Awesome, thank you all for the replies!
For this housing we need to select "black" - Strong & Flexible Plastic for the finish, as there is also a 'black' detail plastic.
Nice stuff on that site, it never poped up on any web searches. Wonder what those firing buttons on that site are.

The material is up to you - I picked black strong flexible. The buttons look like manual actuators for the on-board dna switches to me, but I could be very wrong. If I'm right, they won't be of any use to this build.

btw, I'm flying blind here too - never done this before, but it's going to be fun to try!

To parallel fuses, you simply solder one end of each fuse together then solder the other end of each fuse together to make a parallel set then treat it as one fuse. If you've paralleled 2 3A fuses together, you now have a 6A fuse and with half the resistance.

2x smd fuses soldered together in parallel and 2x leaded fuses soldered together in parallel... fuses have no polarity so it doesn't matter which ends you solder together... I apply a dab of flux using a round toothpick to the ends before soldering the ends together...

You can use a dremel (I use a flex shaft attached to the dremel so I don't have to hold the heavy dremel in my hand) or drill press to do the holes in the case. With the screen cutout, I dremel to about a mm of the edges, then use a needle file to straighten and square off the cutout.

thank you!!!

For anybody like me that will attempt to do this with a Vamo board, it will be a fun challenge to create a finished looking screen "cradle" as there is no product available like the DNA's. I have a machine shop in my garage so I will have to create this part.

Anyways, I have every single item for this product ordered, including the sample piece of the tinted plastic. Come on, CHINA!!!

will the dna 20 cradle work for this box? because i ordered it before i found this thread...

Mamu's DNA20D Screen Cradle by bapgood on Shapeways

Yes, that will work aok. But it has 1.5mm depth instead of 2mm so you may need to dremel the depth inside the case in the area where the end of the screen/cable will be. Be careful and don't overdo it though and go through to the front of the case when dremeling the depth - it needs just an unch off the depth in that area to get to 1.5mm.

I can see the guys at acrylite-shop.com now:

"A whole lot of people want a sample size of this stuff."

"Mamu must have published another dna mod build."

Bap now has the cradle in different depths at shapeways.....:)

Got some parts today, still looking for a 12mm low profile SS firing button :( as well as a pre-made 510 connector with either adjustable or floating pin. The silver sealed 510's from madvapes are out of stock.

Have to figure out the Versachem epoxy stuff , I saw mentions that the side by side tubes were not easy to work with but thats all i have run into on amazon anyone have links they can share for epoxy's they have used and liked working with?

Lastly no DNA30D board finds yet.

Can anyone recommend a better quality 510 connector??? Sounds like people are saying the madvapes ones are cheap... Also what's the difference between press fit and the other way?? Also, what's pros and cons of open vs sealed center post? << sorry more noob questions..

I can't really say, as I don't use them. I normally use ego adapters or old solid ego heads. As to open and sealed... open can let juice leak in easier than sealed.

Yes, I know - I recommended the 2mm cradle that bap did in my write-up which is perfect for the depth of this case, but he said he already bought the 1.5mm one and wanted to know if it was ok.

I've been using VersaChem epoxy (plastic welding - 47809, 5' set clear - 46409, 5' set gel - 46509) with no issues. Sometimes I blob a bit too much out of the tubes, but no biggie. I use a small paper plate to squeeze out the amount I need, then use a round toothpick to mix and apply. You can buy it at automotive shops like Auto Zone or home improvement shops like Lowes. For best price I buy at JB Tools.

The fatdaddyvapes connector is the best - is beefy and stainless steel with a brass nut to solder to, but needs to be shortened which can be a pita as you need to shorten 3 parts - the outer casing, the delrin insulator and the center post. The outer casing isn't so bad, but you have to shorten the delrin insulator and center post so they match what you did with the outer casing.

Do you have a photo of finished product? If you have time.. Can you explain a little more.. What outer casing are you referring to?

Like what bap did here? What do you use for the 510 connector?

I want to try to kinda avoid epoxy at the 510 connector and maybe the chip so taking it apart later if needed won't be such a pita.. Maybe a double sided adhesive? Is there a way to remove epoxy safely from this mod if needed?

Bap took it up a level, he used (purchased) a completely different pin (easy part) and then fabricated a brass collar (which is really nice). And not sure on the last part but he either cut down the original delrin piece or used a complete different on.

I am handy but even after reading that 5 times over I don't think I understood enough to make that brass collar and without it game over (is my understanding) I would pay for the collar or collar/pin combined gratefully. The faddy 3 pack will arrive on thursday for me.

On another approach, I saw and noticed mamu cut it down and then some how cut a channel in the original pin so you can be adjusted from outside the mod. Slick! My questions to that tweak is what (dremlin?) bit exactly was used (you don't want to remove more surface area than need be, a jewelers screwdriver thickness would be perfect) to cut that slot. Was the pin out and in a vise or in the 510 and used as leverage during surgery :)? Secondly, how much adjustment can be made since a wire is soldered to the pin in the mod (probably a trick to this).

From my point, I am doing this mod not because I can save money. Heck I am ordering almost 2 of everything. I am not doing it to make multi-units. I am doing it out of interest of the inner working (electrical/resistance/materials/etc) and beefing up my knowledge of the vaping worlds internals. To appreciate and be able to spot exceptional work and materials when buying future mods, whether mass produced or from talented modders. And as a bonus hope to enjoy this finished mod as much as any other mass produced one.

My case has not arrived yet so I have no measurement to go by, I found the following:
510 Anodized Aluminum Tank Holders (wonder if it could be drilled and the fatdaddy inserted into it)
$4.35 Stainless Steel Flat Top Cap for Chi You / King Mod - silver-plated brass contacts at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
$4.41 Replacement Top Cap for Sentinel M16 Mod - aluminum / w/ floating 510 center pin at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping (floated pin, really like this one, UPDATE: Aluminum bad idea...)
Only an experienced modder could let us know if any of these could work, maybe to wide for this case???

As for Mitec Store, I noticed yesterday the site came back up again and had their 2014 catalog, but you couldn't navigate anywhere. Old links to the switches did not work. Sent them emails to export@mitec.com.hk not a word back.

Today it is someone elses site "Well Develop International Limited" either there is some server/DNS issues or something shady going on at this moment. Wonder if they ever got back to mamu reaching out to them.

Apple Cinema 30" for $11 USD? fishy fishy

thx for the JB Tools link mamu!
