggest concern is running out of room. After you get the right size with plenty of room to grow into, it's just a big box that you can secure. Anything more than that are bells & whistles. Some of them very useful, some of them less so. It really depends on the person using it & what they have to put into it. What I find necessary you might be able to live without & vice versa. Good to put some thought into it before purchasing, but I would recommend thinking about what you have, what you'd like to get, making sure you still have room to grow after that & mentally organize your stuff in one with the photos. Going to a store to look at a few different ones (even if they aren't exactly what you're considering) is helpful as well. You'll get a pretty good idea that way.
OH YEAH!!!! For Mother's Day last year hubby got a Ruger SR22 that I absolutely LOVE LOVe LOVE. I use it for concealed carry
The pockets help in keeping pistols out of the way, easy to get to and be able to do a quick inventory of what is there. Shelves come in handy for mags, holsters and a few ammo boxes, unless you have a tone of ammo they are fine. You will not be able to place heavy objects on them. (A normal size Folgers plastic coffee container will hold about 1000 rounds of 45acp loose pack - 1000 rounds come in at about 50lbs)
As others have said, what ever you pick your still going to need secure the safe. Bolting it down and connecting it to a home alarm are good first steps. You will also want to pick something with a fire rating good for 60min and 1" locking bolts in the door.
Keep in mind, these are the current models of what I had. They were ok to start but would not recommend this route unless you need to have a safe.

I've been reading reviews on it since the beginning of the month. Since I'm finally getting my conceal carry license, I am really interested in it for my first CC gun. That being said, there is so much buzz right now about this gun that when it releases (beginning of Feb) I'm sure they are going to disappear fast. And I'm sure the majority of those sold will end up in the hands of people just looking to turn a profit, so we'll see a bunch on gunbroker with much higher prices.
Check out FateofDestinee's YouTube vid on it. It's looks are a bit deceiving. Quite a few cool features for a good price. I haven't seen anything quite like it yet. As for the aesthetics... I really don't care what it looks like for a EDC, as long as the features & function is right. I certainly won't be standing there admiring it's looks if I ever had to use it.
It makes me think of an LC9 actually. Slightly different look, but overall...
