I only have a few animals now and no exotics, rather strange for me( I have an 8 year od rescue dog, Schnauzer /terrier. He kayaks with me from Yellowstone to Mx( of course he always wears his vest). My almost 2 year old GSD,, a handful but coming along nicely, the past 3 months she has really started to mature. The tyrant of the house a cat of course, another rescue). and just to keep things interesting I am dog siting for my son, a gsd/rotty cross she is quite but sneaky and persists in chewing allot of weird objects up eve tho she is not really a puppy(she is also a rescue). Yes rescues do find their way to my door on occasion .)

Here and back
:( I used to maintain a 75 gallon fresh water aquarium, and I've almost always had a cat, but only one at a time. My home has been empty for several years. I'm afraid to adopt a kitty because I have high hopes of relocating across country and fear the complications of that move with a cat.

NCC - My precious well loved cat, Buckwheat, was killed on November 4, 1988. It took me over 20 years to work up the courage to get another cat, well, that's not true, another cat got me. At any rate, I too was concerned with the lack of mobility after all those years pet free but I will tell you, Lucy, my "new" little black cat, has become the joy of my life everyday. I can't believe I went so long without that unconditional love.

Let a cat rescue you.

@AJMoore: I appreciate your thoughts. Who knows what the future holds.

When I made my first post in this thread, I didn't think about it at the time but I've got a YT video of my I just called Kitty Kat ... uhhhh, kinda like calling a dog, "hey dog", I reckon. His "legal" name was even more silly, "Col. Kat" ... oh, well, I'm a nerd.

I know, the aquarium isn't looking too great at this point either.
RIP Col. Kat.

I have a cat named Emma. She is solid black with golden eyes. Got her from the shelter 3 years ago when my health prevented me from continuing to work. She is my little shadow. Cannot imagine my life without her. She is truly the queen of our home. All our friends tell my partner and I that we are 'crazy cat ladies'-Wouldn't have it any other way though.

my boyfriend and i have 2 adopted cats. a brother and sister pair we named Felony and Miss Demeanor (BF's father is a police officer). :D once we move out of our condo and have more room, we hope to adopt a dog too.

i hang a bird feeder on our balcony, so i consider all the finches, cardinals, woodpeckers, etc... our "pets" too. the cats love watching all the birds and they get to hang out on the balcony all day now.

Ooooh! Do the lovebird eggs hatch? Awesome!

Yes, unfortunately, they usually do. That's how I ended up with a dozen lovebirds; I only started with 2 ! ( You can take the eggs away from the parents, but sometimes that entices them to just lay some more. Some people buy little wooden eggs to trick mom & dad, so that they won't keep laying ;)).
I have to admit that it is pretty cool & exciting when you get babies, though. Even though they're mighty unpretty at first.

it is hard to find ppl to take the babys too.. at one point i had 50 parakeets i called every pet store in the area and told them pay me 5$ for the gas to drive them there and they could have them.. and they said no they have to buy them from their supplier for 5$ a piece

This is true, and is another reason why I'm still their owner. It helps if they are hand-tamed, but this takes a lot of time & patience. So I kind of let them have their little lovebird kingdom, and try to keep the number of babies down to a dull roar. I'll probably pull the new eggs out of the cage tomorrow, and hope that the parents don't lay more.
