A black cat. He is capable of understanding somewhat more complex language than one would expect or what I have seen from others cats. I've learned to recreate many of the cat sounds rather closely and he gets a kick out of that too. Then he tries to combine the sounds as if to make new ones. Compound cat noises in the exact order we exchanged them. It is obvious he's trying to expand his vocabulary. :)

Despite my true affection for this cat (but especially most dogs) I would still reserve the word parent for those that have actual human children and not dilute the term.

Hughey, a lab mix or not? I dunno, he followed one of my kids home about 12 years ago.

2 cats... This one is Raja. He's 11 and friggin HUGE. My daughter adopted him then left him behind when she ran off to get married. The other cat I rarely see. She belongs to another daughter that hasn't run off yet. But I have pugs attached to me at all times and she HATES the pugs. LOL

I have a rather large (17 lb.) and VERY opinionated cat (who I love more than life itself <3 ). She's a black American Shorthair, and has been with me for the past 8 years (since she was a teeny tiny baby, lol).

I also have a parakeet - he's alright, I've had him for about 6 years - I guess he's "family" now, lol.
And we recently adopted a very old (total grandpa) cockatiel from a friend of a coworker's whose father passed away (was originally his bird). To be honest, the cockatiel just gets on my last nerve - I don't know if I will ever learn to "love" him :( But I will continue to care for him anyway *sigh*...

We have Sasha. Someone left momma cat and all her kittens next to the dumpster at the school my wife teaches second grade at. She was the runt and the last one picked. Screamed to high hell when my wife picked her up. Well as you can see 4 years later she has settled in lol.
