Are those who claim that vaping is safer than smoking liars?

the only thing that I have noticed about vaping that is bad for me is the increased appetite... for some reason smoking kept me from being hungry ( I rarely ate breakfast) now Im doing 3 meals a day as compared to my 1.5 a day... unfortunatley Ive put on 12 lbs in the last 5 months... but I dont cough/gag, dont weeze at night when sleeping, dont use an inhaler anymore, dont stink of ciggies, dont dig thru the change jar to find money for the next pack, there are alot of donts that have occured since I started vaping...

Thats due to being healthier. I experienced the same thing and asked my Dr about it. His reply? You arent poisoning yourself on a daily basis any more, shouldnt come as a surprise that your body is healthier and hungrier.

In other words, me and other vapers are guinea pigs and our cadavers, when we die, are hopefully going to provide data for future generations of vapers.
Can I have what you're vaping?

I always thought clinical trials were slow and boring. They're practically a middle man for what you just described. A legal buffer zone where they can get away with it all in the name of progress...Besides, it's not like you're being force to vape. Go back to analogs if you're not willing to take a risk and better yourself.

In reading through this thread, the one thing I have seen to be completely missing is ANY citation, link or quote of any credible study that has found anything unsafe with vaping.

If you design a new and exciting pizza pie crust out of simple known ingredients, are there studies required to prove it's safe, if there has been no indication of harm. Would not a study be required showing it unsafe?

Sometimes in life you have to be your own doctor. It's pretty easy to observe the health changes in anyone giving up smoking for vaping. It isn't an abstract improvement, it's empirical and virtually immediate. Long term effects could have something no one anticipated, but in the absence of that i have to go with my senses and my overall health. Easy decision for me.

Is vaping safer? According to current studies vaping is a lot safer compared to burning tobacco. Long term studies however may never be factual due to the fact that most vapers are ex smokers and inherently do or will have possible future complications from their past smoking and most likely can not be separated as far as the cause goes IMO.

There are points on all sides of the issue. I believe that what I have experienced in my journey over the past 14 plus months of vaping versus a 2 and 1/2 pack a day habit for the previous 27 years is that the harm reduction way "outweighs" the "comfort" initially of smoking. One of my relatives spoke to me about one of her siblings who smoked in the 40s and 50s, her comment was that back then, the cigarette was more tobacco and less other chemicals, so while smoking was bad for their health, not nearly as bad as recent "upgrades" to cigarettes. Facing the fact that inserting all the "new" chemicals into what was once thought to be "relaxation" created a whole new class of addicted "customers". All I know if that over the past several months, I no longer crave a "first light up" in the morning, nothing after I eat dinner, or wanting to light one when I am under stress. Health is better, doctor's appointments are more specific on improving health further versus preaching about the dangers of smoking. All aspects are better in regards to outlook on life. I can look at all the ecig studies, and realize that this is very personal, quitting smoking wasn't about statistics, quitting was about getting away from the most addictive part of my life. Sorry for the ramble, just my .02

I agree. It's going to be hard to determine what damage was caused by analogs and what was caused by vaping.

uh oh.. those poor ANTZ....

Now, when I die at a ripe old age, say after 35 years of smoking and then 35 years of vaping, if I just go to sleep and do not wake up again, as a very aged little old lady .. ..now what would they attribute my death to?
Smoking?
Vaping?
2nd hand smoke?
2nd hand vapor (which does not exist, but that never stopped them... )
- flip a coin?

uh oh.. I almost feel sorry for the poor ANTZ.. what a quandary...
