Finally I got my SJMY clone from 3fvape.
SJMY is really cheap on its boxes. They are made of paper and do not give protection during shipping (glass tank was broken).

Machining is good, on par with my no-name mini v3 from fasttech. In reviews I do not pay attention to words "excellent machining" and such anymore. For me it should be given. All my clones bought during last year were of "excellent machining". It's only some flaws that worth mentioning. Like a bit sticky threads on my Kv4 Tobeco clone (in contrast to flawless Infinity clone, but as I understand genuine Kayfuns are not free of such flaws anyway ), or non-usable deck screws in my no-name Kmini3 clone. Machining in China nowadays can be as good as German (or American) machining.

So, clone is perfect (so far), box is bad, not suitable for transportation from China.

OK, about Kayfun v5. I like it. My usual Kanthal, 3 mm, 1.3 ohm. A lot of cotton (fat tails). Non flavored juice. So far really good. Too early to talk about leaks (on my other tanks I do not have leaks, so I keep fingers crossed). May became my main tank, but I need at least a month to be sure. Sure it looks a bit dull compared to v4, but looks are not important for me.

Air flow is perfect for me. Reading this thread I was afraid I'll need airflow restricting kit, but no, I do not. Nice tight MTL draw on minimal setting, nice slow DL draw on maximum setting. And I do like design, I like how it locks.

Two minor design flaws, not crucial, but worth mentioning. First, I hate that white pimple on top of a drip tip. Easy do correct, I can replace a drip tip. Second, I am a bit afraid of this "juice control system" which works by unscrewing tank from a base. I am a bit afraid of walking around with partially unscrewed tank. Time will show if it works or if I should restrict Kv5 usage to vaping at home.

Sorry to hear your glass was broken, I'm sure 3fvape will send you a replacement if you send them an email and a photo of the broken glass though.

Just curious, but was the foam insert missing from your box perhaps?

I was under the impression that 2 turns on the JFC was wide open? Be careful not to go too far!

Let us know if you get the "MINI" K5, the one I looked at was not much shorter then the normal one, unless the specs were inaccurate.

I was a bit rushed earlier and forgot to reply to the second part of your post;

The SJMY V5 clone is listed as 74mm tall on 3fvape, I measured it and that must be including the driptip. They list the SXK mini V5 clone as 62mm on 3fvape so that's about 12mm shorter, which comes down to almost half an inch in your funny imperial measurements ;)

Insert was OK, box was a bit deformed.

Frankly I kinda like the minimalistic looking box. With most RTAs I've received so far I always wonder how much extra I'm paying for such a nice box, lol

But protection is a different matter I guess, hope you'll get it sorted out!

On another note; has anyone seen a black version of the mini V5 perhaps, and can anyone tell me who currently has the black Tobeco V5 in stock please? I prefer Asian or European based sellers, buying form the US usually gets expensive once the package goes through our customs.

Thanks, guess I don't think 12mm is really that large a height saving to be called MINI.

I started with a 3mm ID coil but wasn't too happy with it. I went down to a 2.5mm ID and I'm getting better flavor. It could also be that the 3mm ID coil was a 26g 316ss and the 2.5mm ID coil is 28g 430ss. I also noticed the smaller coil is a bit more airy. Weird.
Could it be smaller coil, less wick = more airy?

After a few weeks of use, I'm happy to report that my SXK V5's and my Tobeco V5 work exactly the same without any leaks and after breakin, turn as smooth as a fine watch. Very pleased with both versions, only difference is the engraving, no biggy.:thumb:

The reason I wanted a black one too arrived today, even on a larger mod the V5 is still HUGE!

Is it just me or is this a pretty thirsty RTA? I normally don't vape more then 3ml per day but to my surprise the tank was completely empty this morning and I filled it to the brim yesterday (they claim 5ml with the SS tank).

Maybe I'm enjoying it too much..?

I'm using 2.5mm 28*2 x 32 Claptons & it's a thirsty! Was going to try a more modest coil maybe that will help. Your thoughts?

I'm afraid I'm not much help there. I like the vape I'm getting so I'm happy to top-up a bit more often myself. & I DIY so I don't have much experience with methods of limiting e-juice consumption. I just lower the nicotine level a bit and vape on

But going from Claptons to a simple single wire coil should help a lot I guess, although you might not enjoy the vape as much...

Yes it uses more juice. Enjoy the vape. I'm old and old school, 3mm 28ga. kanthol coil, rayon wick, 8.5 watts on my segeli v5, perfect. You don't have to be a mechanical engineer with this tank like the V4, it just is simple to build, use and vapes well. 4 gallons of Vg and Pg sits under my desk, vape on!

You must have a huge desk!!

I don't think Rayon is all that old-school though ;)
