I tried verticals, and wicking them is so difficult. Had to go horizontals, ni200..... whats the trick to wicking verticals?
Here is one I did on my Veritas. I left the top wick a little bushier since I drip it through the top. The vertical wick is SO simple. It's just a vertical wick just touching the deck. That's it. Nothing more nothing less. I feed the wick through the coil from the top, grab the bottom of the wick with a tweezer and pull a little through. Then grab it with my fingers and pull it through and back until I am satisfied with the amount of wick and tightness in the coil. Be carrful to notbdistort your coil but ifbit mounted well it shouldnt move. Then I snip off the bottom leaving enough to touch the deck and I flare it out a tiny bit. The mistake I often see is way to much wick off the bottom.

Here is a pic and a vid of it firing. The vapor just spews.

I installed the verticals, pulsed and adjusted. the removed and wicked and re-installed. I'm going back to horizontal when the time comes as I like simple and easy on the service end of it. I may actually do a toned down build on the next one. ( like dual 28 gauge or something)

Maybe I just haven't got it right yet, but I totally prefer horizontals to verticals on this thing.
I've got three aromamizers and I'm simple build type of guy... No fancy claptons or anything like that. Just tight 3mm dual coils. dual 5 wrap 24 gauge. I've built them every which way under the sun. High coils, low coils, vertical coils and horizontal coils and I can't tell a bit of difference between the vertical or the horizontal so I just stick with the horizontal because I can wick it in half the time

I can see quad verticals with one vertical wick running down through both coils just touching the deck and bushy haircut on top. Airholes on both sides positioned at 45 degree angles all the way around wide open. All 4 airholes at 45s to the coils. The verticals shoot the vapor out sideways and a little downward.............

I have 2 of mine set up that way.

And yes, I use tweezers to pull my wicks through the coils. Trim, fluff up the ends, then pull from above the coil to get the right length and use the tweezers to push the bottoms back into the deck. Then cut the tops close to the coils.

Yep, that's what I did and it worked very well. You get the right amount of fluffed wick just touching the deck, then trim the top to your preference. I did use 24 ga A1 too which helps. I am through one tank of 70VG and it wicked great. Waiting increasingly impatiently for a DNA200 mod so I can go a bit higher than 40 watts. The flavor should really improve. I will let ya know.

How's the vape and what build are your quads. ..coil id, wire type, etc. TY.

I built mine with 28g ni200 dual Coils, 2.4mm id, 9-10 wraps, came out to 0.05ohms. These are horizontal wicked with KGD. Set to 550f on my dna200. Using 2 hole band. The Vape is quite impressive.

4 holes is way too airy especially for a TC build. Maybe a straight low ohm kanthal build? 4 hole might be ok.

My issue right now is, with the 2 post velocity deck the air holes do not line up properly with the Coils, they are at an angle. If I unscrew the tank from the base about a quarter of a turn the air holes line up correctly. But I'm not sure unscrewing the tank from the base is a good idea.

Is there a way to "fix" the coil & air hole assignment? Or should I not worry about it?

I removed the o-ring where the bottom of the tank seals to the base and replaced it with a 20 x 1 mm o-ring. I can adjust either 2 or 4 holes and have it still tight on the o-ring. It will have a tiny gap but isn't very noticeable. I posted it a few days back.

Good to know the DNA200 fires Ni200 that low (.05). I love TC in my daily driver STMs and want to try Ni200 in this atty. I was worried about being able to build dual Ni200 coils with resistance high enough.

I like dw's solution with the o-ring. There are others who are carefully sanding down a little of the top section where it screws on to the base to get proper air hole alignment. From what they are saying it does not take much so be careful. It seems SC is listening and have corrected the alignment issue, those with higher SNs are lining up directly in front of the coils including mine.

The sanding only works for those that stop tightening "before" it get to the center of the coil, not past.

Love the vape, which is why the build is in 2 of them. I'm using the first (3 post) deck.

Quad 27g, 2.5mm, 9 wraps, 0.35ohms. I've taken this build to 100W, but usually vape it 50-60W.

Well, I finally pulled the trigger on the Aromamizer, and well, I LOVE-it!
I was having trouble with the Bellus. Had some success with getting it to not leak, but never fully cured it. Especially while and just after filling.

I was worried about the Aromamizer as well, but much to my delight, "No Leaking"! None, not even a little bit.

Due to my fear of it being another leaker, I built a vertical coil, and spread the tail wick well fluffed, all around the jeuce reservoir. Worked like a charm, with NO dry hits what so ever.

This was my first vertical coil, so I will try different wraps. This one was supposed to come out around .50 but I got one leg too short, so I unwrapped the longer one on the higher wrap coil to match. It came out to .38 with 7 wraps of A!-28 ga. in twisted wire.

I have never so much as vaped a sub-ohm device before. I have for years now used Pro-vari's. I did want to try more wattage, so I ordered a IPV-4S while I was at it. LOL!!!

WOW is all I can say. So far, I am only running it at 30 watts with the .38 build, with ITC Dirty Dutchman in it at 6mg. Tried some Custard Cream from Vape Wild in it, an OMG it's good!

Now with that said, what about all the talk about the dangers of Custard flavors? I do have COPD, but man is the flavor of the Custard Cream G-O-O-D!!!

I went with the 3 mil. version of the tank as I keep hearing the flavor is more intense. As I don't yet have the larger tank, I can only say that I have never tasted flavor from any e-device like this. I guess it is the combo of both the new RDTA, and the MPV-4S together. But I don't know enough about sub-ohming to say for sure.

Welcome to the sub-ohm addiction. There are many excellent counselors here for you, they have and continue to help me immensely. :)

Because you are getting much more vapor you may want to consider lowering your nic level. 3 mg sounds like a good place to start, if you were at 6 before you may even go lower eventually.

Let's see a close up of that mangled top cap hole though[emoji51]

The hole is round as far as my eyes can see, no issues with tips sitting flush. This shot was taken in the middle of the polishing process, still needs to be polished with proper tools. My suggestion for painters tape, came from the mistakes I made on my first try.:nah:

It definitely isn't even close to machine shop quality!:thumb:

Looks pretty good. Requires a smooth even hand to grind flat and smooth. Well done. I just hhot mine so not quite ready to put the Dreeeeemel on it. I have an antz tip on it. Not the prettiest thing but catching all the flavor I need for now. Thanks for posting [emoji6]

Not a problem, wanted to let folks know that it can be done if you take it slow, and remember to use tape.

Put this dual vertical single core clapton 26g/36g, 3mmID on my Aroma....DAYUM. All 4 airholes wide open at 45 degree angles to the coils. A total PITA build but much better than the horizontal ti coils. Vaping a different liquid so maybe that plays in too.
