....I like what I see with this plunger connector! Where can we buy these??? :) {I am still waiting for my Vamo PCB :facepalm:}

here you go.

101402-000 IDI | Mouser

earlier in the thread, there's a link to another modder's forum where Bapgood describes how he fashioned a brass collar for it, but I never got exactly what he was doing there, and I don't think there's a need. the 9/64 bit is _almost_ the width you need to jam the plunger into the delrin - you might need to wiggle the bit and put pressure to get it wide enough to accept it, but once it's in there, it's solid.

If you decide you have to shorten the 510 (and in turn the delrin), you may not need the 5/32 bit to widen it enough for the plunger collar - if you measure carefully, the plunger collar might sit flush against the shortened delrin and be perfectly exposed out the top.

I really think if you position your soldered positive wire well - off to the side rather than straight out, there's room for the full length of the 510 inside the box - with maybe 2 mm clearance of the fire button.

I've been wanting to do this project for a while and kept putting if off because of the time involved with stopping the build to take pics and take notes then gather the pics and notes and then make sense of it all when writing the tutorial. But it's been calling my name so I gave up and just got er done.

Arlo is 100mm x 60mm x 23mm, so not too big for dual 18650 batts plus all the circuitry plus internal charging.

Here's the step-by-step how-to: Arlo how-to

All done and ready to close er up...

For those who want to jump right in and do it to it, here's the wiring I did with this case...

Hi So I decided to make my own mod :) I really like the Arlo and hope to make an exact copy of it
I will need a bit of help gathering some needed parts
I got a DNA 30
were do I get these 2 items?
2mm DNA frame/cradle. and Optional: 7mm x 21mm piece of Lexan or acrylic for the DNA frame.?

1 510 connector ? is there a better choice than this one? one that screws on instead of press fit?
Silver 510 Sealed Battery Connector

how does this box look?
LED Flashlight Power Bank 18650 Battery BOX FOR Nokia X HTP ONE M7 M8 LG Phone | eBay
I also have a question
#1 do I need a usb charger? can I just eliminate it and charge my batteries out of the mod?

I have good soldering skills and have done many other mods and am quite confident in my abilities to get the soldering done
any other tips tricks any help is appreciated
Thanks

That case looks like it is the same one, but this is the one mamu mentions in the How-To. She specifies this seller. FWIW, I have 3 of those coming, ordered March 25, would have been here April 8th if they hadn't been sent to the Bronx by accident.

I also got a couple of those switches, they are 3/4 inch in length, so they should work. I won't know until the cases arrive. Most 12mm switches I've seen are 1 inch length, which are too deep.

Those are the same fuses as in the How-To.

Steamer, look in the first 2 or 3 pages of this thread - the vendors with links to the products (shapeways and acrylite shop) are in there.

I would recommend you read the whole thread, as it covers some techniques and pitfalls you might encounter.

Good luck!

Thank You I ordered the Frame Cradle from shapeways I ordered this 510 connector Does it look good?
I thought the treaded connection would be stronger than glueing it

2mm DNA frame can be found on Shapeways, takes a week or so to make and ship.

I believe Drunk_J is using iPhone screen protectors and adhesive window tint. They are thinner and leave more room, but not as protective as the acrylic.

battery life is spectacular. I ran about 15-20mls of juice through my ~1ohm kayfuns at 15-18 watts on mine with 2 brand new VTC5s and it lasted from 6 am Thursday through noon Friday and was still firing like new.

It took almost 6 hours to recharge after that, so I'm thinking leave it on the charger every night.

@mamu - a couple of questions -

1. should I be regularly swapping my batts left and right or does it matter with this config?
2. how did you come up with the name Arlo? I love it. ;-)

....I am still waiting for my Vamo PCB..... So I started on fitting the 510 and the battery connections. I want this mod to be unique, so I made a stainless steel 510 collar that mates with my Russians seamlessly. The 510 connection is pressed in VERY tightly and I doubt this will ever need any epoxy. This way, it is serviceable if needed. -Very little room in there for the fasteners. This should be a strong and stable method to support the atomizer.
