Are hobby vapers more successful at quitting?

Are you a closet vaper hobbiest? lol.

I never intended for this to be a hobby. If it can be currently classified as such now, it would still be a minor hobby in light of my day to day living.

I wanted to quit smoking. I found this site and learned me the how-to, and I did it. Day one of vaping I quit and never had one single sniggy puff since. I have procured hundreds of flavors and a mod or two in my day, but, after settling on a sturdy device and an all day juice, I didn't feel the need to continue to 'play', so to speak.

Though, this could be labeled as false at this time simply because, now, I am playing :D New tank, new juice, maybe even a new device ;) Oh my, I guess I am sorta like a passive-aggressive hobby vaper. lolz

Good thread. I'll let you know in a few more months. Only been off analogs 81 days, but boy did I jump into the mixing, moding etc. It's been a lot of fun and a learning experience.

Sounds like you are well on your way, that is if my theory is correct. From most of the responses I would say it sure helps to really get into it or at least have someone close by who is.

Good luck and happy vaping.

For me, it's kind of split. Half of it is a hobby, and the other half is the oral fixation and seeing the vapor. I don't even think it's about nicotine for me anymore. In a year, I started with 16mg and now I am down to 8mg. I quit smoking a year ago, because it was time. I was a PAD smoker for 18 years. I got tired of stopping and buying a pack every day or three packs every two days, for one, because I got tired of paying almost $5 a pack, and two, the act of stopping on my way home from work was just getting old.

I did start with the "gas station" look alikes, which worked just fine for me, until it was time to upgrade. I started looking into other choices for e-cigs and decided to go with the eGo-c. It worked great for me. Now I use the Kanger clearo with the eGo battery and this so far is working out. I may just decide to stick with this setup for now, or I may not. This is where the line between hobby and fixation kicks in. I do enjoy reading this forum and seeing other peoples setups, but, I just like simple. Fill the clearo with juice, keep it clean, and keep the batteries charged and vape. Plain and simple.

This is the longest I have ever gone without smoking and I assume it's because I have become somewhat fanatical about it. It's fun for me and I enjoy seeing what's out there. Even if you buy more gear from time to time, it's still a hell of a lot cheaper than the stinkies. I know people who think of it as a chore and more often then not they go back to cigarettes. Vaping is exciting for me a the moment and I enioy the variety of it, parts, flavours etc.

If what you have works, end of story.

If what you have doesn't work, either you give up or start doing research and experimenting.

Research and experimenting leads to hobby. It also leads to ECF, which leads to hobby.

For a long time, I was happy dripping on a 306 with DFW Caramel Macchiato. That's all I used for about 6 months. But, even then, it was sort of a hobby. I wasn't into mods or gadgets exactly. I was into matching drip-tips to batteries and all the pretty colors.

Once I received a couple of bad batches of atties and started experimenting again and got back on ECF for research and advice, the hobby aspect was awakened in me.

Sorry about the rambling. I seem to be incapable of just getting to the point!

What it comes down to is that the hobbyist has a better chance of sticking with it for two reasons. One, it's fun and keeps you interested. Two, because it becomes a hobby out of the persistence required to make it work no matter what.
