Anyone here smoke a few cigarettes a day while vaping before switching over?

It's different for all. I still have a half bag of tobacco and about a carton and a half of tubes and haven't even thought twice about rolling one up.

I've seen it mentioned on ECF several times that giving your "leftovers" to the homeless is a good idea. Obviously they have little income but many have problems, physical and psychological, that smoking actually helps alleviate. Just a thought.

I still smoke, I had it down to about 5 a day but that has been pushed back up to around 10 a day. I have a ton of juice I ordered, all in 6mg and that is just not working. So, I ordered some 12mg and hopefully that helps. I think my biggest problem is that I still enjoy smoking, even though I want to quit so dam bad.

I've been vaping off and on as well as smoking for 4 years (together ~ 19 year smoker); Just got into dripping and feel really confident in being able to quit soon — Just tallying daily analogs and trying to reduce right now ~ not pressuring myself. I can go hours without an analog during late afternoon/evening prime smoking time with out noticing (used to smoke 10-20 during that time of day). Just have a big ol' stressful project to get finished this week, then I will pick a quit day and be done forever.

That's why I signed up here, for the support of reading posts from members like y'all! :)

It took me several months to completely switch. I was smoking 3 PPD, and as soon as I started vaping, I cut that in half without really tring. Before long, I was down to a pack a day, and then to 10 cigs a day. But I stayed at 10 cigs a day for two or three months. I was vaping 24mg juice, and that worked great most of the day, but right after a meal, I needed a cig, and vaping didn't work. Eventually, I got some 30mg juice, and I started using it after meals, and using my 24mg juice the rest of the time. The day I started doing that, I quit smoking. I still had half of an open pack, plus 5 or 6 fresh packs of cigs, but I didn't need them anymore. I ended up giving them all away.

Once I was off the cigs for a month or so, I didn't need the 30mg juice anymore, so I quit using it. And after a few months, I started cutting my nic level down a little at a time. I've been off the nic for roughly 9 months now. I may go back to low levels of nic. I'm not at all tempted to go back to cigs.

I keep reading posts where people say "I'm trying to quit, but it's not working. I'm using 6mg". 6 mg is a very, very low level. If you're a smoker having trouble quitting, then get more nic.

I started vaping at 24mg. I had to get some 30mg juice to quit.

After you are off the cigs, then you can cut down on the nic level if you want. While you are still addicted to cigs, trying to force yourself to make the switch using a too low level of nic makes no sense.

I smoked for 2 weeks when I first started vaping, until I ran out of my carton of cigarettes. After that I kept a pack of cigarettes around as a security blanket for the next 3 months until I was able to comfortably do without them as well. I smoked for 32 years at 1 1/2-2 p.a.d. and I did have cravings for the first 6 months. I would vape through them easily enough but there were times it was harder than at other times. It is different for everyone.

I have just started vaping, going on 8 days now. I smoked 1 to 1.5 packs a day for 15 years. First couple days I probably smoked around 6 cigs a day, then 1 to 2 a day for a few days. Now I have no urge for a cig. Last couple cigs I had was not my normal smoke, I never really cared for them before and I didn't even finish them. They were like trying suck a fart in the wind.
Going back to work in a few days and I'm kinda unsure how that will go with the stress that goes with it. But I believe I will be allright after a few days.

During the first few days back in November 2013, I finished off my last half pack, literally gagging on the last 3-4, but this lasted only 2 days. After 37 years of analogs & several times at trying to quit (twice for over a year), vaping became my thing & I haven't looked back.

Nothing that I tried had the power to cause me to quit other than vaping. Of course, I give a lot of credit to my friend Vic, whom with his wife, is my distributor. He gave me several sample tanks of different e-juices to try, after determining how much I smoked & the brand.

After that, I didn't even want the tobacco flavor e-juices, let alone smoking here & there, after 37 years, the total switch was made in 3 days.

I vape most, if not all, of the day, but if the mood strikes me for a cigarette and it lingers I'll have one. It's mostly external circumstance, like "Its raining outside and I'm just sitting here listening to some jazz, I think I'll have a cigarette." kinda deal. But the way I see it, I moved from 2 packs a day to 1 pack every month and a half or so so I don't see anything wrong with it.

I've tried and I don't know if it's my setup or what but I just can't seem to get the feeling everyone else does vaping. :( it's all wonderful here but I just don't get it. Not sure what I'm doing wrong

Tell us what equipment you're using, nic strength, how much you smoke, brand, etc. Maybe we can come up with a few suggestions to help you out..?

I technically quit smoking first. I bought one of those Blu things about 10 days after "quitting" and cheating. Even as I moved to ego batteries and clearomizers, I still cheated. Then I noticed I would go a whole shift at work without smoking a cigarette, and I work 10-14 hours a day. It was harder not to cheat at home than work, but eventually the cheating stopped as I got more in to vaping. The only time I used tobacco flavored juice was with the Blu cigs. My first juices for the clearos were grape flavor and Niquid Sinnamon(which is AWFUL).

I'd say it's okay to step down while vaping, as long as there's a trend of stepping down. I've noticed a few people at work who have gotten eCigarettes that haven't quit, and some of them have some decent set ups. A few of them have iTaste VV 3.0s with evods, which is way better than what I started with. I'm not sure they really want to quit, though. I think they're just chasing trends.

It honestly took me about a month to completely leave the cigs behind. I partially blame the use of tobacco flavours as I have never really taken a liking to those. Once I moved to fruit flavours I was able to quickly move away from the smokes permanently.

It probably goes without saying that I haven't looked back since!

I think it all depends on the person though. Some customers pick up an e-cig and never smoke again, others take anywhere up to a year to completely move over and some never do.

I smoked three cigarettes my first day vaping, one my second day. After that I did kind of a pros / cons analysis and couldn't think of a good reason to smoke another cigarette.

It's been a month today since my last smoke and I don't miss it. Some of the guys at work still smoke and I'm starting to find the smell (which, thankfully, I can now actually smell) pretty nauseating.
