That is my understanding too.
edit - except the number of wraps doesn't matter in my understanding, only the diameter

It may be that I thought the number of wraps mattered because those making micro coils usually do sub-ohm. It's a lot of wraps to go over 1.0 ohm on a 1.6mm ID.

I like big loose coils and I can not lie
You other brothers and sisters can't deny
That when a girl walks in with an itty bitty coil
And a round thing in your face
You get sprung, wanna pull out your Nicoticket
I'm hooked and I can't stop vaping
And when I'm throwin' a vape
I want 'em real thick and juicy
So find that juicy double
Newportlocal's in trouble

Yeah that's solid logic :) I do micros myself and subohm, but would much prefer larger ID - my issue is I all but refuse to hand wrap after discovering the gizmo, and I haven't found the right pieces to utilize the 3mm mandrel. I may do the coat hanger trick flavored came up with for a 2-2.4 mm mandrel on my gizmo.

Gonna try spaced coils thanks to you sis :) I can do those on the gizmo too!

Could this explain the spitback from twisted that I get? (only in the #@$%#@%^ Nuppin, I may add...)

It might. I would think that there is more heat being concentrated at each loop. Maybe that tiny amount of space helps reduce spit back ?

Worth a try, I'll give a twisted spaced coil a shot in the Nuppin soon, if I ever have the motivation to rebuild it. My personal opinion, after fiddling with it for ~a week now, is this is the worst atty I've used. But it has great flavor though. I just detest its design and the flavor's not good enough to motivate me to build on it much. Can't wait for the Derringer :)

Personally "microcoils" on a lot of juices end up giving me crap in flavor and give wicking issues. What I've found out, that at least for me, it prevents it from cooling effectively and may produce bigger clouds, but less flavor.
YMMV

I try to always remember to keep hitting for a second or two AFTER releasing the fire button to cool my coils.....ever noticed it crackling after you finish your hit? ;) :2c:

Ya if you want it I'll keep you posted. It's not frustrating - it's easy to build on, so it's not really the build design I detest, just the whole atty. The build design itself is ingenious in many ways and from an objective standpoint it's a stellar atty. But I don't like the style of building personally, the design of having the coils so high, and a few other things. Given all the rage, it's nothing but disappointing to me, and I prefer an Odin at least ten times over for numerous reasons, the only exception being flavor but they're not that far apart. YMMV :)

oh and the screws...HUGE reason I don't like the Nuppin, the blasted screws...oh my lord.

You will notice a huge difference in spaced coils on the Nuppin. I tend to oversquonk the Nuppin trying to get more out of it than it has the ability to give. I am going to give the Derringer a try. I love the catfish Marquis. First atty I have had that gives even better flavor at 0.4 than it does at 0.8. Much easier to build on than the Veritas which is similar in design.

The Marquis looks pretty awesome I must say. The Derringer will be my first catfish atty, so excited about it!!! In fact in honor of this thread, Atlanta is the first juice I'll try on a Derringer :)

I use these. I bought them at an electrical supply store.
The 0.9 is for the Nuppin. The 1.5 is for the new adjustable REO 510 connection.

I think I have the same, or a similar pair. It's just they don't seem to hold the wire well - worse than any screws I've ever used. Could be user error but I dunno what I'm doing wrong. I know the Derringer uses very similar screws but I'm hoping they do better/I do better with them :)

Well when I first built it I did notice if I didn't make the lead wires long enough down the holes I had issues. Especially the outside one. Hope you get the hang of it. I empathize with your frustrations.:)

Just wanted to add I like my Nuppin. They all have quirks. My Erlkonigin has a special way I wick and coil it,and I removed the AFC ring. Wish the chalice had through holes through the post instead of wrapping around the outside of the post, and with the small chamber have to watch out for it shorting on the inside of the cap. With time it is always a fun hobby adjusting coil ohms, height, air flow, placement of the coil to air flow openings, different wicks and wick materials, etc. The happiness you get when a build turns out just right on the vape. Enjoying the journey.....:)

I so agree with this post. It is well spoken. Do you build an atty for a particular juice?

While I have heard of it and aware of what you are saying with my RDNA I would just ratchet my watts up and down like I did with my volts on my original provari mini until I found the sweet spot. My REO should be back Thursday with the new reverse threading on the 510 connector and I will start exploring that more thoroughly. I have built single and dual coils from around 1 ohm down to .5-.4 ohm, but never specific to a juice. Would be open to people's and your thoughts on that. I can see how it would really help. I will certainly try lots of different styles looking for the magic.
