I have 3 of my 4 tobecos built now and one of them has a really loose drip tip, strange it is loose in all the other tobecos also. I suppose I will have to try replacing the Orings on it. To the naked eye I can't see a difference but there obviously is.
I bought one from eciggity ad it had a loose drip tip. I replaced it.

Back a dozen pages or so, I posted link to a kit with every color and a black base and a stainless base. My LG KF5 arrived today (12 days from order date), and the tips interchange nicely.

Yeah, I should have bought those, they are THREADED.

Not sure whether I posted in this thread already. We had a vendor with a Tobeco V5 clone for €22 here in Spain, so I simply couldn't resist obviously. I also got the M2L Kit. (I am a very "extreme" M2L vaper and like my airflow very tight).

The Tobeco is a totally solid device, machining etc. is all top-notch. I cannot even imagine how an authentic could be better. YET, it doesn't solve the main issue that I think the V5 is a very "meh" (at best) device for M2L vapers, even with the kit.

SM thought they built something amazingly great with the V5, this may well be, but definitely not for M2L vapers. I just dug out one of my ancient KFL2+ spares and built another KFL2+, it's ridiculous how I can get the perfect airflow with the tiny screw in 2 seconds, something I never managed with the V3 or the V5. If you wick the KF2L+ right, it is still the king of MTL, there are flavour notes I cannot taste with the V5. (Someone explained this with the larger chamber of the V5 which is suboptimal for MTL, so even the KIT doesn't make the V5 an "excellent" MTL atty. The V3 however is "ok", I just wish tank would be even bigger than the 3.5ml of my "Plus". (But I also had to mod the V3 for tighter airflow)

** Gimme a V3 with a HUGE tank, larger deck, the "improved" isolator which doesn't turn like mine..and I think it would be perfect :) I still hope that SM with their next iterations comes to their senses again and thinks about M2L vapers.

It's why I have held off on the v5. I'll probably still get a clone w mtl kit at some to try but for now I've got several v3 minis including a couple of the pluses.

Woot, my SJMY clone finally arrived!!!!

I put a fairly large coil in there (my usual go-to build); 3,5mm ID, 8 wraps of twisted 28g Ti1, comes in @ 0,4ohm as usual and I'm getting a nice rich wet vape @3 turns on the JFC with my thick, max VG DIY juice.

I can be very short on this RTA; it's just awesome!!!! Unlike with the Serpent mini I can totally see what the hype is about with these tanks.

Airflow is a little on the restricted side for a restricted-DL-vaporist but flavor, build quality and ease of build and wicking more then make up for it imo, we got a new favorite over here!

No need for me to try the mini V3 since it has an even more restricted airflow as I was told, but it does look ridiculously large on my tiny mods so I'm ordering a mini V5 or two right away.

I finally found a worthy replacement for the problematic Bachelors

Only one (very minor) complaint: please include a black tip for the driptip in the future, the white one just looks ridiculous unless you have a white mod imo.

Nice looking @OhTheAgony ! 1st pic I've seen with the SS tank!
I was just about to ask everyone what kind of build they have on their KF v5 clone.
I started with a 3mm ID coil but wasn't too happy with it. I went down to a 2.5mm ID and I'm getting better flavor. It could also be that the 3mm ID coil was a 26g 316ss and the 2.5mm ID coil is 28g 430ss. I also noticed the smaller coil is a bit more airy. Weird.

Thanks, I was planning to use the SS tank when I ordered it already. I'm not a big fan of how they look with the glass (in pictures that is, I haven't even seen in it in the flesh with the glass tank on it, lol) plus looking at my SS Cuboid mini there really was no choice for me.

I may change my mind later on if I unknowingly vape it dry a couple of times though, haha.

In that case I might try a smaller coil next time. I'm very happy with everything else but a little more airflow would be nice for me personally. I have some driptips to play around with too though. My regular fav from the Bachelor Nano's MTL kit might just be a little too tight for this tank.

After trying many different builds, clapton, twisted pair, different diameters, I have settled on 8 or 9 wraps 28g, 430ss, 2.5 dia. Gives great flavor, TC works perfect.
Exact same build as me except i use 316L SS.TC works perfect as well.

I was under the impression that 2 turns on the JFC was wide open? Be careful not to go too far!

Let us know if you get the "MINI" K5, the one I looked at was not much shorter then the normal one, unless the specs were inaccurate.

@OhTheAgony I thought you'd be pleased. I just replaced a 2.5 ID with a 3 and I'm thinking I need to go back to a 2.5 for more airflow.

Yeah, it is really nice. Like a Bachelor but without all the problems (so far anyway, lol).

I just tried it with the airflow ring in the upwards position and it seems about perfect that way for me.

I have some 316L but I like Ti1 better for TC-stability & flavor, I would love to try some 430 but it seems impossible to get on my side of the pond. Twisted wire is where it's at for me though.

Well, it's been in this position for an hour and half now and it didn't fell apart on me or hasn't started leaking so I assume it's fine :D

I'm still getting used to the controls though, it's hard to tell what you're adjusting especially with the SS tank. At first I wasn't sure if I was screwing the tank section apart or changing the JFC, lol

Finally I got my SJMY clone from 3fvape.
SJMY is really cheap on its boxes. They are made of paper and do not give protection during shipping (glass tank was broken).

Machining is good, on par with my no-name mini v3 from fasttech. In reviews I do not pay attention to words "excellent machining" and such anymore. For me it should be given. All my clones bought during last year were of "excellent machining". It's only some flaws that worth mentioning. Like a bit sticky threads on my Kv4 Tobeco clone (in contrast to flawless Infinity clone, but as I understand genuine Kayfuns are not free of such flaws anyway ), or non-usable deck screws in my no-name Kmini3 clone. Machining in China nowadays can be as good as German (or American) machining.

So, clone is perfect (so far), box is bad, not suitable for transportation from China.

OK, about Kayfun v5. I like it. My usual Kanthal, 3 mm, 1.3 ohm. A lot of cotton (fat tails). Non flavored juice. So far really good. Too early to talk about leaks (on my other tanks I do not have leaks, so I keep fingers crossed). May became my main tank, but I need at least a month to be sure. Sure it looks a bit dull compared to v4, but looks are not important for me.

Air flow is perfect for me. Reading this thread I was afraid I'll need airflow restricting kit, but no, I do not. Nice tight MTL draw on minimal setting, nice slow DL draw on maximum setting. And I do like design, I like how it locks.

Two minor design flaws, not crucial, but worth mentioning. First, I hate that white pimple on top of a drip tip. Easy do correct, I can replace a drip tip. Second, I am a bit afraid of this "juice control system" which works by unscrewing tank from a base. I am a bit afraid of walking around with partially unscrewed tank. Time will show if it works or if I should restrict Kv5 usage to vaping at home.

Sounds like a 3mm ID does restrict airflow a bit so it wasn't just me.

I've been using my KF5s for a few weeks now and I've had no issues with the tank being unscrewed a few turns. Same with the KM3. SM says that 2 full turns is wide open but some are using theirs at 3 full turns with no issues. I go 2 - 2.5 full turns on all of mine.

So they say, but if 4 is too far they weren't going to say 3 is wide open, knowing people would go farther, even if accidentally. I've used 3 turns for a week on an 3mm ID coil scottish roll wicking. Had to with Max VG. Otherwise I've been able to do either 2 or 3 turns, except on a 2.5 ID coil loosely wicked. Had to go down below 2 on that one. just depends on your setup, but 3 turns is safe. Haven't tried any further and don't think I want to.
