I have 2 cats we rescued from outside our apartment. We aren't allowed to have them, and I'm not usually one to break the rules (especially with a $1,200 security deposit at stake), but we couldn't resist. My girlfriend (who lives with me) is also allergic to cats, but it was her idea to bring them in. Luckily she's doing fine, and so are the cats.
6 Dogs + 1 puppy (see Joey in the contest thread)
15 assorted cats (some rescues, some "temp housing" after we caught em to be fixed) Thanks Bob Barker for the wonderful end of the show tagline of "spay or neuter your pets"!!
1 Raccoon (likely to be released late summer if she stays as wild as she seems now).
Outside there are roughly 30+ fully rehabilitated squirrels, assorted coons, opossums, rabbits, and flying squirrels.
Not to mention 20+ NON rehabilitated deer.
They all keep us in the poor house financially, but we are rich beyond our wildest dreams with all the love in the house!
We have 4 min pins, 1 pomeranian, 4 cats. All are rescues except the Pom and 2 min pins.
Here is Rosie, she was born to a too young mother and her back legs are extremely deformed. She scoots to get around. This is her when young, she is now about 8 years old and still getting around.
This is Slayer, he was starving when he took up residence
Miss Kitty was being starved by neighbors so she came to my garden and started eating dirt (rich in fertilizer). Been here ever since.
Bella
My Ali
Amoree
Sage, you can see the scars on her head from her neglect/abuse when we rescued her
I have two yorkies; female is Fergie, male is Pippin. Also one Pomeranean mix, Abbi (rescue). They think they are human and refuse to eat dog food. I have to cook for them every other day: 1lb meat, 4 eggs, brown rice, a few veggies. I do not feed them human food -- too salty. They also enjoy pure chicken jerky and Greenies.
I lost an orphan red breasted Wood Pecker yesterday. I fed him for a month after my Father-in-Law cut down the tree the birds had their nest in. He was a great little bird and my kids loved him so much. Yesterday, I woke up and saw that He was on his side and gasping for air. I gave him CPR, but could not make him snap out of it. Died at 9:58am CST. My family was devastated.. truly sadden by his passing. 4 hours later we gave him a Hero's Burial by his favorite White Oak Tree, where He first tried his luck at Pecking..
Proud poppa of a 5 year old Kooikerhondje dubbed Redgolds Daunte's Inferno, or as we call him Daunte lol. He shares his domain with a goofy old tom cat Charlie.
I grew up in a zoo, we had 3 dogs that were ours (my parents bred and showed chows), 4 cats, dozen or so birds and parrots, lizards, fish, had a hedgehog for a while...all kinds of stuff.
I guess I'm actually a pet grandparent. All of my pets are second or third generation by now. Bunnies (English spots) Dogs (briard mixes) and Cats (Bangle mixes) None of the Parents are still around but it's great having their offspring.
Have a dog, gordon setter, lab, golden retriever mix, looks like a tall skinny yellow lab. Had to teach him english, they only spoke polish to him and the rest of his litter and all the previous litters, he's 3 now and like having a son. Have a shepard grand-dog, she's 6, rescued a golden/lab mix previous to these, grew up with a whole slew of animals and wouldn't ever be without one. Even he likes it better that I no longer smoke.
I've got a hundred pound black lab/rottweiler mix in the back yard. She's getting on at 9 years, sweet but very excitable. I don't have to lock my back door, nobody's climbing that fence. The cat inside is nine. She's actually a he, but she was recommissioned as a she since when my wife got the cat, her boyfriend at the time insisted the cat was female. So when they neutered her, they couldn't find the female parts, so they had to do it again, this time for the guy parts that were actually there. Anyway.. considering the cat got neutered twice, my wife decided back then that he'd just be a she from then on.
