1. Check if the tank/chimney assembley completely screwed down to the base deck
2. Use more cotton for your wick to make it thicker
1. The tank is assembled well, if it didn't I think I would have had also leaking.
2. I can't use anymore cotton in there, I already had a hard time wicking without bending the coil.

Maybe I should try a touching coil with a Scottish roll.

I don't have an Ares yet, but this gurgling confuses me. It looks like the air comes in thru the exterior holes, and straight up to the port below the coil. This seems unlike a Kayfun design, where the wicks can block juice channels and cause issues. So I'm trying to figure out how wicking would affect gurgling? I thought that was one of the reasons for the skydeck design. I must be missing something, but it looks like with this design, the only gurgling could come from the tank leaking down under the deck into the airflow, or dripping down the port from the wick...which the juice dams are supposed to prevent. And it seems the amount of wick would have no effect on this, or other skydeck designs.

Where exactly, in this tank, could there be juice that it isn't supposed to be? Anyone else have gurgling and find the cause?

Not sure if it's been covered (probably has), but what's everyone's opinion of Phil going off on the vape reviewer "Vic" (from Scotland) who gave the Ares a scathing review? Grumpy Phil came out and wasn't too happy in the comments on Vic's channel.

I think Vic has a personal axe to grind (I think that's obvious -- no way any reasonable person could say his review was "fair and balanced"). I think Phil was right to be ......, but he probably should have said nothing.

It's definitely not the first time Vic has been involved with drama. When I see drama like that happen I immediately unsubscribe. Unfortunately, the way Phil responded means I'll be unsubscribing there as well. Sorry Phil. He really should have known better than that. Can we just get reviewers to review and not give their personal feelings on things that have nothing to do with whether I buy the tank or not? It's like listening to an actor give his political views...no one cares. But I am loving the tank for sure. No leaking on any of mine. My daily driver.

I think they both lost. I don't watch a ton of reviews, but had seen a few of Vic's, and didn't have a negative opinion of him before. But boy, on the Ares, he started with the snarky imitation of Phil's greeting, and then couldn't hurry fast enough through it to say he didn't like it. Didn't even really pretend to be doing a real review. If you were playing a drinking game with the word "copy" you'd be smashed at 5 min. into the video (Copy??? In this industry?? How could anyone possibly do this???). He couldn't bring himself to say a single good thing about it, but spent a lot of time telling us how smart he was, and how stupid Phil/Innokin was for missing things that were so obvious to smarter beings, such as himself. I'll no longer take his reviews with a grain, but now a pound of salt.

Love Phil, and have tons of respect. Best, most thorough, knowledgeable and trustworthy I've ever seen. But truthfully, he should've kept his mouth shut, and let everyone else punish Vic. He came across as small and pissy, really. He probably realizes this now, in retrospect, with his post pinned up top there, giving Vic more cred and pub.

I agree. I wont be watching anymore of Vic's reviews. His snarky "I hate Yanks" attitude is a huge turn-off. (If you're from the UK, can you please stop bashing us Yanks already -- we get it, you're ...... about 1776).

BTW, Brewdawg, I am still salty that your dawgs put a whipping on my AU tigers in the SECCG.

I don't post ehre much but do read and wanted to chime in.

I think there is a lot of negativity in vaping period, and a lot of "foul play" in reviews. it happens when money gets involved. it's always bound to be that way. the old saying money is the root of all evil. I kinda caught the tail end of it all but from what i heard vic helped design the siren 2 so that could have played a factor. If true then essentially their vids are competing to sell products which directly make them money. I'm not a fan of reviewers reviewing their own product personally. I find it to be tacky. I'm currently designing an RTA and won't personally review it. a better way to go about it is to introduce it and explain the design choices and show how to build/use it. DJL with the aura was a perfect example. Heathen was an example of what not to do where he praised his own atomizer before anyone else had it and built up hype. No doubt in the effort of money. on top of that he "damaged controlled" by going to every non positive review and posting a copy/paste response on the review and then not responding to any reviewer who responded to him. It was classless.

Not only that but i feel there is an unwritten rule with reviewers to not trash other reviewers products (as if most aren't already shilling anyway) since most are buddy buddy with each other. i'm sure some reviewers also hate other one's. I know there was some drama with DJL and jai haze over the aura review that resulted in some nastyness. Jai has an RDA coming soon and i'm sure reviewers that dislike him or reviewers who products he trashed, will turn around and give it a poor review out of spite. in short, most people are pretty nasty especially when money is involved. unfortunate because an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. I think the whole review scene will reach a tipping point eventually. There is an inherent issue with reviews in general in every industry but vaping is probably the worst because of how the tree works where most of the big guys get paid directly from the manufacturers. where something like games it's a little more indirect but doens't stop reviewers from playing favorites. In short it's hard and rare to find fair reviews for anything and vaping is no different. it's the sole reason i started but i'm a small fish in a big pond with limited time making no money off of it. So i can only do so much personally.

I try and stay out of things and just focus on putting out good info but i'm not really happy with the ugliness lately and reviewers who i used to like prior to doing them, have really let me down as well. To the point where outside of friends of mine i really don't listen to reviews and that's pretty dam ironic. It doens't help either when the community attacks reviews who are trying to do good things out of spite or jealousy or whatever their issue is. couldn't really say. the more voices of reason we can get in vaping the better, but those are few and far between and in the end, it really points back to the community of who they support and don't support via social media and with their buying choices.

What did i miss where did Phil respond?

Reviewers are human, I expect some impulsive reactions but what I won't accept is someone trying to pass it along as constructive criticism.

not being an idiot and not being objective are pretty different. Like in this threads phil while normally a nice guy, wasn't so nice in this case. I'm also curious on a few of his assessments of some devices especially when I've used/tested them with completely different assessments. and knowing he has visited their factories and such and likely has received payment for his reviews makes it a little more iffy in my book. I never watched todd but decided to look at a few of his vids now, i don't see he's really reviewed anything that has been really bad so IDK if it's by choice or by what he's recieved but he did buy into the hype of the SMM and DR praising them and then even said the SOI SBX RDA had great flavor. So IDK where he'd possibly do a negative review or even a luke warm one of ever. if he has i'd love for you to let me know so i could check it out. As far as dean same goes there didn't watch before just checked it out. he also bought the hype for the DR and SMM and praised the bushido 2 which was a piece of junk. doens't look like he reviewed any junk mod whether it be by choice or supply i couldn't say but still where is the unbiased reviews? Now i don't say this to trash them or question their knowledge or anything, just as reasons on why I personally wouldn't pay attention to their reviews. Of course everyone is different.

I watch reviews to see close ups of build decks and build quality, then form my own opinion about if a product is right for me. IMHO no reviewers or reviews are perfect, but am glad they are there for us. Trying to wade through the thousands of vape products and ordering blindly, could be costly.
Have even disagreed with some of Anthony's reviews...but still watch them...:thumb:

Well, you had your turn! As Gus Malzahn himself said (accurately), you "really beat the dog c*ap out of" us the first time. :grr:Really scared me about meeting up the 2nd time, you had our number so bad. But I guess we did it when it counted most, at least this year (so far).

What's wrong with the SMM? My wife loves it... I don't use attys like that but I build it, vape it and make sure it's working right for her. It seems to vape great.... Does one need to bash things to be unbiased? You pretty much nailed why I think reviewers in general are pretty whacky. If they like something that you hate, they're paid off or they're buddies with someone.... Not that I don't agree with some things you said, like, creators reviewing their own stuff is pretty lame, but people liking things you don't like is just life. Reviewers would be easier to take seriously if they didn't care about other reviewers.
