Right now I have 1 cat + 6 kittens, 4 dogs: white german sheperd, boxer, mini shnauzer, and a lab/boxer/sheperd/?? mix, 2 parakeets, 4 guinea pigs, 5 hermit crabs, 1 redneck I made the mistake of feeding- now he won't leave!, and 5 children. I used to have rabbits and chickens, but that was before the electric fence and the dogs got them. :( and I live in the city. and YES, I DO take my medication. Otherwise I might live in a zoo. lol

Nighthawk, I usually encourage people to take a look at the adoptable animals in the Pet Forum @ Wellness: Wrecked & Bonkers. In your case, I think you should avoid the forum.
Realllly great you love animals so much though.

I have about 60 dogs that I treat as my own every day. I run a dog daycare, and cage free boarding facility. I currently have no dogs of my own, but plan on adopting in a week when I move to my new house. I recently had to put my 14 year old american bulldog down. Very sad. She was the best dog I'd ever lived with. The only pet I have right now is a red tail boa, but I have had any pet you could imagine. I even had a pet crow name jake, and a skunk named stinker when I was a kid. lol.

I guess I live in one of the few places where pets are not allowed. It really sucks though, seriously, how harmful is a cat to an apartment? It's saddened me to the point where I end up going to the local animal shelter every day, just to help out with walking the dogs. I needs meh furry fix!!!!
Ewwww, I hate to say this, but as an owner of a few rental properties, we do not allow cats.
If they start ...... on things, which they often do, the entire carpet needs to be replaced.

People that own property need to protect that property.
It really isn't more complicated than than.

At least we allow dogs, under the right circumstances.

Depends on the cat. My own cat has gone batty once, but never on the carpet. She made sure to let us know she was miffed with us and not the landlord :p

I may have just adopted a stray too, we'll see how my little queen reacts to another cat's presence when given a nice long transitional period to adapt.

I agree. As a person who has worked with animals his entire life, cat pee is so much harder to get out than any other animals piss. My best friend owns his own carpet cleaning company, and says he has no problem getting dog piss smell out, but he says cat piss is another story. I dont understand why more rental properties allow cats, and don't allow dogs. Does not make much sense.

My husband and I have 4 cats and they do NOT potty anywhere but the cat boxes. I am a Type-A personality so my house is meticulous and so are the cat boxes. We use the automatic types so that I do not have to scoop 50 times a day and people who come over never smell the cat waste. (I also empty the containers every evening.)

The major issue I had was cat fur but my purchase of a Dyson has cleared that up! :D

Can i ask what kind you use? I don't like the ones that you have to buy disposable receptacles of, but I got one that dumped into plastic bags (like the kind you get when shopping at safeway), and it broke down in about a month and 1/2 (just long enough for the warranty to expire).
