Thanks for the heads up on this atty Tim! Since I've been waiting over a month for my Chalice to arrive I decided to pull the trigger on this one and at least get some practice building coils. First one I made came out to 2.7ohms and vapes like a champ IMHO. No problems fitting this puppy on my VVW either. Here's some pics, I should have taken them before vaping it all night but I didn't think of it.

Thanks! I'm a total newbie at this but I did consider putting some silica through it to soak up the juice that ends up in the bottom of the atty, I'll probably try that next since that's an obvious flaw with this setup I've got going now. I've been vaping copper creek's house blend non-stop for months (the flavor I get out of it has been severely lacking for a while now) all I can say is that it tastes a little more "pure" than the silica. TH seems like it may be a little less than the silica though.

I get about 2-3 good long vapes in a row before it starts getting dry.

Here's the tutorial I followed to prime the wick, didn't have any issues with shorts or anything

These just came back in stock over at empire, put in the order. Better to worry about screwing up a cheapy 20 dollar rebuildable learning and finding out if its right for me than import an era at 70 bucks. Hopefully it works out pretty good.

I don't imagine these ship with any extra material, right? I'll have to order up some kanthal and candle wick...

Hey does this fit on the Mini?
No, the catch cup is too small. You would need a 510-510 adapter with an open post.

I also just tried it on my regular Woodvil and it wouldn't fit either, kinda strange (and lucky) that it fits my VVW.
Probably be a good idea to get the adapter in the case of wood mods on the chance it won't fit.

Mine just came with a preinstalled wick and coil that looked pretty chintzy, I didn't even bother trying it.

I'll probably try to make do with it until I can source some supplies for building new coils. Are there B&M stores that sell the kanthal wire? It looks like wicking isn't too hard to pick up, at least.

Gotta go find a torch, too, I suppose. Something tells me I'm gonna screw this up a couple times, lol.

This is a bit scary, as i just ordered the A7 for my Woodvil....

Is the A7 any larger than a Phoenix clone?
My friends Phoenix clone fits snug in my woodvil, If the A7 is larger, than i may be in a bit of a conundrum.
Can anyone measure the outside diameter of the A7?

Well thats annoying as I bought one as the vendor said it would fit..damn it. Ok I can use an adapter but it won't look good, I like things to match and that will be grrrrr

My A7 looks to be about a 14mm diameter at the base, measured with a tape measure though. There's very little clearance between it and my VVW, in places it would be hard to stick a piece of paper in. My guess is it depends on how well the socket is centered within fractions of a millimeter as to whether or not it will fit.

Actually just confirmed this by sticking the top half of the A7 in my Woodvil catch cup and it fits, just barely - like my VVW.

I got the A7 today (nice shipping, empire!) and initial reaction is the following.

The build quality is nice. Doesn't seem horribly airy.
The stock coil and wick is a horrible piece of garbage, unvapeable and should be discarded on sight

I'll be able to react a little better as soon as I get some kanthal and cotton wick to make a proper coil. The actual hardware appears to be built relatively solidly, though. I'd call it worth the 20 bucks on initial impressions. Just be more prepared than me and don't even pretend the stock setup will work at all.

It does fit my regular metal Grand perfectly, though. That's good news.
