I think your right Storm, something like building up some Condensation in the airway ya mean ?? My Siren V1 (both 22mm and 25mm's) are particularly susceptible to that, more so than any other of my atomizers do, and when it happens I have to take a piece of Kleenex and stick it into the air flow ring a couple of times and I lose the whistle immediately (I'm talking about a very faint whistle here).

Today I picked up my Ares for a vape and it started whistling through the airflow? Did not do this before it was rather quiet. I have not changed anything. Have two air holes open went and changed that down to one and it stopped? Haven't got a clue how this could have changed unless something loosened up? Obviously there is an air leak somewhere and I fear it may be the airflow control ring itself in which case I am screwed. I think that is press fit and not removable. Single hole open works but the draw is pretty tight for me. Any suggestions?

Personally mine do not whistle but when changing out wick i drain tank with the hypo or run it down then open all air holes pull out wick and run water through the top portion coil is kept in place. Water will run out airholes then blow through it and shake it . After everything is rinsed clean coil is briefly pulsed re-wicked and put back together.

Also now in use is the rubber ring that came with tank package it has advertisement on it (Innokin) which i turned inside out and goes outside on middle area of tank .
Mine fell over on its side on top of sink and cracked the glass (replaced) so the ring now cushions it from that happening.
Have 3 in rotation and this is what i always do with them.

Yes and also run a q-tip down the drip tip, as far as it will reach into the chamber, eliminating any possible buildup.

Thanks for the suggestions I will take it apart and clean it later today. I want to vape through the juice first. I am getting used to the single hole. I vape a lot of sweet juice and it can really clog things up over time. I really should go for one of those ultrasonic cleaners but just haven't been motivated to buy one again. They are expensive here and I did order one from China that did not make it through customs. They wanted to charge me more than the original price in tax so I let them keep it. There are some available locally but they are pricey.

Hey all, as I wrote a few pages back I wanted to try self made twisted wire with the 30Ga Kanthal I had left and I can honestly say that twisted wire absolutely ROCKS! I simply drilled two 30 cm long pieces together with my electric screwdriver. The result is a ~28 GA twisted wire, not springy at all, coils can easily be made, and it has double the surface compared to simple 28 GA wire, I might even buy 36GA next time and make a triple helix twisted wire. That should get me even more flavor, but it´s already stellar as it ist right now - the taste of the clapton but only a little more juice consumption.

I have installed simple 5-7 wrap contact coils 2.5 or 2.0 cm ID into all my atomizers now (Ares, the Skyline, the Merlin RTA and my two doggies) and all I can say is WOW! I will not go back to simple wire and there is no need to buy that thick claptons or expensive superfine MTA wire any more.

If you have thin wire around I urge you to give it a try - it´s just so easy to make and the result is awesome!

I need to check my box of spares and building supplies to see if I have any 30g wire in there.
And I remember seeing how to use the drill to get the twisting done, but don't recall where.
If you have a link to the process at your fingertips please post it. But, don't go looking for one if you don't, as I can do that too.

I accidentally killed my Ares this week. Unfortunately, it took a tumble off a table at work while sitting on top of my Aegis mod. Not a scratch on the tank, and the glass didn't even break. However, the positive center pin apparently sheared in the drop. I'm not impressed with the thinness of the material used for this part.

I really enjoyed most everything about the tank, but I'm not sure I'm ready to spend money again on a tank that is so delicate. Instead, I've decided to re-introduce myself to my Merlins that I previously enjoyed so much.

@Kusie I just watched this vid, and made a twisted strand with 28g kanthal. Holy crap was that easy!

I’ll toss it in my doggy tonight to see how it works!
Great, but if you twist two 28GA (0.3 mm) wires that will result in 22GA (0.6 mm ID) and that might probably be too thick for he doggie. Also, you might want to build a smaller ID (2 mm coil or less). For twisting a thinner wire is definitely recommended.

Yeah, I try really hard to not drop my Ares, although so far, it's usually been the coil that suffers, not the actual posts and etc. It is a great tank, but I most certainly wince if I drop it, unlike some of my other setups (well, I always wince when it happens) but most of them are a bit more robust....

I didn’t put it in the doggy, I tossed it in the berserker rda I got in the mail yesterday.

Was kinda a pain to keep tight and install at the same time, but I got it. 2.5mm id, 6 wrap, 1ohm. Flavor is good, and a nice vape at 16-17w.

I’ll order some 30g so I can try it in the doggy!

Sad to say that I think I damaged a center pin in a fall. Others have mention the symptoms. I didn't have a chance to really address it other than checking the placement of the coil and tightening screws. Ohms jumping all over.

If the Ares works, I like it. I am not crazy about delicately made components, though.

Hey Kusie, I think the rule of thumb with Twisted Kanthal is if you twist 2 pieces of like 30g then you get about the resistance of a single 27g wire, if twisting 2 pieces of 28g Kanthal then you get about the resistance of a single 25g wire, so just treat the twisted pair like a single gauge wire 3 sizes bigger as far as what resistance you will get. That's my understanding.

I have another short question.
After the trouble i had with the Topcap Innokin sended me a new Ares where the Topcap works perfect.
But now i noticed that even when the Airflow is closed completely i can still do an very restricted draw. Does anyone else have that too or did i get a defect one again? ^^

@Kusie I got my 30g kanthal yesterday and twisted up some wires using the video, just so simple. I’m gonna rebuild a doggy tonight with it, and looking forward to it.

I’ve had a 28g twisted in a doggy all week, 2mm ID, 6 wrap, contact, @1ohm. It’s been an awesome vape with ry4d and now SOHO.

It really is way better than simple round kanthal!
