So is the Apollo SS Vtube really a machined stainless steel bar, or is it a plated finish?

It's solid stainless, not plated.
The chrome, OTOH, is copper with a chrome plating.
We got to the bottom of all that during the pre-order phase, before the release of the stainless Vtube.

I have the mini Apollo vtube and i love it. The battery life is not so great but aw batteries last longer then the generic batteries. Next i will get a vmax so i can use dual coils.

did you get the vmax? I ended up buying a single coil tank atomizer per sailorman's advice. Waiting for it to arrive...

I'm looking at Zenesis mods for my next APV. I'm not very familiar with the vmax - would you mind giving me a little info and your opinion of it? :)

So frustrating. I got a mini stainless as a backup to the full size. It wasn't working so they sent a replacement and that doesn't work either. I'm just going to send both back for a refund.

Oh no! That sucks...sorry you had a bad experience. Luckily they have a great return policy. I ended up returning my regular size chrome Vtube cuz it was just too big for me. Besides, the chrome was a fingerprint magnet and I'm so A.T. I was wiping it off more than vaping with it ;)

Have you considered other VV mods? I've been looking at the VV Reo Grande at reosmods and the Saber Touch VV at Vapormoon. I haven't decided which one just yet, both seem to garner great reviews...but in any event, I have to wait a bit before I buy another unit or my DH will kick my u-know-what ;)

I just ordered the full size SS Apollo Vtube and am waiting for delivery. I chatted with one of their employees and told her that I wanted to purchase one of their 6ml tanks as well. She told me to get the dual-coil cartos with it because they have a better TH and in general get hotter. From reading this thread that doesn't sound like it's the case. Was I steered in the wrong direction, or have they updated their hardware?

They have unusual dual coils at Apollo. I haven't seen them anywhere else. They're a lot higher resistance than the other dual coils like the ones that usually come standard in a DCT tank. Their 6ml tank is a Smoketech DCT, but the included cartomizers are like 3-4ohms or something. Very peculiar.

You didn't exactly get steered wrong, the TH is better compared to the 1.5ohm DC cartos and they haven't updated their hardware. Personally, I still wouldn't have bit on the tank or the dual coils. For one thing, you're likely to have trouble finding replacement cartos in that high of a resistance. For another, the DCT just isn't that great of a tank. When you need to replace your carto, I'd suggest either finding a 2.5-3ohm single coil punched carto, or getting standard ones and punching them yourself.

Better yet, just call it a lesson and get a Vivi Nova tank.

Is the SS VTube the original guts with a SS tube, or have the electronics been updated? Too many versions out there at the moment it seems, very confusing.
The SS Vtube is made by the original manufacturer, LRider. As of yet, LRider has only one version and has not "updated" anything.

The other "versions", are not really versions at all. They are made by entirely separate companies. The best way to distinguish them is by their use of differing amp limits and/or metal/tapered endcaps. When LRider releases its upgrade, it will be the real Version 2. If they're smart, they should rename it entirely since "Lavatube" was merely the name given it by the vendor with the original US distribution rights.

Does the Stainless Steel Vtube have different dimensions? It looks skinnier in the pictures.
It may be slightly slimmer, since the stainless tube need not be as thick as the aluminum one. But since it has to house the same electronics and battery, I doubt it's a very significant amount. Probably no more than a couple mm. in diameter.
