After using it a week, I feel the Ares on the smallest hole has the same draw as the Berserker on the middle hole.

That works great for me since that is where I kept the Berserker. If you like the smallest hole on the Berserker you will not like Ares.

I prefer the flavor of the Ares better as I feel it is slightly more defined but only noticeable if switching between them between vapes.

The fill is better on the Ares and haven’t had any problems.

I have to say that I Totally Disagree with Vic, on more points than I agree with him on. There should be no Bias inserted in Vape Hardware reviews, if there is then trust is the casualty. Vic either made his mind up that he didn't like the Ares right off the bat, or he got a bad copy of it (poor QC, like ShaneR's maybe) but Vic never mentioned any QC issues, it's a shame.

I totally agree with what Nailz, and soulseek posted on this. I'm trying to look at this Ares objectively as I find it very interesting, but reviews like Vic's don't help me out at all concerning whether or not I too will buy-in.

Most of us follow these threads because we're fans of MTL, not one specific reviewer or manufacturer. I've always appreciated Imeos work even though I've also disagreed with him a lot, for example. I also believe Phil is probably the only decent reviewer out there.

The Berserker has been my favourite RTA as of lately. However wthout having tried the Ares, I believe it can better in some key areas, crucial for novice users; wicking and filling. You really to get the wicking right on the Berserker and you really need to flip it upside down when filling to prevent leaks.

....My only question was that, knowing that Phil likes a 2mm air flow hole, how much tighter can the air flow be made for those of us that want tighter ??

Quoting this again for you 52 as I actually did stumble into a way to close it down further. It's counterintuitive...close off the largest hole, not the smallest. However, I don't like the flow quality at those settings...kinda like closing down a DTL dripper/tank in an effort to do MTL. But, it may work for ya.

I'm just around for the fun of it, and it's getting kinda fun on another forum thread, regarding this atty.

Innokin Ares Mtl Rta - designed by Phil Busardo and Vapingreek: FastTech Forums

I hear that I do DPL. Them folks over there on FT Forums really tell it like it is, and have always done so, they don't mince words much, do they. They are harsh in their review of what FT has to offer, If they like a product then you know it right away, and if they don't, they will "Light It Up", same with the way they review reviewers I guess. Every once in a while I will notice someone from over here giving a review over there, except when our folks do it, it comes out a bit more "Cultured and Refined":nun: so to speak, not as :evil:RAW:-x, but not as interesting either.:lol::lol::lol: Interesting, is an Interesting way of putting it. I just read page #15 over there, I think I will read from page #1 and go forward also. Thanks for that link DPL. Highly Entertaining.:thumbs::thumb:

I guess it's technically playing out on YouTube, and I'm subscribed to both, so I may have to saunter over (just to watch).

I love a good catfight. ;-)

Along with most others, I would put faith into a MTL tank with Phil's name on it. I remember him showing us how to rebuild Vivi Novas.... But, I can't really take a review seriously when it comes from the designer. Too much bias. That being said, I would take my dogs opinion of the Ares more seriously than I'd take Vics. He's a weird little drama queen who fancies himself as the authority on all things vape. Whatta whack job. ECF is where everyone should go for real world experience on gear. The only times I've been disappointed with gear is when I rush to the "buy it now" button because I know they'll be gone in a minute. Whenever I research a product through these threads, I get the good, the bad and the ugly from folks with nothing to lose by being honest.

In the case of Phil and Dimitri, I can only believe they'll be made aware of the issues people are having and they'll work to get them resolved. I genuinely feel like they actually care.

Agreed ShaneR, that's what I have been doing with my Siren V1, only closing off the smallest hole. About that, I might try closing off the biggest hole on my Siren and see what I get.

Have my doubts that will work for the Siren (but I can't quite recall the exact design and I'm too lazy to grab mine from the cupboard lol). I should have expanded on my comment a little...

Largest hole because of the design of the AFC ring. If you try to close off the smallest hole, you'll get air bleeding through from the other end of the ring. Not so with the largest....it seems.

Given that the diffuser comes off, someone should suggest to Innokin/Phil that they provide additional diffusers with less holes to tighten up the airflow for those that need it.

Agreed, and I'm not sure why they didn't provide more in the box. Maybe they thought it would confuse the new users they're targeting? At any rate, I hope we see more options in the future, as we have for the Kayfun 5, Skyline, Bachelor Nano, Merlin, GT3, Tilemahos, Hastur, etc. The "shower head" design is not the first I would choose.

Well, I don't want to discount anyone's personal experience with the Ares, but mine has been great for a week now.

Doesn't leak from anywhere.
Slide to fill is still working and no leaks.
Airflow is still tight. Smallest hole will make my eyeballs pop.
Never a dry hit, wicks perfectly with rayon.

My Ares came perfectly clean, no hint of any dirt, machining bits or oil anywhere. I could have put a coil in it, wicked and filled with juice and vaped it straight out of the box. Of course I never do, I always boil all my atties for at least a couple minutes.

I'm sure there are manufacturing issues as with any mass produced consumer item, certain things will make it past quality control. If you are having issues I suggest you take it up with place of purchase or Innokin directly. This is a pretty good tank that performs well on good examples.

Again, I don't wish to discount anyone else's experiences, but my experience has been very positive.

As far as Vic's review, sounds to me it's more of a hit piece than anything. Straight away he starts making accusations of "copying" and design elements being "lifted" from other tanks. I could line up a dozen different tanks or atties and make similar accusations for all of them.

Had the Ares for a few days, and thought I’d give my 2 cents.

First of all the Berserker is the benchmark I now judge all tanks against, so it will be mentioned throughout.

As most have said, the presentation, included items and quality are all top notch I think if someone didn’t even know what a RTA was they could buy an Ares, and with all the included materials and the 4 part video series be good to go. Truly a beginners dream. More beginner friendly than the Berserker.

Easy to build on, wick and fill. Had no issues. No leaks, seeps, weeps, or dry hits. I just used one of the included coils, since that is what I build anyway. Vape on the smallest air hole, to try and get the Berserker hit. And I kept trying, but it never came. If I had never used the Berserker, I would say the Ares is an excellent MTL tank. But, for my MTL style (and everyones different) it just does not satisfy like the Berserker. It has good flavor, smooth quiet draw and easy to work with. No complaints. I will keep using it, and enjoying it.

Bottom line for me is that the Ares is a great MTL tank that I plan to use daily. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone, and especially someone new to RTA’s. But.........I just ordered a second Berserker :)

So here's the dealio. I have always believed that ALL Chinese manufacturers live and work in one huge room in an enormous factory. They DO have room dividers between the various companies, but those room dividers are made of a sheer and transparent fabric.

Yep, it's all just one big room.

See, I also have the Berserker, and like it very much also.

Vape on the smallest air hole, to try and get the Berserker hit. And I kept trying, but it never came.

Could you go a bit deeper into that part of your post ??

If I had never used the Berserker, I would say the Ares is an excellent MTL tank. But, for my MTL style (and everyones different) it just does not satisfy like the Berserker. It has good flavor, smooth quiet draw and easy to work with. No complaints. I will keep using it, and enjoying it.

Your second sentence confuses me some. What is it that doesn't satisfy you about the Ares Vape, is it too thin ?? The last 3 sentences you are talking about the Berserker again I assume, not the Ares ?? Sorry, but I'm a bit thick tonight , it's been one of those days.
