I smoked three cigarettes my first day vaping, one my second day. After that I did kind of a pros / cons analysis and couldn't think of a good reason to smoke another cigarette.

It's been a month today since my last smoke and I don't miss it. Some of the guys at work still smoke and I'm starting to find the smell (which, thankfully, I can now actually smell) pretty nauseating.

I know how this is I had to clean out my whole truck the smell of smoke stank so bad.......stank is that a word? :2cool:

Tell us what equipment you're using, nic strength, how much you smoke, brand, etc. Maybe we can come up with a few suggestions to help you out..?
I just have an ego that is picked up at a gas station. I put a kanger unitank on it and have recently been told those aren't great. My juice is 24mg nic and it's pg/veg but it doesn't say what percents? Not sure how to post pics on here to show exactly what I have
Also I have used it most of the day after learning that I've been using it wrong. I have been using it like an analog. Inhaling wise I mean. And since I've done it just mouth inhaling and I picked up a cigarette it isn't bad but it's not the same. As thoughts as to why that is? :)

I haven't had a puff since I walked into the B&M and got my first set up.
Set my son up for Christmas he transitioned over about a months time.

There are as many "right ways" as there are vaper's.
Just keep at it, try some different flavors, maybe a different style topper, eventually you will find what is right for you.

It took me almost 5 years to completely give up analogs. Do to my intense habit and inferior equipment I would backslide on a bad day. Sometimes it would take me weeks to get back on the wagon with my vaping. The equipment finally caught up with me and now I'm worse than any reformed smoker, I refuse to be around analog smoke, it just turns my stomach. I knew I had finally made the switch when I left for work with an uncharged battery. I made it through the last half to the day without dashing out for a pack. With choices in equipment we have today anyone with the will can easily make the switch rather easily if fitted with the right device, atty, and juice.

Basic ego's are just fine for starting out, although it is universally recommended that you have at least one other battery so that you can continue to vape while the other is charging. With regard to your tank, I have no experience with the Kanger Unitank, but I started out with Kanger MT3S which, at least, use the same heads (coils). They worked fine for me (in fact, I'm using an MT3S right now). You did not mention how long you've been using the device, but please be aware that the coils last for 1-3 weeks before needing to be replaced (cleaning/rinsing them each time you refill your tank can help prolong their life). When I started vaping (and still smoking) I found that the vaping wasn't as satisfying after a week or so and that I was smoking more. Changing the coils made the difference.

With regard to liquid, part of the satisfaction comes from the varying level of throat-hit you are seeking. Throat-hit is the sensation you get at the back of your throat when you inhale (kind of what go most of us to cough when we first started smoking). Each person is different in their preference in this regard. Generally, more PG and more nicotine increase the throat hit. If you want less, try choosing liquids that are more VG-based; conversely, if you want more, increase the PG ratio. Another important aspect is flavor. Many people try tobacco flavors in an attempt to recreate the smoking experience. This works for some, but many others say that using other flavors like fruit or sweets helped them to ween off of cigarettes faster because the taste contrast is increased.

The process. Inhaling is another personal preference that comes from how you used to smoke. In general, most people either did a straight-to-lung inhale (lung-hit) while others would suck smoke into their mouth and then inhale from there (mouth-hit). Vaping by straight lung hit tends to be a little more difficult because the draw on your PV is different than that of a cigarette. With vaping, you want to take longer pulls into your mouth (sometimes using several pulls) before inhaling. (To complicate matters, technically inhaling the vapor is not necessary, as the nicotine in vapor is absorbed through your mucus membranes more effectively than through your lungs...) Nose exhales help with the flavor, too.

When you vape is also different than smoking, due to the absorption rate. When I first started vaping, I would follow my normal smoking routine: go outside every hour or so for about five minutes and then come back inside for an hour, etc. This works with cigarettes because the nicotine will hit your system in about 8 seconds versus the approximately 30 seconds from vapor. Also, you will absorb less nicotine from a single inhalation of vapor than from a single inhalation of smoke. Thus, vaping for five minutes at a time will satisfy your body much less than smoking for five minutes. So maybe a change in your routine might work, as well. For me, I found that what worked best was to vape a lower nicotine level (12 mg, for me) more often (sometimes even chain-vaping) and then switching to a higher amount (18 mg) for short periods of time. I only offer this as an example--your mileage may vary. The point is to get your body used to accepting vapor in place of the smoke and sometimes that means breaking the habits and practices that went along with smoking.

I hope this helps!

I was down to about 1/2 pac when my first vape gear, a cig-a-like, arrived. That 1/2 pac of smokes lasted me almost 2 weeks before I smoked the very last one, could justify throwing money away, lol. Since then nary a smoke has touched my lips. Course I don't have the same gear, and now my vape is so spectacular that cigs could never satisfy me again, no how, no Vape. lol

I overlapped when I first started for about a month. After a month I slowed down on cigs alike, it was one with coffee one after lunch that was it. Then I found a couple good juices and got a VV VW mod and that was that. Every now and again with a cold brew I will smoke, me drinking is a VERY RARE occurrence though.

I still smoke, I had it down to about 5 a day but that has been pushed back up to around 10 a day. I have a ton of juice I ordered, all in 6mg and that is just not working. So, I ordered some 12mg and hopefully that helps. I think my biggest problem is that I still enjoy smoking, even though I want to quit so dam bad.

Yeah, that was me. I liked smoking. Still think fondly of it if I think about it at all. Even like the smell of tobacco smoke. Just don't seem to have any interest in going back.

Keep plugging along on finding vapes you enjoy. That's one of the big things that pulled me away from the smoking. Finding juices that were really great. I dual used until I hit on things I really liked then the cigs started tasting bland and... papery? Sometimes harsh and actually started giving me mild headaches. The smoking became... disappointing? It was funny, I liked the idea of smoking but every time, it was a big let down.

Then I started just up and forgetting to bother with it at all.

Did take a good six weeks about to stop completely. Did not happen overnight. But, then, now, it's a year since my last cig. And I'm still a little dazed. :)

I've tried and I don't know if it's my setup or what but I just can't seem to get the feeling everyone else does vaping. :( it's all wonderful here but I just don't get it. Not sure what I'm doing wrong

It's so variable and personal, it's always hard to say what will or won't work for someone. What worked for me may not work at all for you. You have to experiment and see what works.

Don't feel like it's you. I went through two whole kits my first few weeks. My third one started to work out. Not my first. I saw a surprising drop in smoking without even trying (I wasn't even trying to cut back, I was just curious what an "e-cig" was and tried one). So I kind of jumped in head first. :)

Made a deala with myself that long as I spent about the same amount as I had been on cigs, I'd plow through and see if this thing worked. It did. But not overnight...

Pretty much all of us supplemented analogs with vaping at first! The point in time in which you'll be brave enough to only vape varies greatly from person to person. Most either realize that we no longer need analogs or begin to despise the taste, smell, having to go outside in the cold etc and throw them away or just run out and quit buying them!!! No need to do both....why not chose to get your nicotine from the one that's better in every way and tastes any way you want it to!!! ;) :vapor:

When I vape most of the day and use analogs my analogs taste different. Not like horrible but not as good. After a few cigs I'm fine. Not sure why that is

It's the "after a few cigs..." part. The first one in the day doesn't taste the same (maybe bad, maybe not) because your body is confused. You've been sending it vapor for a while, and that tastes pretty good. After a cigarette or two, they don't taste weird anymore because your body has said, "Oh yeah!" Part of the trick to quitting is to keep the body confused about cigarettes until it starts to depend on the vapor more. The longer you vape and go without a cigarette, the worse they will taste for you--and the more you'll like vaping.
