I make my spaced coils using the Busardo method referred to above, using a Coil Master jig.

I also saw a youtube vid where the guy wrapped a wire on a screwdriver spacing out the wire a little, then just compressed the coil while still on the screwdriver, and the spacing turned out fairly even. I'm guessing that the ID would be a smidgeon larger than what you start out with though.
I use a Coil Master v3 which I got at a vape show. I thought it was a deal for $25 but they're on eBay for $12 shipped now. Still worth it.

This SDNA75 is pretty nice though. Can't say if the TC works well or not since I can't figure out all that coil building, but the device feels very well built and has the nicest exterior finish of about anything I've ever held. I got the black one, it is like a rubbery smooth texture that feels great in the hand and feels like it will wear good and doesn't pick up fingerprints at all. Not sure if I like the fire button's feel- kinda soft or spongy but not too awful bad, others may like it that way. Nice small size and feel, but it is a lot heavier than I expected for single 18650
Please post your thoughts on the default TC (TP?) settings after you've had a chance to play with it for awhile.

I've been thinking of buying one of those, but some in the DNA 75 thread have been critical of Daniel's (DJLsb) programmed settings. It's important to me because as much as I want to try an Evolve chip, I've been Mac only for many, many years and would have to borrow a Windows machine to play with the Evolve software. (No, I don't really want to devote a partition to Windows/Evolve - or, for that matter, to have to buy a Windows OS just to vape.)

I paid $12.95 at Sweet-Vapes, but it's now on sale for $9.95:

Coil Master V3 SALE $9.95

Sort of wish that I had tried one sooner, but then again, the v3 with the longer rods is really close to ideal. (I guess it's a tobacco product now? Pfft.)

Someone posted a close up of SS after a dry burn and the surface flaked.

The reason I don't like the 26g 316L is that it retains heat too much and makes my atomizers really hot if I chain vape. I also didn't get a good, flavorful vape from it. When I switched to 28g 430ss, I got more flavor and chain vaping didn't heat up like the 26g.
My coil has almost like a patina on it after my routine. No flaking at all, though. <shrug>

In your opinion does 28g 430 perform significantly better than 28 g 316L?

SS430 has almost twice the TCR of SS316L and worked better with TC. SS316L is more like temperature limiting under TC than an actual temperature control.

The latest DNA 200 firmware has smoothed out the SS316L control now to where it is as flat as SS430, SS316L used to have a really jagged sawtooth graph.

I would suggest you might want to install a virtual box emulator on your Mac, pick up cheap windows tablet or old laptop to enjoy all the options you can tweak with your DNA device in eScribe.

Depending on your version of OS/X some of this info might work out of the box. A separate partition or purchasing windows is not required.

I bought mine when it first came out last year. It was $25-40 online plus shipping so I was happy paying $25 (or $20?). I had a previous version that I didn't like too much and the v3 fixed what bothered me. Definitely worth having.

I have 28g 430ss and 26g 316L. No 28g 316L. I do like the 430ss better.

No one does TC (Temp Control). It's temp protection (TP) or temp limiting.

This may perhaps be the vid you referenced, Jumpin'. Matt, Suck my Mod. :)

(It's cued up to the point where he discusses it.)

Thanks for the link! Looks like I might not have to pay for a Windows OS...?

I think it was by a reviewer that I don't usually follow. As I recall, he spaced the coil as he was wrapping it on the screwdriver, then compressed it against the base of the screwdriver to even the spacing - hence my guess that the coils would have a slightly larger internal diameter than the diameter of the screwdriver (probably negligible).

I wish I could give you some good info or advice on this- but im still just beginning to use temp protection control limiting whatever term you prefer... the folks in that DNA75 thread are gonna be able to help you waaaaaaaay more than me.

Just FYI for any thinking of ordering the $8.99 Tobeco clones from efun. Ordered a couple on 8/4 and they arrived today (8/20), so shipping was 16 days total - which is not bad, all things considered. They were packed in a bubble wrap envelope.

The tracking showed "Origin Post is Preparing Shipment" from 8/12 through 8/17, so I was wondering what was going on, but then on 8/18 USPS in San Francisco kicked in.

Haven't tried them yet, but they appear to be in good condition.
