I spent about $900 on pv stuff since last august, and was a ppd smoker- when I quit they were $10 a pack/$300 a month, so I broke even at about 3 months. Now, I usually buy about $90 worth of juice and carto's every 3-4 months. Funny thing is, I really don't know how I managed to keep paying $300/month for the cigs (that's like my car payment)

To be honest I'm not to concerned with the expenses, as long as I'm not piling them on credit cards are anything. Not only does it keep me from smoking, but it's also a great hobby that has helped distract me from drinking the past few weeks. So I say spend on . At least if I blow my money on a PV it will still be there in the morning.

I probably would have saved a bunch of money if I had just started with a Reo...instead I tried to make do with different EGO kits, and trying all sorts of different accessories.

My Grand gives me the perfect vape for me, and I don't buy any other mods. I live in NY- my smoking habit was over $200 a month- vaping with DIY juice costs me about $20 a month. I could buy a new REO every month and still be ahead- oh wait- I have!

The best thing about vaping?? I don't ache all the time anymore- so I can work more to afford more REO's!

Honestly, I haven't saved a single cent yet. Actually spent a little bit more in my first few months compared to what I spent while smoking. I was a pack a day smoker and spent 220 a month.

I really think that my savings are going be more apparent from here on out. Stocked up on everything now: 6 atties, 75 cartos, and close to 900 ml of juice. This should last me AT LEAST 8 months with the way I vape.

The only thing I've saved is my life! I didn't start vaping as a means to save money. I fully intend on spending my usual tobacco allowance (I alot myself since I have no one to tell me otherwise) each month. Considering the average cost of $5.25 per a pack of Marlboro's here, and the fact I smoked 2.5 packs a day...thats $393.75 without tax each month. I spend more than I did smoking on vaping without a doubt. Do I feel guilty for doing so? Hell no. I have plans for at least 30 reos in my collection. I've a third of the way there now. I believe vaping and collecting mods is MORE addictive than smoking ever was to me. Knowing in the back of my mind that its alot healthier than the 4,000+ toxic heated chemicals I inhalled everyday for over 25 years just makes it sweeter imho. :2cool:

Vaping has cost me way more so far but it's my own fault ...Walk in the store to buy Cigs take what ever is cheapest and just smoke them..
Get on the computer check suppliers for sales, check classies, look at all the different colors and different style Mods.Check for new favors in juices. Want to try this one and then that one. If I had just stuck with an ego or the like would have been way ahead. I enjoying the hobby end of vaping way to much.
But when its all said and done I'm alot healthier and everything around me smells better!

I am not a Reonaut, but smoked for 35 years. I had varied from 3 PAD 15 years ago, to 1.5 PAD for the last 5 years. I had been recently spending USD$ 200/month on smoking. eGo 510 to start (now last resort backup), Darwin (daily thing) and Boge Revolution 2.x (cheapie outdoor/working vape, and main backup). I am about 4 months in, and am still treading cautiously on small to moderate quantities of juice.

I have only blown up a few attys from n00bish errors, only toasted a few cartos. I found a 'happy tank'. I am in the black, and my monthly expendables are leveling off at about $30/month.

They are all basically batteries, heaters, and a method of delivering juice to said heater. Find one (or several!) that works for you. I feel/smell better, and didn't think I felt/smelt bad before.

Ive been vaping a little over a month, and Ive probably spent about 400 - 500 so far vaping, so I'm nowhere near saving anything yet. But I don't mind one bit, It's a really fun hobby and best of all I'm not smoking anymore. I think I'm too much of a gadget guy to save anything anytime soon. Gadgets + Smoking, yea im screwed, lol.

I have been vaping for about 6 months and have been saving a ton! I used to spend $200 a month on analogs as a PAD smoker but now I spend at most $40 a month. All I need is a few cartomizers and a bottle of juice and I am good. Would love a Reo someday but unless they are 50% off its not worth it to me. I would rather save money then spend a car payment on a PV lol. Not that the mods are not nice... it just makes no sense to me when a $50 PV works great

Excellent point, prometheus! You are ahead of the game if your $50 PV works for you. I bought like 5 of them, and found them to be lacking...I needed more oomph. I have since passed them on to others who do actually find them to be satisfying as well and have replaced smoking with vaping. That is the wonderful thing about the diversity in the pvs that are now available on the market...its not a one size fits all thing. :) Last night, we sat with our Niece and set her up with a REO on loan, but have a tube mod + tank on order for her, because that's what works for her. Our eldest daughter prefers the REO. I'm just happy they're not smoking anymore and are saving money to boot. :D

I started in mid Mar 2011, and I've kept a spreadsheet with ALL purchases vs what I would have spent in cigs.
I broke even about a week ago (after buy and selling quite a few units).

But here's the catch- I looked at it today, I was about $95 ahead (in the black) soooooo
I ordered a VMod. Still ahead by about $30. (maybe I should stop keeping track or I'll keep spending my 'saved' money (lol)

This last February was a year for me, completely off the analogs and only vaping. It took me a minute (longer really) to throw down the cigs altogether, used to have one or two a day.

I did notice that once I found what atty and juice worked for me, the cost went WAY down. When I was new at vaping, I spent alot of money on different accessories and must have tried every elquid out there and $30.00 here and there, adds up quick!

Tried/bought almost every ecig/mod out there too trying to find one that made vaping better, easier. I was completely satisfied with the eGo on battery life and power but the mess and stress of dripping, stuffing attys and filling cartos was working my last nerve! That is when I read about a new mod being made by a man named Rob and it was spendy time again. :)

In summary, when I first started out vaping I did spend alot but I had to find the right things that lessened the hold that the analogs had on me. When I found it, the cost of vaping dropped dramatically and in reading this forum (I lurked for awhile before I ever joined) I found this applies to most folks.
