Just my luck , i stepped on the plastic replacement tank , sorry to say he didn't make it . This is just great, really great , my glass tank threw itself off my desk and on to a concrete floor in an apparent suicide earlier in the week , suffice to say he didn't make it either.
Plastic tank must of been so distraught from seeing Mr. Glass in the obituaries while reading the morning paper and just couldn't go on.
Very sad , awful actually.

Herb, the good thing is there are a ton of replacement tanks for these. Fasttech and other vendors will fix you up, they don't even cost much.
To the gang at large: We've already seen there are "shiny" and "matte" versions being shipped by Vapor Range. Something I noticed- and would be curious to verify (even though it's no big deal)- is whether the small round white sticker in the top right corner of the box top represents a matte version, and no small round sticker denotes a shiny version. My first KFv4 had no sticker and was shiny. The others from a later order all have the white sticker, and are all matte. Anyone else seeing this?
ETA- Just noticed one of the matte versions has a shiny juice ring. Odd...

Me too. I had no real hankering for a V4. We got 6 Lite+'s (3 real, 3 clone) we're perfectly happy w/. I guess I just couldn't resist the low price given the overall positive responses I've been reading about them here.

I just got a Silverplay in and what a PiTA to wick! 10 minutes to put in coils and 15 minutes wicking and trimming, poking and prodding. It works great but the wicking... If you run any coil gunking juice, you'll soon start to dislike that build deck.
Looks and works great with the Kayfun bell caps, at least then you can tell how much juice you are putting in the tank.

Was there a sticker on the shiny one's box top, or was it bare? Sticker on the matte one's box top?
Now we're talkin'! I would LOVE to have a few different compatible bases to play with!! I'd like to try a Silverpplay base on my Aqua v2.
BTW, anyone know if there is a hybrid base for the KFv4? I'd like to have one in 20x1.0 so I could use it on my ZNA 50 clone.
I got my two V4s from Vapor Range on Saturday. They are both matte, and overall the machining seems to be better quality than my previous V4 clone. I'm still cleaning them, but they didn't reek of machine oil like my current one. I may just retire that first one because I simply cannot get the machine oil taste out of it, no matter how much I clean it.
Thanks, txt. That's conclusive enough for me! If someone was making an order, it might help to ask Vapor Range for one or the other depending on preference.
I had one that was like that. I tried everything under the sun to get the oil taste out. Then I decided to replace all the O-rings with new ones and the oil taste went away with the old rings.
That's a great idea. I have 2 rebuild kits coming with full o-ring sets, plus some additional o-rings for the known leaky bits. I'll give this a shot, thanks!
Yeah , there are a lot of replacements out there. I bought a larger tank section for my older Kayfun lite and i would love to do the same on this one but i think there are no larger tank options for this model.
Even with the dirtiest KFv4 I got (FC), all it took was a hot bath with Dawn dishwashing liquid. Nothing else. Don't forget to take the AFC screw out. If you're extra sensitive to machine oil taste, take the o-rings off everything while washing. Machine oil is just that... oil. It doesn't etch into the atomizer. Any dishwashing liquid will dissolve and wash it away.

Thanks a lot KTM , unfortunately i can't see spending nearly double the cost of what the whole Kayfun V4 cost me for a larger tank option , hopefully FT will come out with one or another vendor with a more reasonable price.
Both of my SS ones are 'shiny', no stickers on either box. Didnt even know they did the sticker thing until I got the blue one hehe..
Digging a bit more, there's a kit from FT but it comes with a steel tube. The Aqua v3 glass tank is .5mm longer but should work. If I didn't have gc balance I wouldn't even think about ordering from FT.

All 3 of my silver Tobecos are brushed SS (matte). I just checked my 2nd from VR and it was missing an o-ring (#36) in the top nut that seals to the chimney. Luckily, I have some spares from my other KF's. Still haven't washed or built it.
