Are rebuildable atomizer (tanks) overrated?

Basically, to sum up my post. If I could only have ONE setup for the rest of my life, it would easily be my Penelope. You can take everything else away but my lovely Penny! :D
Sorry for my ignorance, I am new to vaping. Some questions:

Does Penelope work with ProVari?

Where can I buy one (could you post a link)?

Is there only one model/version of Penelope?

Thanks.

Penelope's come up on the classifieds pretty regularly.
They cost $140 new i believe...
Usually you can get one between around 130 to 150... they are a quality built atomizer system and worth the money considering it is the original and not a clone.
Very easy to set up as far as rba goes.... still need to get used to building coils, but simpler than most rba's.
Lots of youtubes on setting up, and it is similar to the other GG builds; iatty, odyseus.
There are no clones that i know of..
Yes it works well with Provari... you have to build the coil higher than 1.0 Ohms and that is fine.

I don't know if GG is going to build any more but there are hundreds and hundreds floating around.
Also, you should know Pene is a silica wicked rba... not a genesis which is a ss mesh wick. I think they give a subtle different flavor, but just as good if not better.
You can buy pre-made wires for it... one of the difficulties of GG atomizers is they take 2 types of wire to make the coil.
you have to splice n/r wire with r wire for the coil build... or you can buy pre-made coil wires.
I have a lot of premade.. if you need some, let me know... i bought a new Pene on the classies and it came with 24 pre made coils.... LOL. I've been using one for a couple months now.

Is there a way to make coils with different resistance levels by using different wires or are you locked into one resistance?

How satisfied are you with Penelope? Is it noticeably better in vapor production and taste than, say, Kanger T3, ProTank or EVOD?

1. yes - coil making 101 - wire diameter (Kanthal A1... 32 g (thinner) 3/4 to 4/5 wrap = about 1.5 Ohm. 5/6 to 6/7 wrap = about 1.7 to 2.0... these are ballpark figures.
K A1 30g (thicker) = 3/4 or 4/5 wrap is about 1.0 to 1.4 Ohm

this is Kanthal, your R wire (resistance wire)... you still need n/r wire (no resistance ie. nickel wire) for the outer ends of the coil.

2. Pene is a premium RBA; it will be better in TASTE and as far as vapor, that is a product of juice vg/pg ratio and coil resistance to volt/watts.

I have been reading a lot of good things about it, but does it have any negatives, such as leaking, gurgling, getting e-liquid in the mouth, etc?

if you are new to rba's as i assume, you could do a lot worse than this Pene
1. its a premium rba... meaning it will give you years and years of service
2. its rather easier to use: vs genesis coil/ss mesh wick setups.... oxidizing, hot spots, leaks out the top, etc
3. no leaks, easy to clean and service... replaceable parts....

it can gurgle if you turn the adjustible juice delivery piece open too much... but there is a fix for that without having to break it down. I don't know how to do that yet... but its in one of the threads.

bear in mind since you are new, it will take a while to get it right... but as far as rba's go... see above. if you are going to take the leap, why mess with clones?

* if you want an easier, good, less expensive item, consider the iGo L .... its an RDA (dripper)... but can hold a lot of juice if you wrap the wick around the bottom surface, and the vape is OUTSTANDING too. you don't need 2 kinds of wire for the coil... just Kanthal.

i've consistently found silica wick RBA, RDA much easier to set up...
go ahead and explain setting up a Geni... that's one thing; working the oxidize/no oxidize, hot spots, shorts, discussion and application is another thing... imo
It sounds like more work than the genesis to me. No gurgling at all with the these genesis rba's. Ceramic wicks eliminate the hotspot issues too.

With using the ceramic wicks, there is no hot spots or shorts.. Its the cleanest vape and they can last forever. Simple dry burns for cleaning.

I love a lot of them but they are too large(wide) for me. I use a thin device that allows only small rba's. If you have a large battery device there are a lot for you to choose from. Stay with solid stainless steel. I recommend the SS because you can enlarge the wick hole if you need a larger wick. I use ceramic wicks and they are great, NO problems with hotspots and shorts. I really like the Cobra style ones.
Which Genesis-style rba would you recommend? Do you have a favorite? Thanks.

The age-old length/girth discussion...

I prefer devices that fit in my hand without sticking out below.

Just curious; Thin as in 510 or thin as in ego? Isn't the Mini DID a perfect match for ego batteries?

Edit: Uhm... taking a second look at your sig picture I think I got my answer.
