I was thinking the same. If it's as good as it looks, I'll probably get an authentic. The KF4 was pretty good but having to physically damage the center post to get a solid resistance held me back. The KM3's capacity is too small and that's what held me back. Now that all the public beta testing is done, the K5 looks like the one to get.

Very much so. This is all I've been waiting and hoping for since the day I got my first KFL+ clone. Let's just hope it doesn't whistle. ;)

You may have to - if there isn't enough time for the clones to come out. Does look nice. No wonder I could get a K4 clone for $7.82. Heh.

Nah, I got my first K4 for a few bucks a long time ago. Just for the record!

The whistling stopped with the KF4. That's one of the reasons I liked it so much. The ErlK was like a wind turbine. I tried filing/sanding the sharp edges in the air chamber but that didn't help much. The KM3 is very quite too. I've been vaping the Tobeco KM3 all afternoon and it's clearly the best version I have.

I was gonna say 5/20 but wanted to give China the weekend :p

what makes them the best?
The main difference is the tolerances are much better than the 2 from FC or the black one from FT. The tobeco doesn't wobble as much as the previous 3. There's much less movement. Threads are very smooth. Resistance is stable and working great with ni200.

I ordered them from VapeNW Sunday night and got them today, 4 days. $15 and $5 flat rate shipping (free if you order more than $75).

Do you expect the silver one from them to be the same? I don't really want a black atty, but it's not essential.

Got 2 of those K4's coming...couldn't pass em up, but they prolly will stay in the boxes..and order spare parts..saw SM not making anymore.
Gonna have to see what the K5 is like..before I order more... if I can hold off on more of the Plus'...don't no why, but it seems to vape better...

They may become very valuable in the future. Hang on to them. If the FDA has its way, they'll be worth their weight in gold. :D

For sale: absolutely not a thing.

Don't laugh. And since SM just halted the production of K4s, authentics may soon become collector items.

:D

My FT KM3s came in. The screws look to be about the same diameter and overall shape as those in my Tobeco, but the heads seem to be just a bit thinner. Overall the FT is a tad shorter than the Tobeco. Looks like the drip tip sits a bit deeper in its well, so that the tip looks shorter on the tank, even though the tips themselves are about the same height. The FT air screw fits better and operates more smoothly than the Tobeco.

I have washed out one of the FT units, but haven't had a chance to build and vape on it yet. As the Tobeco is in use, I haven't had the opportunity to do a side-by-side comparison.

My biggest disappointment so far is that with both units wide open the draw on the FT seems noticeably more tight than the Tobeco, even though tha Tobeco has a build in it. I don't have calipers, but a 1.8 mm bit fits into the FT center post airhole, while a 1.9 mm bit will not. As I recall, the diameter of the authentic is supposed to be 2.2 mm.

My Tobeco K4 also came in. It's smaller than I imagined, but is as heavy as expected. A 2 mm bit fits easily in its air hole with room to spare. I'd estimate it at 2.2 mm. I haven't measured the Tobeco's KM3's air hole yet, but I'll try my bits during the next rebuild.

We'll see how the FT ones vape, but I suspect that I'll be ordering a couple more Tobeco clones. Having used the Tobeco for awhile now, I don't know that I'll be satisfied with a tighter draw.
