I got this link from the News forum and wondered what the Christians here on this board think of it.

Kevin, did the Father bless you with a wife and children?
I understand that, and it is very important, but if and when He does bless you with a wife and children, that means He has entrusted them into your care, and your love and care for them in no way detracts from your love of the Father. In fact, your love and care for them will be *proof* of your love for the Father.
Paul likened the relationship to that of Christ and His church. Christ certainly does not hate His church, His body.
And if we break off all relationships thinking they "get in the way" of our relationship with God, how can we do what Jesus has instructed us to do?
I would hope that your pastor was not saying if a man feels his wife is hindering his relationship with God that he should divorce her--that is what I was getting at.
If you have a pastor that says that, you need a new pastor8-o
If God gives you a gift--and a spouse is one of the most precious gifts He gives us in this life--He expects us to love and care for that spouse as much as we love and care for ourselves, because we are one flesh in His sight.
And "hate" does not mean what we mean when we say "hate." God said "I loved Jacob and hated Esau," but he sure blessed the heck out of Esau. Not what we would call "hate" at all.
If He meant "hate" the way we mean it, He was telling His children to be misanthropic loners which doesn't square with His other commands![]()
Can I ask you an honest question? If you are married, compare how much time you spend with your wife against the time you spend with God and you will find out who you really love more.
