the end cap where the LED is...the tiny pin holes may need to be cleaned out... also some liquid may have gotten in the battery ... which it may need to dry out a bit...

otherwise you may need an exchange

Hey, Imagine! Any idea what might cause a 65mm sealed auto-batt that has been performing fine, suddenly start a really tight draw? We thought it might be the carto that was on it, but switched cartos and the carto performed perfectly on another batt and a new carto on the suspect batt was producing a very tight draw, so it's for sure the batt. I've cleaned the threads and the connections religiously, along with the charger threads, so I really don't think it's dirty. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The batt is well within warranty.

If the battery was dropped too the sensor might be outside of the rubber holder. You just have to place it back if that happened. That causes the sensor to be insensitive to slow/low drags.

OK, I don't mean to sound dense, and I don't think any of his batteries have ever been dropped, but what sensor? What rubber holder? How do you "place it back?" I am sooooo not technically savvy, so sometimes you have to spell that kind of stuff out for this old brain. Do you somehow take the battery apart?

And Imagine - is there a way to "clean out" all the teensy holes? I know that SteelJan whittles down a toothpick and jams it into the bitty holes, but is there a better, easier way that doesn't require carving skills? I can barely see the danged things and knowing my luck, I'd probably cut off a finger trying to whittle a toothpick. LOL

If you take a closer look on the ash cap. The led side of the volt you will see two small dents (holes) on two sides. You have to make sure those are clean. You can pry the ash cap of the main body just to see if everything is clean. And DON'T jam anything in there, just clean those two holes.

I use either a plastic toothpick I get at WallyWorld or a dental pick to clean the holes on the connector. Both fit without modifications. One thing that doesn't get mentioned much anymore is when you put a carto on just screw it on gently until it meets resistance, then just a little more so it isn't loose. Screwing them on tight can push the post on either the battery or carto down and done often enough can make the battery difficult to connect. Quite often cartos that are considered DOA will work if you lift the center post a little. Doesn't take much.

I just use a sewing needle - get a pointy end and a rounded end depending on what job needs to be done.

I'm having problems with my manual batteries. The buttons seem very difficult to press in the right spot and have them work right away. Seems like I have to keep "fiddling" with the proper location to press. Is this just me? I've never had this problem with other batteries.

Actually it's regular volts.

well it could just be the button being different then you are used to.... it is small and recessed and has the soft rubber thing happening... if that is the case then it is normal.

If you have to press it multiple times for it to fire it may have a defect and needs to be replaced.

I have one manual (my orange, works great) that's a little stiffer than the others, but I've never had to "fiddle" with angles or anything. The button just takes a tiny bit more force...I think that's the one that gave me the callus!
The other ones are easier to activate, like the other non-rubbery manuals I've had in the past.
