Let's start calling it a "Lifeboat tax" -- to separate it from a "sin tax."
I'm not altogether anti-tax. A small tax on soda, potato chips. It would bring in billions and have a MILD discouraging effect on sales. That's the point of sin taxes,. Tax at a low-enough rate that people will buy it if they want it and pay the tax, or will switch to something healthier if they do not want to pay the tax.
The problem with that wrt vaping is that we DID switch to something safer, and THAT is what they want to tax.
So a tax on vaping is more like a milk or juice tax.
