I've been wanting to do this project for a while and kept putting if off because of the time involved with stopping the build to take pics and take notes then gather the pics and notes and then make sense of it all when writing the tutorial. But it's been calling my name so I gave up and just got er done.

Arlo is 100mm x 60mm x 23mm, so not too big for dual 18650 batts plus all the circuitry plus internal charging.

Here's the step-by-step how-to: Arlo how-to

All done and ready to close er up...

For those who want to jump right in and do it to it, here's the wiring I did with this case...

That's fantastic! Any idea what changes one would need to make to transform this into a true pass-through? No batteries ever, version.

Obviously replace the battery contacts with a barrel connector, use suitable fuse system.

Datasheet says 6A AVG, and 12A MAX. So assuming you have the input voltage sorted, what available current rating should you be looking for from an AC adapter / power supply?

I have access to some 12v ~ 18A brick power supplies that I would like to use, would built the internals for 12v so it would work off a fused 12v car plug.

IMO your looking at the wrong deevice to make a passthru with.

Mamu has mods and tutorial called the Naos Raptor/ OKR T10 either one of those would make a better pass thru with your power supply but if you really want, you could feed the DNA off your 18a 12v supply with the 20A 120 watt Naos Raptor feeding the DNA @ 4v.. But thats redundant IMO---... Some modules do not play well with power supplies and become glitchy..

Put a bat in it, keep it plugged in and charging while you vape :toast:
I am running a Ti08100 chip off a computer power supply, used everyday as main mod, it works flawlessly for a year now.. It blows a DNA away after 30 watts just no fancy screen yet, you can learn, design, and make a fancy readout screen or buy one-- It can go up to 70 watts. lol I never will hit 70 watts

Agreed. Found that post after replying here, and have commented there as well. Thanks for the heads up :)

...I thought you might have found an ebay seller named Isatondenalicase.

Very nice mod..

by the way, does the fire switch light up when press??

If yes, how is the wiring like?

The fire switch does not light up. The wiring instructions is in the how-to and the wiring pic is in the OP.

nice tutorial. where can I get the fuse from?

edit

50 Pcs Littelfuse PolySwitch SMD PTC Resettable Fuses 1812 3A 6V 1812L300MR | eBay

is this the right one?

i have read your tutorial, i wanna know if i can place 6A in series since i dont have any 3A fuse...

That's a great buy on the Littelfuse 3A smd fuses.

Yes, you can use a single 6A fuse on each batt. I'm not sure there will be enough room for a leaded fuse though.

nicest looking dna mod I have seen. Doesnt look extremely hard to build either. How much do you have into it?

Just for parts - around $80. That does not include solder, flux, wiring, heat shrink tubing, 3 types of epoxy, etc, and the tools like a soldering iron, a dremel, and needle files or 3-4 hours of labor from start to finish.

Saw the wrong switch. Realize that the fire button is below after that. lol

Downloaded your guide for reference. Currently waiting for the DNA to reach my shore.

Epoxy wise, which one would be the one for all kind? Nt sure if i can find those that you mention at my local b&m store though..

So unique. Like the Christmas Story leg lamp, it's indescribably beautiful. I've got an aluminum dbmodz dna30 mod being made as we speak, and I found a dna30 board for sale yesterday, so it's on it's way to me now. I've been trying to figure out what i was going to do with it - I wanted something with lots of battery life and I believe we now have a winner.

And now Mamu, indulge my gushing for a moment. In the short time I've been vaping, it has become pretty clear to me that you are an absolute Legend around these parts. Thank you for your generosity sharing with the community your expertise and ingenuity.

You're a treasure. Thank you!

Holy cow - the mitec web site is gone. :( I love that MSW-1202 switch. I emailed them and asked what's up.

The switch you linked to has too much depth so I don't believe it will fit - not sure there though.

Here's the MSW-1201 switch... it's the same as the MSW-1202 switch except it has a flat actuator... is expensive to buy from here though... 12mm Vandal Resistant Switch SPST, Off On | Rapid Online

The Lexan I think most people are buying is 0.093" (~2.5mm) thick. That's what I used originally.

I now use tinted acrylite and it is about 3mm thick. It fits perfect in the 2mm DNA frame/cradle.

You can buy a sample size of the acrylite for only $2.99 with free shipping and be able to cut several 7mm x 21mm pieces from it.
