Thank you for that. I have 5 SS tobeco's and even though i love them as is,was only today thinking of trying the original MTL kit out. Would you say it really improves the flavor? Or just a tighter draw?I am really interested to hear your views.

uh-oh ... you may be asking the wrong person. I've been vaping for 5 years and I just added 2 new flavors to the 2 I've been vaping for the last 4 year. Yep ... not a flavor chaser.

For me the large MTL tube and 4 'pips' of the air ring worked best. Can't say for sure the flavor was better because of restricting the air flow or it was better because I enjoyed the draw better.

I'm def a MTL vaper. My coils are 1.5Ωs wicked w/ rayon and vaped at 14 watts. I like TH and a decent amount of vaper, this I get w/ the MTL tube. W/o it ... it was just too airy.

I am a MTL vaper as well. 1.6 ohm currently at 11 watts. I already love the KF V5 on the 2nd air flow setting. I was wondering if this kit could possibly improve it.

Does anyone know about the airflow reducer kit for the SMJY clone KF 5? Does the authentic kit fit? Or is there another kit that works for it? Desperately need one. Thanks for any input!

Just a quick update on a relatively brief history with my Tobeco KF5.
The deck is the easiest thing to build on. Sooo user friendly anyone can do it! (I'm 54 and have Very shaky hands)

And being so easy, and so cheap to rebuild, I've not hesitated once to try new combinations of coils and wicking even when a rebuild is not required.

Tried many coils between .5 and 1.8 ohms, and various wicking methods, and every one works in its own way (except for one leaky re-wick that was my fault for pushing the envelope lol)
Cheap as chips to maintain!

ALL builds (both coil, and wicking variables) have given me satisfactory flavour at the very least, and my current is absolutely singing..and that is only from a simple flush and new wick method, keeping the same .5 ohm coil @16watts (Provari Radius)

One thing I've constantly noticed is the "wet flannelette shirt" flavour I always get with a new wick (cotton) but this always seems to pass in a cuppla hours. I can live with that LOL

Yes it's a TALL tank compared to some other more "sensible" sized tanks, and as such looks a bit stupid on a long tube mod like my Procyon. (think light sabre lol)
It even looks a bit out of proportion on my much shorter box mod...but if its the size/height that gives it it's unique flavour then I'm more than happy to live with the bulk.

Long tails bunched up in the wells. Short tails not quite reaching the bottom of the wells. Thick tight wick through the coil. Thinner loose wick through the coil. And combinations of

I haven't used rayon yet, but I've found light/medium through the coil, and short tails to give me best results for my 50/50 VG PG liquid. 3 turns JFC. Aussie winter ambient temps.

You use rayon in RTAS? Took a quick look at the site. I can understand how it might work well in an RDA, but in a tank will those "thin"wicks hold the juice back from flooding and keep a vacuum going?

Sure does, it's definitely a learning curve coming from cotton and learning the different cuts to accommodate different RTA's but definitely worth it. Done correctly everyone has successfully used the same rayon wick from 120-200ml of juice. Way longer than cotton. If your interested go check out the above thread. I use rayon & cotton both, tho I prefer cotton. I don't shape oy thin the wicks in either drippers or tanks. And never have a problem.

Quick question before I strip mine down for a squiz

Latest coil is showing as .56 ohms, 5 wraps 28g Kanthal, 2.5mm ID with my usual wicking method (cotton) which is medium to loose through the coil, and tails just touching the deck.
Pushing 15 watts which gives me a nice warm tasty vape.

It's starting going "snap crackle and pop" like a bowl of rice bubbles a few hours ago and it's becoming a bit annoying. The S,C+P continues nearly the whole way through the draw. (AFC pip 1, JFC 2 turns, MTL long slow draw)

I've encountered the occasional "POP" in the past but never to the extent this build is giving me, and it's got me scratching my head as to why it's happening.

Can any of you experienced blokes/blokettes give me some advice as to what causes this ploise?

Try lowering the wattage. The popping is the juice being cooked off at the coil.

Done. Down to 12 watts so far and it's still happening.
But at 12 watts into a .5 ohm coil the vape has become cold and flavourless.
Was worth a try though. Thanks anyway

I'd try using a little more wick. Usually when I get the popping I have too little wick and/or there's a gap between the wick and coil somewhere.

Well Well Well - I got the tobeco clone and all my issues now gone - great flavor at last !!!!!

Not sure what brand of clone my first one was but the Tobeco is a killer ! Love it.

For a .5ohm coil you need to go with higher watts. Raise it .5 at a time til the SNP stops. Juice isn't vaporizing, it's just sitting in the wick & not getting hot enough to vaporize. There's a reason subohmer's use higher watts. Lower ohms use high watts. If you want to use less wattage you need to go higher ohms.

Make sure your wick is very snug in the coil.
